On June 7, I went to the Enosburg Falls fair in Vermont, filled out a form at the Walmart stand and then received a call from Jessica that I had won all kinds of prizes. At first it sounded legit, but it didn't take me long to figure out that it was for a time share deal in Killington. So I didn't phone back Jessica who left a few messages and I got another phone call today, June 30th. Hopefully this was the last one as she said that if I didn't phone her back by 1 p.m., she would have to draw another name!!!

877-699-2157 recorded voice says this is about a case that is being filed with "your county" and to call back at 877-699-2157. No case # given, no info about who the caller was, etc. Total scam.

I received a call from Shelby on my work & cell phone stating that filled out a registration form in a store in my area or restaurant and that I am the winner of a vacation gift at no cost to me. Shelby said she is reachable from 5-9pm. However, she did not give her company's name or additional information. What a bunch of crap this is!!!!

I was at Carnival for A Cure to benefit Relay for Life and signed up to be in a drawing for a Home Depot gift card and got a call from this number and the girl assured me that I did indeed sign up for a free vacation. Hmm I know what I signed up for...Not happy with Home Depot...bait and switch or make money off my name and number ...not playing fair...

I just received the same call from "Todd", after I filled one out for a tv/possible 5K, who thanks to all you guys ended up hanging up on me not me hanging up on him. Same speech of "you're one of the 10% that got chosen". I would've had to drive to a presentation then listen to it and receive those "vouchers". I explained that I googled his group found this thread along with many others who all say it's a time share scam. I asked him when are the vouchers good for and he explained anytime except for holidays. I told him that was interesting considering someone else (in this thread) said that they wern't valid on weekends and certain resorts. He said he was confused and he'd been working there for 3 years and have never heard of this restriction and that there was a new building that was built with no commitments and all sorts of other garbage. I told him thanks but no thanks I don't like scammers. He said it wasn't a scam. I told him even though I'm 30, I'm not stupid and false advertising and using you're name for this kind of stuff, is a scam...that's when he hung up..Thanks guys!!

Did you go to the go and check it out and get the prizes. We have gotten other free stuff by listening to a timeshare/club presentations.

Just got a call with this return number. We filled out a form to win a $500 Lowe's gc at the Fryeburg Garden show. If you read the back of the entry, it gives you the info on this "KVM marketing group". Stopped filling them out right away, just too late. At one of the booths, the lady kept saying "no mailing lists". What a bunch of BS.

Received 3 calls this week from this number. Telling me I filled out a registration card at one of their boxes. I NEVER fill out cards with my phone number because I do not want these annoying calls. Then she said maybe a friend filled it out. I love that line. Of course, they can never tell you where exactly it was filled out. I had to tell her 3 times to put me on their do not call list. I had to be rude and hung up on her.

I received a call from 413.499.6505 from someone named Erin calling to say I received a wonderful gift from the local home show. She asked that I call back 877.699.0569 ext 125 for further details. I called the number out of curiosity and thankful I did- the answering machine/voicemail that answered said that no calls could go through...sounds like a scam to me

I know it's been a while, but did you actually go to the time share tour? How did it turn out with the gifts, etc? I just had the same call for a Killington visit.

I was wondering if you had any success from this call? We got a call and are supposed to sign up, 4 round trip airfare tickets, gift cards, etc.
Chris 2012-01-31 21:01:17 Unknown
After reading all of this there is no way I'm going to their presentation. Sounds like a "bait and switch" to me!

Just received a call. It is a time share deal. Have to go to Westerly RI to receive the gifts.
I entered a contest at the boat show in Providence . They will not send the "winning" information until we tell them when we can attend the presentation. NO WAY>

Just received a call from "Todd", left this phone number and when I called back it was answered "vacation group". His message mentioned a giveaway I had signed up for at the Northeast RV & Camping show --- the ONLY thing I registered for there was a $500 Dick's Sporting Goods card. Anyone know if we have any recourse with those retailers out there who are selling our names, addresses, and phone numbers to these folks?????? The no-call list apparently does not apply to them.......

If I am on a do not call list, why are they calling me? Has anyone reported them?
Diane 2011-12-06 01:39:13 Unknown
We have done this twice (with different companies). The first time we received a free night with breakfast and dinner at a wonderful hotel in the White Mountains (the presentation took place while we were there). We also received a set of luggage (which we still have and use). The second time was in Florida and we got four free tickets to Islands of Adventure. It wasn't really high pressure at all and the freebies were worth it. I am now getting calls from this company as well and will take them up on it if we can go to the presentation after the holidays.

I just recently received some calls from this number, with the same deal: airline tickets, yada yada. Fortunately, I used to work for a timeshare place and I know the drill. Note to anyone who decides to go through this adventure: the prizes usually end up being cheap pieces of crap, and the sales people will do their best to strong-arm you into buying a timeshare. At the very least, make sure they provide you with a 30-day "back-out!" (BTW, I got this call because I filled out a contest entry at the Vermont State Fair. Some prize!)

Got the same phone call from Sue for The Vacation Group. Called my mom because she and my dad went to one of these way back when. She said they'll beat you up to where you almost wanna buy just to get out of there. I calledthe toll-free number back to get the city and state where they are based out of so I could check them out on BBB. They answer the phone "Corporate Offices" which is sketchy to begin with... no company name? Then when I asked where they were based out of, I got 20 questions about why I wanted to know. The girl eventually gave up Pittsfield, MA after I told her I wanted to do a little research about the company before I committed to anything. It is true that there is no web site for them, and the BBB has no record of them either, at least not with my given info. When I Googled it, I found this review site halfway down the page. I'd steer clear people.

I got a call from Sue at "The Vacation Group" offering 4 round trip air tickets, bla, bla, bla absolutely no cost. No such thing as a free lunch. I've been to these things before. There is ALWAYS a caveat. Everybody is peaches and cream and warm kittins until you say NO after a lengthy inquisition. Then they turn into the Soup Nazi from Seinfeld. There are usually two sets of gifts. The A gifts are for those who sign the dotted line. The B Gifts are for those who do not.
To beat the system, just sigh up for the biggest baddest time share. Spare no expense. You have a 3 day rescission period. That way you get the A goodies and bail on the whole deal. Check with you local AG office but that is how it works here in good ole NH ! Happy gifting !

What a scam... advertised as-if they were Lowes (the big box store) at an area home show.
Now we are getting "You've Won a Prize!" calls. I think the sponsoring organization will hear from me, regarding the bottom feeder quality of their vendors.
terry 2011-06-06 21:04:44 Unknown
repeated calls telling you that you had won a prize.A scam he is selling timeshares. They were quite rude when I told them I was on the no call list and would report them.
Mitch 2011-04-07 21:32:48 Unknown
Hi,
Did you actually go to the presentation and did you receive the gifts as promised? I had a similar offer after visiting a Home Show...go to Killington for a 90-minute presentation, free lunch or dinner, free hotel if over 90 miles, 4 planes tickes, etc., $50 Home Depot gift card. The person would not send me anything, nor an E-Mail. She said that if I decided to stay at the hotel, I would have to give her my credit card #. I looked them up on the internet (The Vacation Group, Pittsfield) and there's no web site.
Danielle 2011-04-05 15:26:01 Unknown
This is a follow up to my original post. I went to the 90 minute presentation on Sunday. I was told to be there at 12:30 promptly, which I was, but the tour didn't begin until after 1 p.m. Our sales rep was a nut job, nice... but definitely strung out. She told us at the beginning she hoped we weren't deadbeats because she hated wasting her time. At the end of their show and tell, I decided not to purchase their time share package.
I did receive the $25 cash on the spot as well as free lunch up the road (limited to sandwiches, wraps and salads, along with 2 free drinks, plus $2 tax.)
I brought the brochure into the restaurant with me to look it over and begin planning my FREE 3 day/2 night getaway. What a joke. Most the places near me (Rhode Island) you can't book Friday or Saturday nights throughout the year and if you do there is a minimum surchage of $25 all the way up to $40 per night.
Needless to say, I'm disappointed but I should've known better. There is no such thing as FREE these days.
Martha 2011-03-31 15:18:08 Unknown
the catch was that I had to listen to a 90 minute spiel on a timeshare, they were going to give me 4 airline tickets but I was only able to use 2 tickets at a time and could only stay at a hotel that they tell me to stay at.

A few months back, I filled out a form in a local Chinese restaurant to win either $5k or a big screen TV. I get a call from 877-699-0569 a couple of nights ago with a detailed message about gifts I've won. I called back immediately and spoke with a guy, Todd, who informed me I won one of two things; either 4 round trip tickets in the continental United States good for 2 years (their desinations of course, like crappy Disney World in Florida) OR 3 days, 2 nights at one of 90 different New England resorts which is good for 1 year.
Of course there is a catch, but not a bad one at that. Myself and one guest have to go down to a Misquamicut beach club resort in Westerly, RI on April 3rd for a 90 minute presentation/walk-through of the resort. For doing this, I am given $25 cash for gas and free lunch at a local Italian restaurant post presentation. After the presentation is over, I can either choose to book a timeshare at the resort, or decline (I'm sure there will be lots of sales pressure.) Oh, and I have to bring 2 forms of ID; drivers license and a credit card. I heard "credit card" and though, oh yea... they're going to charge me. But I was 100% assured that they would not, that I could block off the numbers on the card, it was strictly for verification purposes.
I'm expecting a sales booklet in the mail from this company, The Vacation Group, outlining the 90 different resorts in the New England area, as this was the option I had chosen.
This seems like a legit company and this is the way that most timeshares operate.

Justin,
Did you go to the timeshare 90 min session? Did you actually use your free airline tickets and other gifts? Did it all work out as really being free tickets? Or did you have to pay tax or a fee to book?
Feedback of how it actually went down would be great.
thanks
Heidi
