A new twist on an old scam has surfaced and this time it involves false links to the Yellow Pages.


The scam involves telemarketers calling businesses to say they are verifying information for a pre-authorized listing in a directory. The call is recorded and later used as "proof" that the listing was ordered. The goal is to trick the business into believing it is obligated to pay an invoice for the listing.


The company, which is based in Ottawa, is using the name Your Yellow URL. The company is even going so far as to suggest that it is endorsed by, and connected to, the real Yellow Pages - which is not true.


The Better Business Bureau says there are no repercussions for companies who do not pay Your Yellow URL. So don't bend to their pressure tactics.

I got the same problem with this company, with phone call every two days. They said I have 2 years contracts with them, which we never did. How do I get rid of them?

I am geting threatening letters for collection from this scam - they don't answer phone # have they taken anyone to small claims court?

I thought it was legit too. In fact, all I have found out about them is based on some complaints on the internet. It looks like someone is posting negative comments to make them look bad. maybe it's one of their competitors?

So, you know who they are.
You feel they were 'super helpful'
You allegedly were throwing out invoices
You have an employee allegedly rnuning roughshod over you alleged business.
Yet, for some odd reason that can only be beyond any believable explanation, you felt compelled to look this number up.
You are a lying troll for the scammers.

Don't send them any money.  It will just reinforce their belief that they can bully and intimidate businesses and individuals into paying.  Saskatchewan BBB advised not to pay them.  You would be better off filing a complaint with a government enforcement authority.  The lawyer's letter has no teeth.  They could never get a judgment against you without notification from court, which would give you an opportunity to give your side of the story.  Be strong and these guys will eventually get their come uppance.

After extensive research, there is a lot of negative posts about this company on the internet. I can't find any actual documentation supporting all the complaints. When I called the company after recieving a lawyer's letter they were super helpful. It turns out that I has been throwing out all the invoices because I got bad advice from this forum. They played a tape of my employee clearly authorizing the advertising. It seems to me that you folks need to check out your facts before you throw more oil on the fire, and cause other people to presume things that may not be true. Get it from the horse's mouth like I did.

I managed to get a hold of Mr. George Calaritis. It turns out that he's really a lawyer and not a "so called" lawyer. I started the convo with guns blazing; It turns out he's just a messenger. He explained to me that his notice letter was based on invoices provided to him by his client. He recommended that I call your yellow url and take it up with them which I did.
I called them and they played a recording of me accepting their product...

Maybe I was wrong?

The exact thing happened to us. Nobody approved this advertising, but one of our employee's got a call from Yellow URL back in November and she never agreed to any advertising, nor is she authorized to do so, except for the owners of this restaurant. We received several invoices and now just received a letter from a M. George Calaritis, apparently a lawyer in LaSalle, Montreal. I don't think this guy exists, as I can't find him on-line. I think this is definitely a scam and will be reporting this to the BBB.

I had the same thing happen to me also.  This is dated back in November telling me I will receive a CD-Rom, which I did not and I have received a letter from the so-called lawyer.  Every time I want to talk to the accounting department or the last call came from a guy named Robert Rings leaves a message saying he would like this matter on my account cleared up please call 1-877-787-5875.  Then I also receive this letter in the mail from the so-called lawyer.  I say this is a scam.  No contract, no signing anything -  this is a scam.

So what do we do about the letter from the lawyer?

Samething has happened to me.

I also recieved a call stating I would be sent a cd dvd which never came.  Now I have been sent a letter from a so called lawyer Me George Calaritis saying if I don't pay i will be going to court and they will put levies against my property or other assets.
I have called the number and there it is never answered.

We have been recieving bills from yellowurl and have refused to pay them. Today we recieved a letter form the Quebec lawyer saying they were going to file a lawsuit against us. Can you tell us what happened with yours. We were in the process of sending them money just to get them off our back. Please advise. Thank you

I definitely can subscribe to all of the above. They are scammers, there is no doubt about that. We clarified that we never authorized a listing,
we clarified that the person who supposedly authorized it has no authority to legally bind the company. We asked them to send us proof of the authorization and never received it. They keep harassing us and to top it of, today I got a threatening letter from some lawyer in Quebec to take us to court and start legal action.
I reported it late January to the Ontario Provincial Police as a phone/internet scam.

This company went as far as saying they were working with my sales agent at Yellow Pages! Anyway, I have received many letters from them stating I owe them $. The first clue was no signed contract. They have gone as far as sending me a letter from a Lawyer/advocat called Me George Calaritis from LaSalle, Montreal. He stated I must send him the money or legal action will be taken. I have filed a formal complaint with the competion bureau stating the lawyers name as well.

Hey I own a salon and these guys called me pretending to be yellow pages. Anyhow, same deal, I didnt order anything, they sent me a cd rom, and then sent me a bill for over $500, which was also backdated. After numerous attempts at calling I sent a registered letter, and they sent me a letter last week from "george calaritis"..a lawyer threatening legal action. What gives? Im considering showing up at their door in ottawa.

I've just dealt with them for the last time today. They sent me a letter in the mail claiming that they were gonna take me to court if I didn't send them their money within 15 days. Posted this complaint on facebook and everyone started finding the scams all over. Now I know for sure that they are a true scam!!

Caller identified themselves as the Yellow Pages. Received the useless CD-Rom and did nothing with it. Started receiving invoices, however the phone number was incorrect another business) and then left messages that were never answered. Figured it was a scam and then received a letter from Me George Calaritis, a Quebec based lawyer today. Called the company to say we didn't order their product and waiting for a call back.

I have been refusing mine for months and no collections yet...I doubt it! When I called to raise a fuss...they hung up on me..The know they are scamming

I have many online ads that generate a LOT of business, and I have pai ZERO for all of them! $500 for a few lines of worthless info is a stupid move.
