Try this law, which turned 34 years almost two weeks ago.

Applying FDCPA depends on the kind of third party collector. This may be the usual US lawbreaker or a fake collector from overseas. The latter can't be sued by an individual. Try to get a business name and share it with the readers. By federal law this name cannot be withheld.

I received a voicemail from 877-705-2789 from a Jeanette or Denette Smith from the law firm seeking a person who I do not know, but we share the same last name. She left a very detailed message concerning the young ladies information whom she was attempting to get in contact with. I was just wondering if that was illegal?
Now I know all this personal financial information about the person they were looking for without that lady knowing her personal information is being left on answering machines of people she does not even know. Seems as if there should be a law against that.

Received voicemail today from blocked caller. Caller identified himself as a Mr Evans, calling from a legal firm called American. Caller said message was regarding a case under a name I've never heard. Caller said he had my number as a way to contact this person I'd never heard of. Caller asked me to have this person I've never heard of contact the firm at 877-705-2789, and reference a case# given in the message. I called the 877 #, identified myself, and asked for Mr Evans. "We don't have a Mr Evans." I gave case number and reported that I do not know the person they're looking for, they must have a wrong number. They said it must be some mistake and would take my number off their records
