I too received a phone call from the same number telling me they were going to sue me for fraud for a payday loan that I supposedly made in 2003. By law they have to send you something in writing regarding the debt before they can take any action. Of course they refused to give me the information I requested.  I had a few choice words for them, and they hung up. I spoke with my attorney who told me not to call them back. When or if they do call back I was instructed to tell them that I was recording the conversation, and they next person that they would be talking to is my attorney. I hope this helps. By the way, the statute of limitations on a written contract is 4 years in California.

I just got a call from someone named CECE stating she is a private investigator and that they also had my name and SSN.  That there was a complaint brought against me and that they are srving me at a current address or work, that I needed to sign and return back to them.  She left a contact number for me to call 86-676-2361 and she ended with a case number and said " I have been offical notified".  See one were they messed up with me is I do not owe anyone anything because I weekly stay up on my credit.  Two most debt collectors state "This is an attempt to collect a debt and any information obtain will be used for that purpose".  I remember that because I worked for a law firm that has a debt collecting department.  They let you know from jump in you fault on your pymnt arrangements or choose not to set anything up they will be served by mail.  They never blew up peoples phones like that, and only a law firm can submit a judgement, if the debt collecting agency is not part of a law firm they will just keep calling to collect on payment sense that is all they can do.  So I looked this company up found them on BBB as not a certified agency and there were complaints already on them.  So please submit complaints, I only called the number to get the name of the company then hung up to research them.  People please research any company that calls you to get your personal information or collect your money

I got a call from this number that scared me really bad. They gave me a "legal case number" and were going to serve me at my place of work or home. The debt is all the way back to 2006. But I fell for it and they set up a payment plan with me for much more than the original debt. They kept putting me on hold "to talk to the other party" and coming back and saying "No, they won't accept that." Well anyway, I ended up making one payment to them, they were adamant that I couldn't call them and make payments. They wanted my credit card #. So my credit card was stolen so the 2nd payment didn't go through. They called, left a message that they were going to send a summons if I didn't respond within 48 hours and add a $1000.00 breach of contract fee. I did, call back (6 times) but this time I told them that THIS call was being recorded, that they misrepresented themselves as a legal company, were trying to collect on a debt that was past the statue of limitations. I asked for a call back and said I would report them. That was 2 weeks ago. I haven't heard a thing back from them. They're a***oles.

My husband got a call today (they called my cell) from Investigator John Parker because he got a fax this morning from CR & Associates Legal Firm that they filed a claim against my husband and that this guy has to come out and have him fill out paperwork. Parker stated that he was calling to confirm our address but since he couldn't get a hold of my husband... He never left any information to get into contact with him, but that if my husband had questions about the claim against him then he could call CR & Associates (and give them the case #) and we could try to settle this out of court. Oh, & he did say my husbands first & last name and the last four of his social. I don't know if this is a scam or if it's legit, but I kept records of anybody we used to owe and I've never heard or nor remember any company by the name of CR & Associates. I "googled" the company name and these people are out of San Francisco. I don't know what to do.... could I call our lawyer and see if he could look it up if they claim was real?? :/

I did call this number back and they are not a legal service, they are a debt collector.  It is illegal to them to show up at your home and make you fill out papers.  They did refuse to give me the name of the original creditor.  But I did ask for the address and correct name of the company after I gave my FTC complaint.
I am sending a cease notice and also would advise anyone to file a complaint with FTC, they can not threaten anyone to go to your home or for you to be arrested.
I was told they are CCI associates DBA Check & Credit Reporting Services
3806 Union Road
Cheektowata, NY  14225

Send a certified letter to them, they can no longer call....also a debt collector can not call and say they are a legal dept to scare you.  also against ftc.  i would ask anyone to file a written complaint against this phone number and send a cease letter and a letter for written validation.  I have a feeling this is a bottom feeder. also the girl in San Diego   I dont know who you are but they dont go house to house they may threaten to serve you papers to go to court but a debt collector can not show up at anyone's home and demand you fill out paperwork....Illegal.  and if they do show up at my home I will call the police and have them removed from my private property

Actually - no, I think they are scam artists. I received the same kind of call threatening they are serving me papers. I've never used the company they say are going to sue and also I am a victim of identity theft and told them that and they didn't care and said they would see me in court for me to prove myself. I have never been notified of any debt from these people and normal companies dont go from you oweing them to suing you without notification and trying to resolve first, These people would not give me any contact info so I could try to file a fraud case with them as all they are hoping for is that you will give them some money. These guys are scams and not legite

"They also refused to give me the name of the bank on the check, or the address of the check cashing establishment."

What does this tell you?

Tell them the next time they call you are aware they are attempting to extort money for a non-existent debt and have reported them to the FTC.

I just received a call from this number.  Like everyone else's call they stated they were some liaison legal department trying to collect on a check that I had written back in July of 2003 for $200.  The problem with this is I was in Iraq in July of 2003.

These guys even gave me a case number and a check number.  They also refused to give me the name of the bank on the check, or the address of the check cashing establishment.  Their initial call, the phone number was blocked.  And I did research on the so called debt collector.  The website for CCI and Associates ends in .uk.

Be careful everyone.

This company called me as well and left a very strange, terrifying message on my phone. I actually left work early thinking that I was in trouble. After breathing and praying, I realized that if someone wanted to serve me they would not give me notice.  So, I called the company and found out the following info: Name: CCR & Associates, Address: 3806 Union RD, Cheektowaga, NY 14225, Purpose: They are an arbitration company that tries to resolves disputes before reaching the court level (in my opion they are debt collectors). I found out that they are associated with unpaid Pay Day Loans. Most likely these loans have reached statue of limitations on legal debt collection

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:

is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.

If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:
Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.

Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.

Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft ? charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.

Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate ? but you think the collector may not be ? contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.

Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.>
