PHILLIP AND BURNS..CALLED AND LEFT A MESSAGE FOR A PERSON NOT IN MY HOUSEHOLD SAYING THAT HE WOULD NEED TO SEEK LEGAL COUNCIL AND HAVE HIS LAWYERS CONTACT THEM WITHIN 2 DAYS.

K Golden 2011-06-06 21:04:47 Unknown
numerous messages left by automated system advising to call toll free number immediately to avoid further actions
simon 2011-06-06 21:04:47 Unknown
first they said they were lawyers and we owe a debt of somewhere between $2000 and $500 (it changes every day) for a car payment on a vehicle that was totalled and paid in full by insurance. They refuse to send any proof or info by mail. All the other websites I've seen related to this company say they are scammers.

numerous calls from this number..day and night..looking for our son..even had my Mother's phone number listed who has been dead for 6 years. Left the same kind of message..please tell him to call regarding a legal matter"..son called..He tried to verify social security number..did not match..so obviously wrong guy..but they keep calling anyway..left one message on our home phone saying there was some mix up, but rather than try to find the right guy still keeps calling here. Last time my husband was so angry he told him to "kiss my ___"..unreal!!!!!

same deal says you have 72 hours or there will be something sent out then 48 hours. They keep calling with the same pattern 72 hours to 48. Well, I haven't gotten anything yet...
Also they aer under the name Hoffman, Weinberg & Obrien.
They are a collection agency not A a law firm which they pose as at times.
They are down and dirty
Sandy 2011-06-06 21:04:47 Unknown
They called me and were looking for an ex I haven't seen in almost 15 years!! I live in a totally different state. How did they get my ###?
Sorta scary!
P. Ann 2011-06-06 21:04:47 Unknown
They call continually at all times of the day and evening via recording for our son and demand he call immediately with an identification number to correct his credit or a document will be on it's way in 72 hours, then 48 and then you're out of time so we're coming after you. He doesn't live here and we are in no way responsible for him and you can't talk to them because it's a recording...... Just more scum bag collection agency people.
Serious 2010-02-19 22:39:00 Unknown
These people are definitely legit.
Checking out my credit report, I saw that my Baleys Total Fitness debt was closed (showed as PAID IN FULL) and there was a new debt opened in P&B's name. They buy off the credit and make a settlement with the person.
I settled with them and have an even better score on my credit. They can be rude..but working with them and showing that you're honestly trying to pay off your credit helps the process.
Check your credit report before agreeing to make any payments with them though...just incase they have the wrong info.

received call from Phillips 877-743-9600 asking for David. I said you have the wrong number. They repeated what I said and was surprised. They told me that a David gave my phone # as a reference. I pressed them and they gave me the last name of Stein. When I continued to press them for answers they told me not to worry and they would remove my name.

I received a call from p and b capital group this week, which is also known as Phillips and Burns, LLC. They claim to be a collection/recovery agency. They had my married name and current home phone number even though my number has been unlisted for over 11 years. They were looking for information on an ex-boyfriend of mine that I have not seen in 12 years. I was very disturbed by this and asked them how they got my new name and number since I obviously was not married when I was with this man 12 years ago. Mr. Eric West, of this company, told me that they have access to a federal database used by the FBI and all he has to do is type in the social security number of the man they are looking for and all of his past known associates, friends, and possible relatives print out on a listing for them. So I said okay but how did you get my new married name, I have only been married for 7 years. He said the database works in real time and that even though my name was different 12 years ago, when I got married it updated and changed it and then when I moved into a new home in 2004, it updated again and changed my phone number. He also contacted my mother in reference to this ex-boyfriend to see if she knew where he was and one of my mother's neighbor's in a neighborhood we have not lived in for over 13 years to see if they knew where he was.
This is just ridiculous to me and actually very disturbing. This was a very bad relationship and it ended badly. It is very alarming to me that this company is scamming people out of money because they are a bunch of con artists, and at the same harrassing people to get what they want. It really bugs me that I could be found and linked to this individual after 12 years of not speaking or seeing him. I would really like to know how they contacted my mother as she has also gotten re-married since I dated this man in 1998 and is now under a new name, new address, and new phone number, but they still found her. WTH??????

Go to Bill McCollum's website (Florida AG) and file a complaint:

He does not take lightly complaints against crooked debt collectors doing business in Florida and has successfully prosecuted and given the boot those who reapeatedly break Federal and State laws:

Congrats Cindy you have done what you need to do. Now just wait and see if they call again. If they do, record it and you can sue them. Also look for other FDCPA violations such as failure to identify their name or themselves as a debt collector, failure to send written notice within 5 days of first contact, false statement of name, causing a phone to ring without identifying their purpose and harassment. Collect and record everything you can then sue them crapless by hiring a naca.net atty.

Phillip and Burns called me on May 21, may 22,23, and 24, 2008 and demanded I send over $5,000 on an alledged credit card debt that is pas the statute of limitations, even if valid.
They were nasty, tried to initimate me. I sent a certified letter with signature requirement repeating statute of limitations and requesting debt validation. I have not heard from them since. Letter was signed by them in the TAmpa, Florida office on June 5.
The alledge debt according to Phillips and Burns had no activity for 8 years, which is past the SOL in Florida but they still wanted me to pay.

A man just called 5/23 asking for my son Gerard. I said that he hasn't lived here for 15 years or so. He said and I quote "It is in his best interest that he return this call immediately, the number is 1-877-743-9600 ext 305" I tried to get more info out of him, but he said that federal law prohibited him from giving out any information. I asked his name and he said William Golden. This really scared me and I called my son and he said that his father also got a call from this person. My son assured me that he didn't owe anyone anything. I went on the internet and found out that they are harressing many people. Thank goodness for the internet. Jean Tucson, AZ

Got a call today at 1:20 p.m. from Phillip ad Barns claim adjuster by the name of Jasmine. She said she called it from the Florida office and cited a case number #411695. She alerted me to call her back or have my attorney contact them. After reading all these complaints, I now know that I don't need to do anything. But I am afraid that they might give this bogus debt to the credit bureau and it might hurt my credit score. What do I need to do to protect my credit from this criminal?

I got a call for my sister this morning and for some reason it didn't seem right. So I googled the number and got this website. I'm happy it's fake. The weird thing was is that they called my house looking for sister who as never stepped foot in my house before.

I have been recieving calls from one mr. rodriguez saying hes an attorney and saying i will be sued if i don't give them a large sum of money very soon (at one point saying if I didn't call back before the end of the day I might get sued). I have been documenting the calls and traced my debt from the bank to them, so I know I owe the debt, but they are literally making it impossible for me to pay...but of course they tell me I should get another credit card and transfer the amount. It scared me but I'm glad a I googled them. THANKS FOR THE RELEIF!
