Debt Collector
I got a call from these guys today but his name was Mr. Carter and that he was from 1st IRS. He left a message and I didn't write the number down but then he called my sister and she gave me the number. At the end of the message he told me to call Mr. Carter to deal with this issue. Wasn't he Mr. Carter?  Anyways, he gave me a different extention to contact him which was 132.

You need to shut up and stop telling people to pay something back when they don't even know who the company is and don't even know anything about a loan, you must be one of these people STUPID.

YOU SUCK WRITING IN ALL CAPS.   What's your point?  Actually, depending on the state, there s a statute of limitations on collections and as far as I'm concerned, these people can go straight to hell with all of their threats.  *If* I owed another business money, that is between me and them.  These people were NOT hired by that business.  They bought a debt that they *hope* to collect on.  The business that was owed the money has long since written it off for a tax credit and won't see a cent if these so-called "lawyers" ever retrieve any part of that debt.

First of all I real lawyer would be more professional than to type in all caps. Second of all if you were a real attorney and know the law you will realize that the company these people are complaining about is breaking the law.

Pretty lady (and I seriously doubt it as bill collectors always lie), too bad you have to do such a shitty job.  Should have stayed in school and got a real job instead of scamming people for a living.  Better hope I never run into you or your ilk.  Like Clint Eastwood says, "dying aint much of a living".  Scum sucking b***h!  I bet you work for these A holes too!!

I have a message for the Attorny who is telling everyone to call.  I have called and they will not tell you who you owe the money to. i finally got who they were suppose to represent.  I had filed bankruptcy chapter 13 and I tried to give them my information, once I found out who they were suppose to be representing.  They refused my information and I told them that the company that they were suppose to be representing was notified that they were includedin the bankruptcy.  When I got off the phone I called that company and they said they did have my information and that that company was not representing them.  The company gave me their compliance number and they are investigating this company.

When I asked that number why I was not sent paperwork regarding what I was suppose to owe, they said it was sent to me, I had not received anything because all my companies that were involved in the bankruptcy had received the information including the company they were suppose to represent. I also open all my mail.

My lawyer had talk to these people and were told not to call my work anymore that they would be receiving checks from the Trustee of my account.  I still receive phone calls, we found out that this so called lawyers are in India.

So whoever you spoke to apprently lied to you.

I was paying all my bills until I was laid off, and I made efforts after that, however it's hard, so I did mine legally.  Thank you

Yes Lawal & Asociates is a law office.  Do they run a ligitimate collection agency?  No.  They have a total of 4 employees in the office ... Denise (Office Manager) ... Femi (Accountant) ... Remi (does something with insurance claims and ... A young Nigerian man that sometimes sits at the front desk.  I wouldn't trust giving my personal information to them based on the fact that they're not licensed to do this kind of work.  OJ Lawal mainly does taxes and there have been many people of whom have received letters from the IRS after using this office to file their taxes.

It is a collection law firm and they are resorting to whatever tactics they can to coerce payment from those stuck in the payday loan cycle.  They are not the IRS; They cannot criminally prosecute for a payday loan check (some states require at least a first payment-check your laws).  I had a bounced check at the local grocery chain.  They called me once.  They mailed me a letter, once.  The next notice I received was from the DA's office; not a collection attorney.  The DA's notice said I had a bounced check in the amount of $24, $35 nsf fee and $15 to the DA's office in 10 days or a warrant would be sought.  I paid in full naturally.  This is a clear difference in the experiences you all describe.  Consider this as a guide.  Even if they could prosecute, the DA's office will require a 10 day demand for payment.  In Texas, it is a state document and has to be sent certified mail return receipt.  I had another bounced check with another local grocery store.  I received several letters from the store, then a few from a collection agency.  A number of calls stating I had till 4pm to call someone back or they would take further action.  2 years statute of limitations to file criminal charges on a bad check, my two years are up next month, still no notice from the DA's office on that one.  I have also ran a red light since then; no surprise warrant.  Don't let them scare you.  Handle your financial problems; but don't be intimidated by strong arm collection tactics.

You are clearly an idiot.  I too am in the collection industry, 20+years, managing, recruiting and training.  Everyone can get a Payday loan, no one can put you in jail for it.  If the collector is breaking the law, it does not matter if the bill is legal or not, or the legal and moral responsiblity of repayment, if the collector is breaking the law, he should not be able to hide behind a "law office" title, it makes the industry hard for all of us.  It brings more regulations, more compliance restrictions, you're in the industry, you know what I am talking about.  I agree, the bill is due and payable.  Consumers should not complain online, they should do the right thing and find solutions to their specific financial problems, and if the are abused in the collection process, then take legal action against the company or "law office of" and put those who bring the industry down out of the equation.  Payday loans, postdated checks, they cannot be criminally prosecuted; you cannot garnish or attach a bank account in Texas, yet these collectors threaten it all.  You really have not read enough, nor do your statements help the industry.  Keep bashing the people who support your career.  If we didn't have bad debt, we would not have a job, and a very good income, who's in it for the hourly/salary?

A very inexperienced (apparently) collector called me from the same number on the evening of January 6th.  I started laughing.  I couldn't help it.  I just started laughing, because he was trying so desperatly to sound like a professional and simply could not get it together.  I think the fact that I was laughing so much, almost made HIM cry.  Now thats a switch.  BUT, BUT.....here is the deal.....  I took out too many pay-day loans that I could not re-pay.  The result, my bank declined the transactions and returned them.  I immediately started freaking thinking that I was going to get arrested for passing bad checks.  I started calling all of these internet companies, and working out payment arrangements.  However, Cardinal Management (who this dude was calling for) I could not get in touch with.  So, I contacted The Alabama Attorney Generals Office in Montgomery, Al, along with the Alabama Banking Commission and told them my problem.  This is what they told me....

1) Be careful and do not do payday loans on line.  If I have to do one, always do the store-fronts in my state

2) In Alabama, you cannot have more than 2 payday loans at a time, and these internet companies should have NEVER given these to me knowing that I already had MORE than 2 out.

3) If a check bounces to a payday loan company, pursuant with Alabama Law, the check writer cannot be arrested, unless it (the check) is returned due to a closed account.  (My account was not closed)

4) If the payday advance check bounces, in accordance with Alabama Law, the check writer is allowed to re-pay the balance in 4 equal payments over a 4 month period.

5) I plan on making good on all of these.  I do not intend to not re-pay them.

The problem here is, for example, on page one of this forum, the BILL COLLECTOR that posted, referred to all of us as MORONS.  They like to think that people that have to turn to PAYDAY LOANS are MORONS, so therefore they can tell us whatever they want to, and we will believe it.  THAT was exactly the case I had last night when this gentleman called me saying that they were about to process me into the DA of my current county of ressidence (which he could not even name) to have me arrested.  After I spilled the above 1-5 to him, he basically said he, "would have to check and call me back."  I told him to please feel free to call me back at any time.  I still have not heard back.  I still do intend to, and will re-pay this money I borrowed.

RESEARCH YOUR STATE LAWS!!!  THATS WHAT I DID!!  This guy that called me from this collection agency/law firm, began immediatley lying to me from the moment I picked up the phone and said HELLO.  Once I spilled Alabama Law to him, he told me, "GOOD LUCK" and that he would call me back.

I would be glad to pay this debt back if these A-hats would work within the law.
I have asked them time and time again, to give me an address and they refuse. I told them I would be happy to pay half the debt owed now and half next month. I am told no, they want all the money now and if I dont pay in full they will come to my work to arrest me..LOL..Yeah right...
I wish i had recorded the call today when I was told they were going to come arrest me at home to make sure my child sees me being arrested and that they knew when he got out of school and would be at home..
I have offered to pay 3 times now and each time they refuse.

I find it interesting that the assumption that the bill has not been paid. I very foolishly took out a $400 payday loan. I have paid back $1065 and supposedly still owe over $600. In frustration, I contacted my state department of financial institutions and was told this company was not licenced and was in violation of the state laws (Class C Felony). They were charging far beyong the maximum fees and applying too many rollovers. The only way to stop this predator from continuing to take money from my account was to close my bank account. I did. I have recently contacted my state department of financial institutions again and was told to ask Lawal for their license to practice law in this state and if they identify themselves as 1ST IRS, ask for the collection agency license for this state. They are attempting to collect on a debt that has been paid and I am not under obligation to pay any further. I am sending a cease and decist to all the addresses they have provided (3 different ones so far). I am also asking for proof of the debt again. I have asked verbally and they claim they don't have to provide one.

I have had this Lawall company call me for almost two years for a case that has been handled by my local law enforcement and fraud department with my bank. They constantly call my number asking me to pay something that I never borrowed. I found out who stole my information and have banking information showing that the funds were sent back to the providers but these retards keep calling my phone. I had to press charges to get my name cleared and everything. My concern is this....if they are so much of a law firm, y are they calling me over the phone saying that they have this on me and that they have my information??? y dont they do like all attorneys do when they have a case and take my a** to court??? subpoena me or something??? what u fake a** attorneys need to do is become real debt collectors who send out statements with their correct mailing address and contact information and man up. U R FAKE and U know it!!! call my number again and u will aggravate someone else because i have moved and changed my number to a private number that a real attorney would have to subpoena to get you nothing a** doody heads!!! HA HA HA!!! now take that to the bank!!! and u have a nice day!

This is for "Attorney Turner" (HAHAHA)...Are you aware of what the FDCPA laws are? You probably don't even know what that means. This so called Lawall and Associates has broken every FDCPA law imaginable. They won't give an address to send corespondence to...wonder why???? Why don't you tell us Attorney Turner? Because they know that if they give it out they will be SUED! But its ok because my attorney is investigating it and as soon as I win my case against them and they pay my debt that I OFFERED to pay back to the original creditor not Lawall...then I am going to share all my attorneys found information on Lawall and Associates with everyone and make sure that this company never discloses information to anyones family and friends again...As an attorney Mr. Turner I would think that you would be a little more understanding and see that people don't want their business spread all over the USA...but you probably work at this particular law firm and scam people everyday too...Get a real job buddy!

This "law firm" called our friends in Texas and told them that if we didnt call back immediatly that they would persue us legally....THAT MY FRIENDS is 3rd party disclosure. I work for a "Law Firm" and happen to know the FDCPA laws and it is AGAINST the law to give out any kind of 3rd party information like that. We don't disagree that we owe money to the creditor. HOWEVER...when we pulled our credit report we called the number 5 months ago that was on it to pay off our balance or settle it and no one knew where this account was in order for us to do so. So we were stuck in a hard spot and just said SCREW IT...so now these idiot "Collectors" think they are gonna call and threaten us..well guess what...I know the law and I plan to pursue THEM legally!
