My hubby and I were sound asleep at 10:55PM when both of our cell phones alerted us that we have a text message. The texts were identical on both of our phones and read as follows: checkingissues@ccspcu.com (CC) Credit Union new account issues. Contact our secure telephone line at 877-720-9395 for more information. I had no idea who this supposed credit union was(first red flag) but I was livid to be awakened by such a group! I sat up and called the number given. Second red flag was the automated voice recording didn't identify the name of their company but the very first question was "please enter your account number and press the pound key. Then enter your pin # to this account and press pound. No option to speak to anyone. When I listened again, I typed in bogus numbers and hit pound to which the voice replied, please wait as we verify your information, then came back and said sorry the info your provided didn't match the info on our records. Red Flags flying everywhere by now. I've tried to look up the ccspcu.com and it came back to a CC in Corpus Christie TX. Never heard of them much less do business with them. I also replied to the text but received another text saying my msg could NOT be delivered because of invalid Pdu content?! I am now thoroughly ticked off! You see I have a terminal illness that causes excruciating pain...to get to sleep is a blessing that rarely happens! To be awakened by these inconsiderate morons trying to scam me I suppose is infuriating! So to ccspcu.com I beg you to cease and desist immediately. We have no money as my health issues, chemo & frequent hospitalizations have led us to financial ruin! Please oh please leave us alone! I'll pray for you and even eventually forgive you but I will not forget. Does anyone know who these folks are and what they want?

Wife and I just recieved same text messages. Filling out complaint with FBI & FTC.
The corpus christi credit union list 361-888-8332
as a customer contact # which I will call in the morning. Do not give them any info it is a scam.
I'm just wondering where they got both of our numbers from?
Also, if they have any thing else.

text message at 10:30 last nite. who are these people????

Everything that JMueller says is identical to mine. I got a message from these people at 10:30 last night! I, first, know nothing about this credit union, nor do I appreciate an interuption at 10:30! I called the number listed and it wanted me to enter a credit card number and a PIN. I checked my own personal accounts, and there is nothing wrong with them. This is a scam! I am also curious as to where they got my number from.

We apologize for the inconvenience. This appears to be a new version of a phishing scam unfortunately involving our credit union and AT & T customers.

I got a text from them saying the same things as some of the people above had said. But these idiots put an "O" instead of a "0" in the phone number so I figured it was fake. I almost did fall for it since I live in Corpus Christi but the O gave it away. Haha suckers!!

Received the same text message, only from  KVCCU, in Centralia IL.  Same scam, only using different CC.

Is this bogus?

Got the same text around 10:17 on the 21'st and also have At&t.. I'm wondering how they got my number....

I too am from cctx. I've got 4 unpublished cell numbers and they all recieved the same text. Wondering if  only AT&T customers are being targeted.

They Sent a txt to my phone and my husbands - openissues@kvcu.org(KVCCU)One new Issue . Contact our secure telephone line at 877 720 9395 for more information. - I of course have no idea who it is so I didn't respond and googled the number to find this... We are from the st. Louis area on the il side and are visiting in KY now.. I sure hope no one falls for this and I really wonder how they got our number! We are very careful who we hive our number too! I really wonder who is behind this ??

Same issues as above.  Received text @10:25pm from a sender  @ 36245?  Obviously some type of scam.  Called the number out of curiousity...no answer and mailbox full message.  Also looked up website and found a site for Corpus Christi Southern Pacific Credit Union and they have a complaint notice as follows:

Good idea Jay, but if this a legitamate credit union and this is someone else's scam, logging a complaint with their overseeing agency might inspire the credit union to get involved as well.

Same thing here... just received the text message to call because of a checking account problem.  Don't even have an account there.  What scumbags!

Received call from 877 720 9395 on 05/21/2010 at 10:55pm. No one ever calls us at that hour. We didn't recognize the number so we didn't answer the Iphone. Glad we didn't after checking the number on Google.

I got the same text last night at 10:23 and I live in Corpus.

I live in Corpus Christi and got the same text on my cell at 10:23 pm last night, just saw it on cell this morning. I'm going to call the BBB Monday.

I am calling CC BBB first to confirm this bank exsists, then this bank monday to check to make sure they do not have any info concerning my account then I am calling the TX Attorney Generals Office to file a complaint in order to look into the possiblity of a 3rd party scam.
