The same thing and same tactics were used on me this week. I filed a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission and the Consumer Finance Protection Bureau. I am no longer answering their calls. I checked and it's different for each state, but check the statute of limitations on whether a credit card debt is legally collectible. They know it will be thrown out in court, so they use these scare tactics. Most of the time the debt is so old it is no longer on your credit report.

This company Western Acquisitions Group has call me and threatened me with a summons to appear in court if I don't pay a 8 year old debt that no longer exists they tried to negotiate a offer settlement for the amount of $250 or face judgment in court and they stated that I would have to pay $1,000 if I accepted the summons and they also mentioned that they will send a notary out to my jurisdiction and a officer of the court will issue me a summons so yes I got nervous and scared and I ended up giving them my debit card info and they said that they promised to only take out $250 only not a penny more or a penny less I felt threatened into it and pressured they were very demanding and vulgar & intimidating I want them to stop harassing me and stop calling me I was advised to make a police report regarding identity theft with this company and I even consulted the State attorney General and he advised me to cancel my info& card because I'm on disability and he told me to contact all three credit bureaus to not allow anyone to view or access my credit report and h said that this company is a scam and don't bbc.co fall for there tricks or intimidation he also advised me not to respond to anymore calls or e-mails from them anymore they are scam artists and they are not to be trusted I ordered a full investigation on this company Western Acquisitions Group..

I got the same call today. Guy was saying I was going to be served and I would have to appear in court on the matter if I didn't resolve it. He did read off my credit report to me so obviously he had access to my credit report. I did have the account that he was talking about but I paid the debt off several years ago. He said that I paid the wrong company and if I have no records of this then my payment was not valid. He said it would take my so called 358 dollar debt and with all of the fees and interest it would be over 2500 that I would be liable for. He said they can garnish my wages and take my taxes if it is not paid. Im not buying this scam. I guess I will wait and see what happens.

Got the same message today from this company.  They claimed that I owe money to Citibank the was over 5000.  I asked repeatedly for proof of the debt they said I could settle for 1581. and that they would process the settlement with the credit bureau.  I told them that I would take the settlement letter they sent me to my JAG office.  He they guy I was talking to got mad and started trying to forcing me to give him my credit card information, Gift card, prepaid credit card didn't care what I gave him as long as he got something.  I didn't give them anything...The scary part of this was that he had information that was related to my past and my present.  I am sure all people who dealt with Western Acquisitions Group understands this law breaking organization.  I went to my JAG and had him draft a letter and send it to the PO Box in NY.  Now I have Life Lock.
I also would like to state that the idea of someone coming to your house is really dumb could you tell me how do they know where anyone works...How do they know where you work?  I never been served, but I have seen a lot where the person doesn't tell you they are going to serve you they walk up and give you paper and tell you you've been served....They are stupid I called due to the fact that I wanted to see what this was all about.  I am glad that I wasted his time just as much as he wasted mine.  In all keep this in mind they have a legal obligation to prove the debt is valid they will tell you all about old debts.  Don't give them anything this all is part of the Target issue that has peoples information all over the world.  I never got call before this time so I am sure its got to do with that since I was apart of the number of people who got caught by those other crooks.  

I have contacted this company with concern at first as well, after doing my research the company is a legit they have helped me not only settle my debt but provided helpful information on fraud prevention, considering I have been a victim before. I would suggest contacting them before this goes too far.

We received a call from this company, or rather I should say a call from "Charles." As an attorney, I realized it appeared to be a blatant violation of the Federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, as well as Pennsylvania Consumer Laws. Why do they do it then? Because most people will remain silent, and not assert their rights, because they may owe money and feel guilty. Yet, your elected officials in congress, after becoming aware of the abuses of debt collectors, passed this law and the President signed it. They did this to protect you and other debtors. Residents of some states, such as my state of Pennsylvania, receive further damages by virtue of Pennsylvania's Fair Credit Extension Uniformity Act at 73 P.S. § 2270.1 et seq. I am an advocate of debtor rights because during my career I lost two of my clients who were harassed by debt collectors, to the point they committed suicide. While you can call the FTC and your local attorney general, they may not have the time or resources to pursue the matter. They may want to help you, and do the very best they can, but imagine trying to handle the volume of complaints they receive. That is why there is a private remedy providing you with a damage award and attorney fees. So few people pursue their rights that these companies continue their illegal practices. They may have to pay a few thousand dollars now and then for breaking the law, but they continue to turn a profit anyway.  B.T.W., the (disputed) claim on which they were trying to collect was way past the statute of limitations. You see, some companies buy the claims at a small percentage of their actual value, and try to recover what they can. If they do not recover, they punish you by harassing you.

Received a call from 844-828-7808 stating what others have said about a summons in my name that would be delivered to my home or place of employment. This was left on a voicemail, and they also stated that this was in regards to missed court dates and a warrant was pending. Curiosity got the best of me, and I called the number back where I was transferred to a "federal prosecutor working in liaison" with this as yet unidentified firm that took some talking to to identify themselves as Western Acquisitions Group. I immediatly looked them up on the internet, saw their awful fake looking website and found that they were scammers and/or Zombie debt collectors. When I pointed this out, the fella became verbally abusive and hung up on me. Obviously not legit. I live in PA, by the way.

I received the exact same message as those stated here-it was a male voice recording. I called the number back (844-766-8647) and got a woman who was very friendly...at first and identified the company as Western Acquisions in Albion, NY. Then she became rude and beligerent when I asked for a written verification of the debt via mail. She told me that they would not do that. She ultimately ended up hanging up on me when I asked her why I would pay for something that could not be verified.

I like the others share a similar experience. A company claiming to be "Western Acquisitions Group" has been harassing me  for over a month. It was in regards to a legitimate debt that I paid off in 2013, but never got reported back to the credit agency. Everything about this phone call raised red flags: They threatened to come to my work, yet couldn't tell me where I worked. I asked for a paper bill in the mail with a payment envelope, they said "it's past the time for that". I asked a man what the web address was and he said "please hold." I asked for a physical address and was transferred. I was constantly hung up on if I mentioned at all that I wanted proof of their legitimacy. I was told that I was "one of THOSE people who refuses to face my  responsibilities" when I questioned if they were real. I was told I was getting a "bargain," when in reality they had doubled the amount of my debt and then offered me a settlement - which my the way I settled a year earlier for hundreds less. Everything about this company is FAKE. They use a gmail email. The website is too basic. No mailing address. Fake "affidavits" via email. And they are linked with another company who ran my credit report that claims to be BBB accredited, but are not. It is unbelievable how manipulative and persistent they are. The typically call from unknown numbers. DO NOT FALL FOR THIS SCAM. PLEASE!!!

I recieved a threatening call saying I was being served a summons on an account I havent had since 2001- so they are OLD as hell out of date debts way way way past the statue of limitation, and they try to tell you it was a more recent date funny how I keep a copy of my credit report and can see when it was charged off and to who and what the REAL balance was and it was paid ...scamming scamming scamming where are they even located???

This is A SCAM SCAM The group does not exist , they say they are lawyers yet they do not talk like a lawyer would telling me I have a debt when i went and got my credit report and looked at it while they were on the phone then picked another debt and said they had the wrong one a debt that was fully paid on my credit report they are scammers

Extortion Scam Related to Delinquent Payday Loans

The Internet Crime Complaint Center has received many complaints from victims of payday loan telephone collection scams. Callers claim the victim is delinquent in a payday loan and must repay the loan to avoid legal consequences. The callers purport to be representatives of the FBI, Federal Legislative Department, various law firms, or other legitimate-sounding agencies. They claim to be collecting debts for companies such as United Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Net, and other Internet check-cashing services.

According to complaints received from the public, the callers have accurate data about victims, including Social Security numbers, dates of birth, addresses, employer information, bank account numbers, and the names and telephone numbers of relatives and friends. How the fraudsters obtained the personal information varies, but in some cases victims have reported they completed online applications for other loans or credit cards before the calls started.

The fraudsters relentlessly call the victim?s home, cell phone, and place of employment. They refuse to provide any details about the alleged payday loans and become abusive when questioned. The callers have threatened victims with legal actions, arrests, and, in some cases, physical violence if they do not pay. In many cases, the callers harass victims? relatives, friends, and employers.

This is a spam, they threaten you with serving  a law suit only to offer you a settlement on an account you never had and never existed, saying you left the account owing 550.00 it is now up to 2500.00 we will settle today for 1250. so that the process server won't come out tomorrow, they want your bank account or credit card number SPAM IGNORE this call. They called me and left message saying someone is using my social security number and they needed me to call them.

Seeing reports on 1/23/14 that these Buffalo NY area debt collection scammers Western Acquisitions Group may also be using 877-664-9642 as call back number in their phony process server threat messages. May also be making calls claiming SS# flagged for fraud and claiming to be law firm. Seem to run roughshod over numerous FDCPA laws. Hopefully NY A.G. Recd call from this #. MSG said this is Charles Quake( no company name) calling about ur ss# being involved in possible fraud. Please call the company filing against u at 877-664-9642.  I did call this # and spoke to Natalie Moss who said she was from the legal outsourcing dept of Western Acquisitons Group. Did not give her any personal info (turns out she was looking for someone else) but did let her know about all these fraud accusations against her company and perhaps she would want to look for another job b4 she gets arrested.  She claimed not to have any knowledge of these accusations.  She went on to say she was going to look into it herself, thanked me for the info and assured me my # would be removed from their list
