the caller ID that shows up is in fact Canada Trust.... but the phone number left for you to call is NOT Canada trust... also the reference number that you are given should be seven digits for it to be Canada trust

Those who are told that it is "TD VISA", and not "TD Canada Trust", BEWARE!
The phone caller identifies themselves as TD Canada Trust, NOT VISA. Then they turn their story around if you tell them you called the bank and was told everything is ok, by telling you they are VISA, not the bank. So I called VISA and they said everything is ok and the phone # is not associated with them whatsoever.
So if you ever get this call, HANG UP and call your local branch or visa as ASK THEM if there is something wrong. DO NOT provide any info to these people who may be scammers.
BE CAREFUL OF POSTERS HERE SAYING THE NUMBER IS LEGITIMATE. THEY ARE PROBABLY WORKING FOR THIS SCAM COMPANY. DON'T TRUST THEM, TRUST YOURSELF BY CALLING THE BANK AND/OR CREDIT CARD COMPANY DIRECTLY.

Ok, so I called the bank today and gave them the phone number (877-766-7696). The rep looked up the number and said that they have NO RECORD of that number in their directory, and to NOT PROVIDE ANY INFORMATION to the caller. She was very concerned that this may be a scam.
So there you have it. The next time they called, I informed them that I spoke with the bank and that they are not affiliated with the caller in any way, and that I will be forwarding their number to the police and bank fraud department for further investigation.
END OF CALLS.

You are living proof that your mother gave birth to a master piece. I suggest that it is about time these so called TD trust employees start calling you. Then we'll see what song you'll see...

I received two calls from this number today but no messages were left. I googled the number and saw others say it was TD and others say it was a scam. I called TDs easy line to get the real story. The number is not one of theirs. The associate Googled the number as well and likely saw this website. He confirmed there's nothing suspicious on my account and everything is in good standing. I can see how people would be concerned because the recording you get when you call the number sounds exactly like TD's but call the number on the back of your bank card to verify. Don't give this number any information.

I received a call from the same number! and didn't want to answer due to the amount of fog horns and telemarketers that call my phone!!! (I'm sure we all do!) They left a message saying to call them back with a reference# but I ignored it. Theyre very persistent so I answered ... Said I was late on my visa and it was to go to escalate in a week if I didn't pay the minimum! Shocked that someone was on the line that was friendly I'd let them know i'd look into it. The lady said if its my visa you have to call Visa centre on the back of your card and not customer service/easy line! Easy line is for your 'bank' products which they are over the phone. Explains why the teller has no information about my visa, and they offer for me to call visa centre. She was very helpful and said they get told that they're a scam all the time. Ive read the posts on here and it made me skeptical but turns out we're all annoyed of the telemarketing calls... or refuse to acknowledge that your bills have gone unpaid and would rather blame a phone# than yourself. its a phone call. Answer the phone or pay your bills and the calls will stop... i think thats called common sense? or visit a branch and talk about your financial problems (i did at one point) and get help if need be.

To all of you that is annoyed by the phone calls. Check your bills and compare yours payments.

As I was leaving my note here another one came in-- I work in a call center and we are not allowed to call till 9am no matter if we have a relationship with you or not-- I got a call at 6am this morning which started the constant calling- It woke my 1 year old up. I am not impressed at all.
PO'd 2013-02-13 14:18:15 Unknown
I have rec'd today alone 8 calls from them. I don't answer and I don't call back-- I just want the calls to stop. Going to email TD Canada Trust and verify the number and send it to the fraud department.

Keep calling for an employee. I couldn't give a rats tushie about collectors so I refuse to even confirm if they work for us. They can call their home number not bother me at my office.

I have been receiving automated calls from somebody claiming that they are from TD Canada Trust, phone number 877-766-7696. This has been going on for about the two months and I have received between four and six of these calls a day. Today I called a local branch of TD Canada and explained what was happening and asked if they use an automated phone messaging system. Their answer, ?No!?

this number 8777667696 has called every day for two weeks. They call

Alisha 2012-10-30 14:24:55 Unknown
just called asking for a member of my family who isn't really associated with TD Canada Trust much anymore, but we talk to one or two people only, didn't sound right to me, checked the internet and lo and behold another scam, 1-877-766-7696 on October 30, 2012 10:18am. Hate Scam's.

This is definitely a collection agency. They have been calling my place of employment looking for an employee who no longer works here. They sound as legitimate as any other collection agency. If they are calling/harassing you and you don't owe any money, call TD - because they won't stop trying to collect until TD tells them to.
Nicholas M 2012-06-05 18:14:39 Debt Collector
I received a call from this number, and called TD to verify.
Apparently, its a 3rd party collection agency company calling on behalf of TD.
Probably calling you about a missed payment.

I confirmed with TD Bank that this is indeed a bogus number, and this is a phishing fraud.
The number is fake - not TD Bank. Do not provide any information or respond to the call. Report it immediately to TD Bank and the RCMP Anti-Fraud Center.

Part of a fraud campaign targeting numerous financial institutions. Note the pattern of shill postings all claiming the number is real - an obvious giveaway.
The large number of phony posts claiming the call is real come from some con artists spamming the site to try to fool people. There is a similar pattern to other fake calls claiming to be from Chase, Citibank, Bank of America, US Bank, Wells Fargo, RBC, PayPal, etc. all with the same shill postings:

i keep getting these calls everyday from different numbers, all by automated machines that never are ablw to come up with my full name. On a daily basis i receive many telemarketing calls-and i have no idea where they even got my mobile number from.
i called back the number and all i got was a machine. if this is actually a bank-this is poor customer service. it is highly irritating and i plan to let them know as soon as i speak to a person.

Calls are coming in once a month to my phone. I do not have any issue with my banking account or my visa. I call TD and I am told everything is fine and not to release any personal information as this could be a scam. I am thinking someone else may have used my phone number on their account. But in any case, I have called my branch and confirmed all is well on my end. thank you

To all the people saying "TD employees told me they had no record of this as a TD number": I had the exact same experience recently with a different number that claimed to be TD calling. I checked the number with the branch and with Easy Line, and they didn't know the number. I was just about to report this to the police as a scam, but since the number claiming to be TD had left me a reference number (i.e. a number saying what issue this was about) I thought I'd try calling Easy Line directly one more time to check into this. The person went off to check with someone and after a long time, she came back and said "It turns out it IS actually TD -- it's the Recovery Dept." I was connected to the Recovery Dept. and it turned out to be a fairly simple issue, one I knew about, but they were just calling to make sure I would resolve it by the date I'd promised I would.
The number is legit, but what is TOTALLY unacceptable is how badly TD trains and informs its employees. It took me about five stressful calls to resolve what I should have been able to resolve in one simple call.
JS 2011-06-22 16:24:36 Debt Collector
This definitely *is* TD calling you about some sort of issue, possibly something like an overdrawn account. It's not a scam. The TD Easy Line people are unfortunately not always well-informed (understatement) and may tell you they know nothing about the issue. Don't assume this will just go away -- if it's something like an overdrawn overdraft and you don't resolve it, ignoring the calls will end up giving you a huge headache. If it makes you feel safer, call TD Easy Line directly and ask to be connected with the Recovery Dept.

No it's not, its a scammer!
I called the bank - nothing is going on - all is normal!
Phone your bank! Ask if your accounts are okay, ask if your credit card is okay. Then have peace of mind and laugh each time this number comes up.

In response to "annoyed's" comments. Why should anyone have to go to the trouble of calling their bank to see if everything is ok??? Most of us do not have the time to be told everything is normal, and duh no reason to worry. The endless solicitation is what people are fed up with - call ONLY if there IS a reason to call.
