Whether you are called a debtor or some collector thinks you can flush one out, you have rights and options. Many are simple to exercise if you only learn how. You are entitled to proof of claim and fair treatment. If you get neither, the collection agency should *not* win your assets. You are granted control of how you are contacted, the right to dispute debt claims, and the means to sue violators at low cost. The FTC and the CFPB can start you on your homework. See also if your state laws grant additional or stronger rights.

USPS Certified Mail again is your friend. I see stories like this every month about long term persecution by a debt collector. Nobody needs to endure that runaway skip tracing. My detailed advice for "not me" cases is found here:

The "fraud and waste of our taxes" was found in whatever school system failed to help you develop reading comprehension. The federal Do-Not-Call registry exists to help enforce the Telemarketing Sales Rule. Please note the operative term ''marketing''. A debt collector is not a sales person and is therefore not covered. Here are the DNC service terms you were supposed to review at registration time:
National Do Not Call Registry Q&A

Here's a peek at all the "nothing" done "to protect the citizens who register" from those entities which *are* covered:

Several comments in other threads suggest that CCS handles a whole portfolio of decedent debt, and rather aggressively. Don't let them bully or guilt you into paying what isn't your problem, and force an end to the calls with a "cease-comm" notice. Further reading from the FTC follows.

} Eventually, they will give up
Sure, after dozens if not hundreds of calls. Then one day there's a process server at the door, and you have no FDCPA ammunition because you ignored all the calls and deleted the messages. Document what they do and deal with them directly *on paper* if you want to keep your assets and sanity safe from dirty debt collectors.
| Resident47 2013-11-27 11:24:19 Unknown |
Reports to DNC are misfired. Debt collectors are not sales people. ONLY SALES CALLS are covered by the registry. Complaints properly may be sent to the CFPB, FTC, and attorneys general.

Another example of how not to combat a debt collector. These forums are for call recipients to share their experience and optionally offer advice. They are *NOT* direct open channels to the phone bank boiler rooms we comment upon.

These people have called me five times. Just today. But they've called for months looking for a guy named Dan Freeman. I don't know who Dan is. I've told them that but they still keep calling. I don't answer anymore. They show up as TOLL FREE CABLE on my caller id. I'm on the DNCL but obviously that is a wasted effort.

A friend from Virginia told me a rep from this company claimed to be from the I.R.S. collecting for state taxes owed. Gave him a false phone# and an address from Pleaseington, Ca. He has caller I.D. and gave me the real phone #. A reverse search gave me results showing C.C.S. Thanks for your comments.

They have been calling for about a year, about 10 times per week. Mostly, I just ignore the call, but 3 times, I took the call just to speak to whoever was calling. Each was the same the same thing. They said they were from Wachovia and had a question about my account. I told them that I have never had an account with Wachovia, and they refused to believe me. Then they gave me a street name, and asked me if I lived there. I told them that I never heard of that street in my life. Later, they read off 4 numbers, and asked if that was the last 4 digits of my SSN. I told them it was not even close. Finally, they appologized, and said they would "update their databases". Then it stops for about a week, and they start calling again, as if they have total amnesia! So, now I am back to not answering this number. I'll talk with them again in another year, and ask if their databases have been updated, yet. Complete morons!

Weird. They hang up when I answer the phone.
BTW, We are registered on the National Do Not Call list.
The government's NDNC department is bogus and should be abolished. They do absolutely NOTHING to protect the citizens who register their phone numbers on the national list.
The National Do Not Call List department of the government is a fraud and a waste of our taxes.

CCS calling on a holiday Sunday to talk
to the deadbeat former owner of my cell phone
number. He's not at this number any more!
It's a recording not a person. Recording says
"if we can't reach him here, call 1-877-660-2851".
I call that number. No answer! Hey bozo's don't
give a number out if you can't service it! No one
working on a holiday Sunday? Then stop the
auto-calls for the weekend. It ain't brain surgery.

Harrassing us for a bill in my brother's name. We are not responsible and he died. We are not cosigner and they will not stop the harrassment. This is unlawful.

Received a call from this number saying that they are CCS (Credit Collection Services) and that I should call them back regarding an unpaid debt. Problem is, I don't have any unpaid debts, and never have in my life. I previously received similar calls from another scam agency, but it looks like they gave up and sold my number to this new company. They are a SCAM! The best way to deal with this, is never call them back. Eventually, they will give up.

I have gotten 3 calls in 3 hours today. I answered the last time and told them to stop calling and take my name off of their list. I'm waiting to see what happens.

call the phone company and have them put a block on the number. If you use verizon, it can be done online. Its very simple.
