My caller id said the number was a cell phone.....213-333-3206.  Completely the same story as the above......what a bunch of slimeballs.  I am going to call the state's attorneys office and give them the info.  Sadly, nothing will probably come of it.

I have gotten this call twice from a women with a very heavy Indian accent who talks very fast.  Said something about my computer sending error reports to the "windows department".  She said while I was browsing an infection got into my hard drive.  I asked for their name and phone number and she said they are MTL Software (I asked her to spell it) -1-877-778-9298.  I asked more questions and she gave me to a technician named Angel (if you can believe that!).  Angel wanted me to go to Start and asked if I had a Run function.  When I said, yes, all windows computers have a fun function, she asked me how I know.  When I said I use to teach computer classes she hung up!  I was trying to get as much information from her as possible so I could make a complete report.  I certainly would not do anything she wanted.  I have my own tech folks and they take compete care of my computer.
I do not know how they got my phone number, but they called a couple months ago using the same tactics.

The same thing just happened to me.  And when I told them not to call me back (they had already called me three times this morning), the guy told me he would call me 40 times today and 40 times tomorrow and 40 times the next day.  These are not nice people!  The guy who called me said his name was Michael Jason and he gave me the 877-889-9298 number to return the call.  I'm so glad I decided to check reverse look-up while I was on the line with him.

I got a call from "Windows Service Center" and they said that my computer is a risk and I needed to turn my computer over to them remotely so they could fix it.

It sounded like a scam and he said my computer was going to crash if I didn't let him help me.  He gave me 1-877-778-9298 and said his name was Ron Wilson #9989.  I called the Geek Squad and they checked out the number and feel it is a scam to sell me something. I am taking my computer in for them to look at it.

Please do not let these callers take over your computer, unless you initiate the call.

Just had a call from a very thick Indian accent, identifying himself as Sam.  Urgent that I get in front of my computer right away, my computer has been sending error messages to Windows for several days. He suggested that if we didn't do "this" my computer might crash.  I asked how I know he was legit, and he gave me this phone number to call back and ask for Sam.  It just didn't feel right.........

Received a call from this number telling me my computer was infected with virus and wanted me to give them access to my computer to "fix" the problem.  Heavy Indian accent and very insistent.  They knew my name and address.  I refused to talk with them the first time they called but they called back about an hour later.  Hope someone catches them and throws them in jail for running this scam.

They have called several times and I hang up  until this last time and was able to get this number from them and google it and found out that it was a scam just as i had thought it was. Windows needs to get on top of this and put a stop to it.

The person on the line says that I have a problem with my computer. And since I am a registered windows user, they are calling to fix it. He wants me to access my computer, to which I say , "No. It's not going to happen. I will call Microsoft Windows myself." He gives me this number to call "Windows" supposedly: 877-778-9298. I suspect it is a scam attempting to secure remote access to any computer.

Have been getting these calls for several days, and each time I hang up and ask them not to call me again.  I know it's a scam.  But when the call came today, I thought I would play along a bit to see if I could get some identifying information about of them.  I don't have caller ID, so I don't know what number the call actually came from, but the caller gave me this number (877-778-9298) and asked me to call back to verify him.

Heavy Indian accents every time they call.  They say they are from Windows Service Center and that my computer has been sending out error messages.  The guy who called today was "Justin."  He asked me to open a Run box and type in a command.  I know better than that.  I told him I would call him back to verify him.  I have not called back.  Instead, I Googled the phone number and found this site.

I don't have any further details.  I wish there were a way to catch these guys or at least make them stop calling me.

Got a call from "Justin" with "Windows Technical Support" who said there were error messages in my computer and that I should open a Run window so they could help fix the errors.  When I questioned him, he gave me this number to call to confirm him.  I haven't called the number back yet.  I know it's a scam, but I'm trying to figure out how to get identifying info from him so I can report the company.

A scam from someone saying they were Microsoft, attempting to getme to "fix" my PC by taking me to what I assume to me a malicious website. Of course I refsed, As a long time IT professional, working in, of all things, data security, I played along to get a feel for the game. They tried to impress me by looking at event logs, etc.  What a hoot.. Obvioulsy a scam.

I received this call thiis morning.  The phone number was the same as this, and the calller was likely from India with a difficult to understand accent.  He explained that my computer was sending errors to their server for the past 4 days.  All that he said was with a sense of urgency.  I thought were it that urgent and legitimate why request a call back.  Why not deal with it right now?  In this call, no money was mentioned.  I presume they count on my calling back before asking for money...which will never happen.
I was at work and the call came to my cell phone.  When I asked why he was calling my cell # and not my work number, as he had me thinking he was associated with the servers at my company.  He had no ready answer.

9/10  This is the 2nd call from a very middle eastern sounding individual.  He insisted he was with Microsoft Windows and my computer was sending them messages of a maliscous problem within my windows system.  He gave me 1-877-778-9298 to call him back on but reported the numbers
in sequences we would not normally use in the US.  A dead give away that this call was from outside the country.  He did his best to convince me it was legitimate and no money was involved.  I was sure it was a scam and after reading the above three emails I am sure I was right.

Scam, as best as I can tell.  Idea is to sell services by telling a scare story.

Confirm very heavy Indian-sounding accent.  I presumed first that this was from a call center in India, and I guess I never really changed my mind, despite their repeated insistence that they were more local than that---about which more in a minute.  I played along as long as I thought it was not dangerous, getting on another machine in arms reach that has Windows, while using my usual Linux system.

They folks asked me to get into Windows, then right click on My Computer, to get to System Management.  They tried to impress me with the error and warning messages in the Application Error Records---it didn't seem to deter them that my error log seemed to have had a consistent error rate for some months.  Then they tried to do it again with System Error Records.   At each stage I kept asking them what they would expect me to see, what I should be looking for.  They wanted to transfer me to their technician, but I persisted in being skeptical.

Claimed to be in Silicon Valley/Los Angeles---did not seem aware that those are mutually exclusive.

When I asked for a zip code, they first gave 46873.  When I pointed out that that was in Indiana, they gave me 90002.  When I pointed out that was in Colorado, I got what seemed to be the supervisor, and he gave me 80002, after what seemed to be some looking up.  Both the first and second person gave me
1/3 JOHNSON ST as the address.

They called themselves Windows Service Center, but at one point, after I proved rather dubious as to their connection to Microsoft, as independent---Microsoft manufactures hardware (!!!), and they are an independent provider of services.  I asked them how they got my name---I did not think Microsoft gave out the names of its registered users to independent companies, which is how they claimed they got it.  The supervisor also asked if I was connected using---he gave me an IP address that began, I think, with 10, but I don't remember the rest---it was probably made up, anyway.  When I asked for the number again, he hang up---after a phone called that lasted just over thirty minutes.

They really tried extraordinarily hard to stay in character.

I received the call from another number, 360-633-9006, Trikon is what appears on the caller ID. Caller also had a very heavy Indian accent. The man was telling me that there were problems with my computer and it was "sending out signals" that something was wrong. I asked him if I could call him back (suspecting this was a SCAM) and he actually gave me this number: 877-778-9298.  When I Googled the number, I found this web site.

I just received a call from there stating the same thing and they asked for Me which in my case this is my last name.  I was to the same thing that they were calling all windows customers because there is an outbreak of malicious virus and software on a number of customers computers.  The guy I spoke to Had a heavy Indian Accent.  They wanted to use a program to control my computer and fix the virus for free.  He gave two different addresses and said they were from a Microsoft Windows Service center.   He wanted me to go to my computer and he would transfer me to tech support.  Then they wanted $249 to fix the problem.
This is a SCAM
