It was a survey asking if I approved of the way the government handled the GM bailout. I'm assuming it meant the Canadian government since that's where I live, but it then went on to ask me to register to take surveys and be paid for it.Didn't give me an option, it just said to press 1 if I wanted to join their surveys. I tried to hang up and the phone rang again, and the voice continued as if I hadn't done anything.

Frustrating when you can't speak to a person and ask to be put on the do not call list, or get further information about the company.
It's even more frustrating when you can't even hang up on them because when you pick you line back up, the call doesn't disconnect... what's with that?  That should not be allowd.  I am suppose to be on that "do not call list" and still continue to get these kind of stupid calls!!!

Horrible people starting ut with the government then going to register for taking surveys.  Ya... forget about the DO NO CALL LIST...  My answering machine is sure busy these days. You cannot block this #  because its a Government survey.

REPOST

How do you get rid of these calls and types of calls, look into a voip service called Vianet, out of Sudbury, and the quality of the call is superb (you wouldn't know it was voip). They have a cool feature of call blocking anybody UNKNOWN, or specific numbers, UNLIMITED times, and all those clowns that call just get a busy signal. I LOVE IT!!!!!!! My call block list must have at least 70 and counting.

But this info is just coming from a datacom technician/business owner that knows the trade, but I just love the feature, similar to Primus, but so far, unlimited #s to the call block list. I own a business, so I universal call forward my main line to the voip lines, and voila, no telemarketing, since business lines are not included in the DNC list. Am I losing business because of this, probably, but anyone that wants to intentionally block their # from my view is probably someone I don't want to deal with, or solicited by. But keep in mind, business is still good and I am still around after 7+ years!!

If you want any more info, contact that company and look into it. I'm not plugging them, as I don't plug anybody's service, but I give credit where credit is due.

Hope this helps, and by all means, this is not spam for that company, why?, 'cuz I never gave you folks my name or my business name down here in Windsor! Therfore, no commissions of any sort!!

Fight the fight citz, we'll beat these clowns!!

GM bailout approval statistic spammer.

I am on the do-not-call list (and it's not expired), so this RDDNET.CA Toronto company is break Canadian law.

1) Auto dialers with automated messages are ILLEGAL in Ontario at least
2) Marketing calls to people on the government operated do-not-call list is also ILLEGAL

Why is this company break these laws? Can I sue them or something? $500 per infraction I've heard somewhere. Ok then, I want my $500. How do I collect?

Today Dec 30th, received a call from 877-733-6385, I heard a few words in French, no idea what they were saying, I hung up. I am sick and tired of these people calling with their unwanted telephone calls. Can anyone explain why they are calling when I am registered on the Do Not Call List.

I Received 2 calls from this phone : Dec. 16th and 17th. I called back this # and got this message: "The voice mail box is not set up yet. So you can't leave a message. Please dial the extension you'd like to reach..." ===> This is the typical message of the telemarketing / poll survey companies...

What I found intriguing is that I couldn't add this number to my Call Screen list (which blocks the numbers I don't want to reach me). Bell System says it can't. Strange!!!!!. But even though, there are some means to get rid of these harassing calls. Here is my way to.

1) When you see an unknown # on your phone display, just pick up the phone, DON'T SAY ANYTHING, AND KEEP SILENT to know if there is a real person or a machine behind.

2) If it is a real person, you should hear "Hi" or "Bonjour" or any other introducing word... Then, you start giggling, sniggering, and sometimes you say some incomprehensible words, like ARKKKEHEUHEU, EKHEKH, etc (your imagination is the limit!). In this case, the person behind the phone considers your # as irrelevant or non significant, and then delete it from their list. He / she may be call again another time to verify / confirm that. In this case, do the same thing... And bye bye the harassing calls.

3) If there is a machine behind the phone, there are 2 situations.

3.1) The machine is a VOICE ACTIVATED SYSTEM. It waits until you say something, before starting. In this case, as you don't say nothing. the machine don't start and hangs up after a while. Note that in this case, the machine will call again twice or 3 times, before concluding that your phone # is irrelevant and then deleting it from the call list.

3.2) The machine is set to begin its speech 2 or 3 seconds after the call is answered, EVEN IF YOU DON'T SAY NOTHING. In that case, randomly dial as many keys as you can in order to overwhelm the system memory, WHILE KEEPING SILENT. The aim of this manoeuvre is to take the system to consider that your line is defective; this will bring it to delete your # from their call list. The system can call again another time before making its decision.

4) If you are not registered to Call Privacy or Call Blocking service, NEVER, NEVER CALL BACK to know whose number is. In doing so, you simply give or confirm your phone # to them.

Good luck.

To quote "fed up" - "1-877-733-6385 asholes called me June 12 am spoke only in French and kept repeating their message in French I live in the (905) area code"

Me too only on July 3rd. I called the number back and it said you could leave a message. I waited a long time for the beep but it was there! And I left a message alright!

I've gotten this call many times and my response now is the same as with other "Unknown" calls - either pick up the call and then set the phone down for about 5 minutes then hang up or answer it , wait 10 seconds , then hang up just as they do to you .
