I don't know who these people are but they called my mothers home (I no longer live there nor do I use her phone number,) claiming I had missed a package delivery from best buy and that they wanted to confirm that I lived at this address.  I said, I didn't order anything from best buy, they said it was paid for by someone and that it had my name on it.  I again said I do not know anything about any packages from best buy, and that if they wanted to deliver something they could have left it in the backyard as per the the sign that is left on the front door.  The guy on the phone claim his driver is new and must have not seen the sign.. and that he was going to re-deliver the package..  He ask if anyone was going to be home,  I said, yes (like and idiot of course,) but if no one answers the bell, he can leave the package in the backyard.  I assume its someone probably trying to serve me with papers and they were trying to confirm my address.

A got from this number called yesterday (2-2-2011). A guy said that he was calling from a courier service and was missing the last digit of my house number.  He mentioned the name of the bank with which I have a mortgage and said that I had overpaid. He said that he was trying to deliver a check from my bank.  Not too likely.  I am a perpetual "shredder" of all the papers that come here.  I don't know what his goal was.  I have cleaned my gun.

Has anyone actually figured out what it was about. I received a call from this number earlier today about a package from Macy's... like an idiot, I confirmed my address (in my defense, I just got engaged and have been receiving gifts). Is it some sort of scam? Or is it an outsourced collection type thing?

I received a call from 18777860697 on march 2nd to confirm a package that I was receiving for my birthday from macy's. They wanted to know if i would be home today at 12 noon to accept this package. I was really suspicious, but I do have a birthday soon so I played along. After some research I found this number to be fake.

I received a call from this number stating that I had a pre-paid package from Macy's that needed to be delivered. When I informed them that I had not ordered anything from there they told me that it was marked a "gift" and that it was all paid for.  She then told me that the driver was at the house last week and had left a note, one in which I did not receive.  She then said that there were complaints of the driver not leaving them and that could be the issue.  Then she asked what the best time would be to deliver- said I am in & out all day and would not confirm when I would or wouldn't be there.  Then she asked for a password and said that it was where I work- I am currently unemployed. I told her that that couldn't be right and that there must be a mistake, she insisted to send the package at 11am tomorrow don't know what to expect, I think I will just call the police in the morning.

I just got a call from them but not about like any of the posts above.  The caller claimed he was with "Elite Jobs" and as I am actually looking for work I didn't really suspect anything out of the ordinary.  But now that I've seen this thread and thought about it long and hard, I think they might be a debt collection agency.

They called me yesterday (March 7, 2011) and asked for one of my in-laws. While my in-laws lived with us once, they moved out over a decade ago. It would seem that they are no longer "trying to make a delivery", but are a "employment service". My caller claimed to be from Chicago Job Bank.

They're scumbags.   They're operating outside of the law.  They're info. mining for debt collectors.  They aren't debt collectors themselves, they are subcontracted and handing info. over to debt collectors.  They are not asking you for money, they want INFO that they sell to "legit" debt collectors so THEY can harrass you for money without using dirty tricks.  Which, is just a shell game - anyone that uses them is themselves dirty, since they KNOW how this company works.

So, anyhow.....

They lied to me, told me right off the bat they were calling with a job offer.  They said they were "Elite Enterprises" and had an offer....  only problem?  I haven't applied for anything in years.  I also moved and haven't given a single person my info on ANY applications since I moved years ago.   So, right off the bat it was qu***.   Which is exactly how I handled it....   I confirmed nothing, agreed to nothing, didn't even agree that I was the person they wanted.

They can go to hell.  PARASITES!

Anyone that's not going to follow the law can go to hell.  Welcome to America.

Oh, should I mention that they called back FOUR times in ten minutes to harrass me?  Sure, why not.

Everything this company says is a LIE.   Count on it.

Prank Call
Just received a call .  They claimed they were doing a background check on someone who was looking for a job.  They gave me a phone number that was supposedly provided by the job applicant.  I said they had the wrong number.  And hung up.  10 seconds later the man called again and asked why we hung up.  And wondered what our phone number was " in our opinion."  I refused to give any more information and disconnected the phone!!

It seems like an information mining company - reason I think this is they called me today, said they were "IT Staffing", had my application and would like to talk to me about a position.  I was curious and followed along and they basically glazed over what position they were talking about and cut to the chase, said "I see you work for "so and so" company"....the company they named was from over 10 years ago and has never been on one of my resumes or job applications - the only place it shows up is on my credit report.....so I stuck with their game and they continued to ask questions about where I work now, I wouldn't name the company, told them I would only talk about the job and not the employer....and they started pressing like a collection company does - "we have a position for you but can't make the offer unless you tell us your current employer"....click!

I have a law office that has a judgment against me and has been trying to garnish my wages for 3-4 years now - unsuccessfully, I might add, and am paranoid about that, so I think that's what this was.  I give them a "10" for creative but a "2" for using information that was 10 years old to bait the trap.....silly on their part.
