I went to Ontario Energy website and this number is not there anywhere.  These scammers are using legitimate names to weasel their way into your house and then scam you into buying all kinds of things you don't need and force a contact on you that changes after you sign.   Stay far far away from all those so called energy companies, stick with the utility companies and they will work WITH you if you have issues.

When you google a number and the first link to show up in the list is 800notes, you know darn well the number is a scammer.   If it was legit then the company would show up.   When my phone rings and I don't know the number and no name shows up, I punch the number into google and usually don't answer it.  If they don't leave a message then it's not legit and it's blocked.

Who is Ontario Energy?  Never heard of them.

Got a call from this number too. They want to discuss "business options" with my husband....who they asked for by name. It is definitely automated. If anyone wants to discuss business with my husband, they had better call personally. Total crap.

i get a call from this number... i answer and the person/device on the other end takes about 10 to 20 seconds before talking...  starts in saying that it is important that Jay or "J" calls them back.. no one by the name or initial "J" lives at my house number..can't find any information on this number..

got a call from this number... looking for a "Ben" to call them back. the number has never belonged to a "Ben" and certainly does not now. was a robot call, claiming they need to call the number and provide a long string of digits as a reference number... and that it "was not a telemarketing call"

This is the second call I received from this number. It shows up on my phone as "416" with nothing else. When I answered, the phone rang back and an automated message came on. States that 'Mr.' must call 1-877-706-1899 between 8am and 5pm EST can 'Mr.' quote a reference number (blah blah blah). And that this is 'not a telemarketing call'. I will not call back cause it seems fishy to me since there is no identification of the company.

I have been getting the same message, at different times, for the past 3 weeks.

Would "M call 1 877 706 1899 and in reference to file # etc and this is not a telemarketing call".

It is annoying and scary because they have the correct name.

416 area code

This number has been calling my cell incessantly over the past six weeks - often 20 minutes apart.  I know it is a scam to try to get me to unwittingly switch hydro or gas suppliers.  I just ignore it but they are very persistent.  I answered them once and they had my right name but my old address.  So they have a little bit of information that makes them sound credible but they are not.  Don't answer these calls.  They are crooks and swindlers.

I got a message on my cell from this number, they did not elavea  company name...seemed awfully fraudish to me.  Then I saw these posts, so I called the number and it is Ontario energy.  They really need to identify themselves with how much phone fraud is going on.  Anyway I call the number and get put through to a voicemail that no-one is avail to take my call????  YOU called me????

I have also been receiving calls from this phone number. It appears to be Ontario Energy. Did you recently move? If so, and you signed a contract with Ontario Energy, did you cancel the Ontario Energy plan that is separate from your hydro bill? A sales person would have come to your door to have you sign a contract. When you move, apparently you have to send them a copy of your driver's license and a copy of your lease to avoid being charged a fee. As far as I am concerned, you should NEVER mail this information as it is private and confidential and at risk for identity theft. If you don't send them this information, they will charge you the cancellation fee ... if they can find you.

Got one as well - on my cell phone none-the-less.  The recordong said "Ontario Energy".... hmmmmmm  Interesting considering I don't live in Ontario!!

I answered the phone and the person or device did not feel like talking so I hung up. Lets see how many times they phone back.  Could not find any information on this phone number.
