Thanks!!!!

If they call, don't walk away from your phone, don't run away from your phone. . . but bury it deep within the earth. . . otherwise they'll harass you to the end of your days trying to get $500 from you.

I used to work for a company like this in 2000-2002 but the RCMP shut it down. I was very involved with developing the script and rebuttals and I can now tell you that it is 100% illegal. I was always shown proof that it was "on the level" and a "fine line was walked every day" but the day the authorities busted the doors down I knew it was a fraud.

These companies always have head offices in Quebec for some reason. Once the heat starts they will simply change names to have less BBB complaints. They may also have a "collections department" call you and they will have a different name too. This way the compliants are spread out over a bunch of different "companies". It's doubtful that they will ever go away completely.

They can't do anything to your credit rating. Trust me, just hang up on them. If they send you anything consider it a gift. They will not come after you if you keep hanging up on them. Do not let them record you to "verify" a "sale". The initial caller simply lies to you and if they are recording you later that is when the "sale" occurs.

The directory is useless; it's all info that is old and out-of-date.

The company also monitors sites such as this and the people posting on here singing the praises of this company obviously work there.

I made a company like this millions of dollars. I am shocked that they are still around as the RCMP was cracking down on them big time. They are like a fungus that won't go away I guess.

I could post the script and rebuttals if you guys would like. I had someone recently call me at my company and try to "sell" me something and I told the girl to quit while she was ahead because I wrote her script she was reading and also her rebuttals. She politely told me to have a nice day and hung up. She knew the jig was up!

If I can help out anyone let me know.
Laughable.

Haha.  they are a joke really. I don't mind calling them a couple times a day, to speak with my favorite person Carolyn(sp?)  shes a real sweetheart, hanging up the phone on me, claiming i owe her money for all the enjoyment she has provided me, not allowing me to cancel until i prepay for a year of service i didn't ask for (which doesn't make sense, if i paid for the year then why would I want to cancel it?... durrrr). I think she has a crush on me but is playing hard to get!..  so hey, why not enjoy the lovely conversations you get to have with them each day as they come up with creative new ways to play the recording they have of you.  wait.. wait.. yup here it is, i have a counter recording of them too..  they are telling me that they are sorry and they are going to pay me $489?  cool.

The same exact thing happen to us.....They call....they talk really fast....they ask who's in charge and then, they confirm your address and they send you an invoice for 489.89$.
It's crazy ! We don't want this service....we never buy any advertising because we fill our daycare spaces through word of mouth. We're a non profit organisation and we just can't pay this bill.
When we call them to explain.....the girl ( Linda) gets all upset and she plays back the recording of the 1st call....
I could tell from the recording that my employee was confused and her didn't know who was calling him and why....I could tell from the tone in his voice he felt pressured...and didn't know what to say...
I'am not paying this bill ....and be careful out there ....they're very tricky !
And they push to get their money....

I have had several arguements with these vultures. They Kept insisting I owed them money, and when I called and told Carolyn they were a bogus company, she proceeded to lose her mind and started yelling at me....very unprofessional. I told her I would contact my lawyer if they didn't back down. I decided to turn the tables on them, so everytime I received another invoice, I called and harrassed them. Spoke with the "supervisor" and she was a total b**tch (linda?). Anyways, finally, I gave them my lawyer's mailing address and told them to send a copy of supposed contract to him. Haven't heard anything since!!!

It wasn't so much as a call, but we were solicited on-line and now they want $489.89 saying we owe them money for services rendered and that we only had 30 days to cancel. Is there a way to delete this unwanted invoice and not have to send it to a lawyer

Just listened to the recorded call that my daughter had with someone named carolyn on the 12th of Feb.  At no time was she asked if she wanted information about what they have to offer, and in fact was only asked to verify company information as the manager of our business for the shipping dept. of look up listings.  Who the heck do these people think they are preying on businesses this way.  I just got off the phone to advise that there would be no payment for a service that we did not order and that I would be reporting them to the BBB and my lawyer.

These people call here at 3 times a day. I have never heard of them before. They keep looking for my mom, but then they somehow got my e-mail address & started sending me e-mails saying I owe them money. This is a definite scam. I just got off the phone with them about 3 minutes ago, & they way they speak to their "clients" is completely unprofessional. DO NOT SEND THEM ANY MONEY. If they keep calling or e-mailing & harrassing you, do what we're doing. CALL A LAWYER.

RE: Unsolicited services under false pretences

On November last year, someone in your company contacted my company asking for someone named Laura, and it happened that there is a researcher in my company named Laura.  The person in your company then asked her if she was the in charge of accounts payable and told her that Laurier Research Groups?s username was LAUR8484.  Since she did not have any idea as to what your sales person was talking about, she transferred the call to our book keeper whose name is Rocio Gil.

The sales person of your company asked Ms. Gil if she was authorized to write cheques and that the address of my company was needed to send and outstanding invoice.  Ms. Gil diligently proceeded to give your sales person her full name and the address of our company not knowing if this was a serviced requested by me, given that a couple of weeks before the first phone call from your company, I had hired a well established company to design and host my company?s website.

I have to mention that neither Ms. Gil or any nor other person in my company has the authority to enter into contract with any provider, especially over the phone.   More over, previous to those malicious phone calls, I did not have any written communication from your company offering any service to my company.

That been said, I strongly believe that the person in your company addressed our company in bad faith requesting a payment for an unsolicited service on false pretences.  I am returning herewith, as per our conversation of last December copies of the invoice and letter sent to us.
/..2

Please have your sales people remove our company from your calling list and proceed to cancel the alleged payment owned to your company.   Henceforth, please direct your communications directly to Pablo Fernandez-Davila, LL.M. (pabloca@fernandez-davila.com), who is the Legal Counsel for the company.

This is what happened to me, unfortunately it was during a very difficult time in my life, so I wasn't really paying to much attention even thou I should have been. I am the Manager of a company, these people called asked for me personally, (Unknown to me they had called several times and got my name & details of the company from a staff member) They informed me that we had been with them for a few years they were just updating our info & renewing the service They even told me the name of the previous owner & person they did business with so I thought that it was real. I didn't really agree to anything however they record you talking then they edit it to make it sound like you have agreed to go ahead with whatever it is they are doing. When the bill came in I was confronted by my boss I told him that I had not agreed to anything. He didn't believe me, said that a recording of me had been heard. costing him over $500.00 plus losing all trust for me, as he thought that I lied & I never. So please inform all of your staff not to give out details of any member of staff.

I got a call from Lookup Listings about a month ago. The person they were calling for was not around and I told them I could help them. They then proceeded to trick me into thinking that our office manager had purchased the service and asked me to receive a confirmation. I told them this was fine. I later found out that we had had no previous dealings with them and they had tricked me into "authorizing" the purchase of this service. They called repeatedly claiming that I had told them I was an authorized purchaser, which I am not. They threatened to play back a recording of my call back to our CEO to show him that I authorized the purchase, which I did not. Definitely a scam. Very aggressive reps, don't let them bully you into complying!

They called our business and all they said was "Hi I'm (whoever called) from Lookup Listings just calling to confirm your business information. Are you located at -- in --?" So the girl answered "yes" and then they said "and is the billing adress the same as the shipping adress?" "yes"... and apparently that made a sale. Now they've sent my co-worker to collections and Tina from collections is constantly harrassing her at work. They have my co-workers last name as well. I wonder if she doesn't pay this if they can do anything to her credit?

I recieved a call from lookup listings a couple of moths ago, and they told me my boss had authorized their service, and they just needed to confirm the details.
After we recieved the first bill for $489.89 (sounds to me like a theft under $500 charge to me), my boss asked me about it and we concluded it was a scam as we have never paid for internet advertising before.
Today we recieved a past due invoice, I called them and harrased them to the point they wouldn't pick up calls from my number anymore, so I used my cell and actually got her to swear at me and cancel the invoice...
