This number keeps calling both by house phone and cell phone. They keep saying they have a file with the ss# under my name? Today I got a John Melborne, he says that his staff has been trying to contact me. Then he states that he needs to verify information and time is running out.

Received a call from a John Nelson saying there office has been trying to reach me to close out some file. The next day get a recorded call from a Stan Lowe saying he will be forced to send my file to a legal entity and that I better return this call immediately, although there office would be closed on certain days. LOL! I called the number from my cell phone all morning (today) and no answer, not even with an operator. Just got someone - they are saying I have a debt with a bank that I have never used and they want to verify my social securty number.

I told them I was reading **this** post and that they are a scam and would be reported. The guy claims my number will be deleted from their system.

Getting the same calls as others, from John Nelson, telling me "my staff has advised me".  Never asked for an individual, never said the name of the organization from which he has a "staff". Leaves messages on my answering machine. As I have no bills or other "files" that I do not know about, I delete the messages, but it is an irritation.

Same just happened to me ! Thank you so much for this posting as I was intimidated.
A John Nelson called saying that they have a file on me and to please call them back at 877 792 0095.ext7000
I was busy and left early , came back late for a few days and did not reply. I got a call, barely audible message from a woman spoken so quickly who could even understand it ...  from a law firm that is a debt recovery agency yesterday... Thomas something from Chris somebody about having my file referred to this law firm DSC....
mentioning Regis and Associates 877 530 1000 xt. 181. No mention of name , what it's about or why this is happening all of a sudden and her spoken message so unprofessional I began to wonder for her safety,
she sounded scared.

I have had the same experience both though snail mail and calls.
They are attempting to collect a claimed overdraft at a bank I never held an account with and have threatened lawsuit.
Through certified mail I asked them to provide full media validation as required under the Fair Debt collection Practices Act.

Their mailed response "To whom it may concern: We have received your request for validation of debt.  We have confirmed with our client the accuracy and correctness of this debt.  Sincerely, Customer Service"

I forwarded the issue to the Oregon Department of Justice Financial Fraud/Consumer Protection Section.

I saw the number come up on caller id and answered "FBI southwest division how can I route your call?"
It got quiet for a second so I said, "This is the FBI cyber division investigations your number has been tracked and noted please state your name and company or be prepared to certify within 1 working day".....never heard from these jerks again. Fight with words....it's fun.

I just recieved a call from Nelson...same thing...running out of time, need info on file, blah blah. When I called number back, got a recording, and then an automated phone message called me saying attorney Bogart blah blah...so I hung up, googled the name and number and found this site. It doesn't sound like anyone else has recieved a automated call back. Frustrating but now I'll relax I guess knowing it was just a scam or hoax...but does this mean that I have had my identity stolen or what???

They were looking for Michael D. at my phone number.  I have had this phone since it was born in 1978 and there is no Michael!  Never has been.
Mesage was about granishment of wages and I was to return call by the "file" number.  Did get in touch with Mr Thomas after a few transferes  and asked that he remove this phone number from their lists.  They never identified the company or the state so am not able to report to any attorney general office!

These jerks are with Regents Asset Management Solutions and use several different phone tactics and numbers to contact individuals.  I have prepared a second "cease and desist" letter that was faxed and will also be mailed (via registered letter so I'm sure they've received it) to their headquarters in Kansas.  If they don't stop calling and communicate in writing what they want from me, I plan to pursue legal action for harassment.  Check out their Better Business Bureau rating...it says a lot about their practices.

If you are receiving repeated calls from this bunch of shady operators, I would suggest you find a cease and desist letter template on line and send it.  Legally, they cannot continue to call when you've sent a letter.

Got the same message from this number about needing to verify information on file.  I called back, and they asked if I was "William (something)".  I replied that I've never heard of him, and they apologized and said they would remove my number from their list.  They didn't ask who I was or for any other information.  Didn't seem to be a scam, just a slightly shady bill-collection practice.

I just got the same number calling me and they do not identify themselves and they do not say a name or a business name. Just stating to call back to verify information of a bs file on their make believe desk. I would not recommend NOT answering this because it's probably fraud when they ask for your ss#. Please people don't be stupid. Contact a lawyer before answering the phone for a scam company. And no reasonable person would ask for a ss# over the phone. ALSO, please think of the purpose of certified mail. No ligit company would do this over the phone!

Got the same call-cut off at the start and John Nelson was the caller, had files, blah blah blah.
but since I had requested hospital records I called the # back even though I'm a cautious person.
I stated that I received a strange phone call and wondered what it was regarding, George Williams said that he was trying to reach John Smith.  I told him that was a common family name and if he could narrow it down a bit, he told me he had his social and told me my brothers middle initial. hmmmmm
I asked him what this is regarding and he got flustered and wouldn't tell me then asked for my brothers #, I'm not stupid, I didn't give it.  I got his name and extension #, called my brother, got on this site, told him everything, then filed a complaint with the FCC and the Do Not Call Registry.  The oddest thing about this is that I've only had this phone # hooked up for 5 months and one of the first calls was to the Do Not Call Registry.  Report them

Charli got it almost right - pretty good for a slurred name over a phone line. This outfit is Regent Asset Management Solutions, Inc., based in Denver with call centers in Overland Park, KS (Kansas City area), Murchison, TX, Las Vegas and Phoenix. The are, indeed, buyers of junk debt lists and well known scammers. Don't answer their calls, don't give them even your name, don't have anything to do with them. If a legitimate debt collector is after you for a legitimate debt, he can send you a demand letter and proceed from there. Of course, for that to be effective he has to know who he's calling in the first place. Doesn't seem like these birds are doing anything other than trying to get names with SSN, etc., from whomever answers the phone and then drum up a panic attack on your part so you will be foolish enough to send them some money (or, the bonanza for them, to get your bank account number and routing).

Called and said they were Lukehart and Associates law firm.  Asked for my husband, I told them he was at work, then they went on to ask what he planned to do about a 17,000 deficiency amount from foreclosure that happened in 2006.  We did have a deficiency.  Now I am scared.

What sort of information did you give him?  If you gave him a bank account number or credit card number or social security number you need to call your bank right now and get the accounts frozen before Mr. Stanley empties the accounts.

I received an abnormal message Tuesday morning from this number; I called back and ask for Mr. Stanley.  Mr. Stanley got on the phone, and asked for my information.  After I gave him my information, he stated that I owed his department 25,000.  And that I needed to pay it by end of business, or they would be forced to send two men to my condo.  I asked him why two men would be paying me a visit, and he stated that it is more affective to express the seriousness of this matter in person.  At that time, I told him I felt threaten with what he was telling me and that I am calling the police.  He told me if I called the police it would make matters worse for me. I then Hung up.
