We've been getting several calls from 1-800 numbers which, when Googled, all turn out to be Citibank collectors.  I usually don't answer, but we just kept getting more and more calls.  Finally got a human on the other end yesterday and today.  They both asked for someone who shares our last name, but is a complete stranger (same name each time).

I told them they got a wrong number, nobody by that name here -- don't call again.  They still call.

We do NOT have ANY Citi accounts.  And we do not even know the person they're trying to reach.

Guess we've just gotta learn to love it, 'cause it ain't gonna stop.  In fact, I expect, it will get worse.  Tooooo bad, soooooo sad!

The guy on the other end was very unprofessional and I think it's a 3rd party that gets a fee for harrassing people. He new nothing of my contacts already with the legit Citi Bank customer number. I'm going through a short sale/foreclosure with Wells Fargo and dealing with Citi Bank (AT&T Universal Card) on a large balance with their legitimate number and specialty negotiations dept. I'm getting these calls AFTER I negotiated a pay off with Citi Bank. They offered 70% of the balance with one missed payment. The guy from Citi bank told me to wait until one day after the billing cycle and call back and they will lower that percentage. If you have ANY issues with these banks contact the Consumer Financial Protection Agency or Bureau . They were set up to monitor the 25 billion dollar law suit against the big 5 banks. I did it with relentless calls from WF through their web site and within 3 days I got a call from WF head quarters in Iowa. Went right to the top! Calls stopped immediately and I finally got to work with someone who was actually helpful. One call, same person and I got action. I highly recommend doing this. It's very easy to file a complaint with the CFPB

I actually remember then calling a couple of years ago, when my husband had been unemployed for 4 years  , after 30 years as a director of engineering and a huge aluminum plant...well all of a sudden we couldnt pay, tried to work it out with them, she said, dont you have family you can borrow from,? i said no both parents are dead, and she said well, what about friends.? oh she went on and on with crazy stuff, way over the line..

Thank you,  the best $50 I have ever spent.  I have all kinds of unwanted calls blacklisted and it does hang up on them on the first ring.

I just wanted to add that although I don't know for sure who is calling me, it appears from other posts that CitiBank is calling. As some other people have stated, I don't even have a card or account with Citibank and never have! And, I sure don't think I would want to, with this kind of treatment. I sympathize with everyone else; I hope something can be done about these kinds of calls.

I have been getting calls on my cell phone from someone at this phone number, and I will not answer my phone. They have been calling me every 3 hours, day and night, and anyone who is that rude in my opinion doesn't deserve to be spoken to! If I did answer the phone and said something to them, they wouldn't like what I had to say anyway, and I know i don't particularly care to hear what they have to say to me, either. So I figure I might as well save us both the trouble of my answering the phone. I just try to ignore them, but it is becoming very irritating.I always try to pay my debts, but this is rediculous! I don't care if it affects my credit or not, since i don't use a credit card and never will. I don't have much money, but if I can't afford to pay for something in cash, i don't buy it.I don't need it that bad! If they were nicer to me by backing off a bit and not calling all the time, I might decide to be nice and answer the phone, but their feeble attempt at reverse psychology definitely isn't working! I think i may just block that number from my phone and be done with it.!

Citibank calls me between four and six times a day.  Harassing people for money is not going to get bills paid any sooner.  Are they?  I'm sick of it and I will report them.

It is Citibank. I went on their website to post a payment on my account. Before they allowed me to proceed, the asked me to provide an updated phone number. I gave them my cell phone. Just one day after I made a payment, I got a call for the 877-792-8215 line? How ironic, when no one calls my cell, unless I am getting a call from work. These people are worse than lone sharks, and are a bunch of Crooks who can away with they stuff that they do. CITIBANK is part of the NWO, and the banking and institutions are trying to runs governments and honest people into slavery! We have no protection, they own us all!

They are the worst to deal with. If you try to work out a payment plan with them, they won?t settle unless you work out a monthly plan that works for them. Our tax dollars bailed their a***s out, why can?t they keep that in mind and work with customers who are trying their best to pay them??

I am sick and tired of these calls. Four calls today. Called them back yesterday and was assured I would be taken off the list as I do no own and never owned a citibank card. As soon as she hung up within 5 minutes I received another call. Today I received 7 calls, all citibank so I got rude with them and a supervisor came on the line and said the first person did not remove me from the list. He said he was looking for somone with a similar name as mine. I told him I do not owe anyone, was elderly and so is my husband and I have renal failure and tired of all the stress with phone ringing all the time. We have always paid our bills, married 49 yrs and owe no one so why are they picking on us??? This does not mean anything to them, its just a job no one wants and they try to be tough. I worked for the State Gov. and know lots of people so if it doesn't stop I will seek some type of action. I wish they would give me the person's name, they have me mixed up with, I would take care of it myself. Just beware of these people. N.

I called this crazy number back yesterday and was told they would take me off the calling list. I told them I do not own a Citibank card and who were they looking for. She said this was private info and she could not tell me except that someone had put me down as a reference to call. I said give me their name and I will take care of whoever it is but she said she could not. Nothing is going to stop this but I did tell her that my son surveyed out FBI building and he could very well get these calls from harassing his parents. She said I am sorry and your name is being taken off. 5 minutes later I received another call and today already have one. What else can be done? K.

I have been receiving 5 to 10 calls per day from this number 877-792-8215 as well. The calls have been coming in for approx. two weeks now.  They occur all hours of the day from early AM to late PM.  If this isn't harassment, I don't know what is...  If this "is" CITI Bank, I will close any accounts we have with them and never do business with them again, simply on principle.

Anyway, I finally figured out how to stop the calls (see instructions below) - I have Comcast phone service, so if you have another telephone carrier, you will probably have to find specific instructions for call screening.

On Comcast phone service how do you block someone's number from calling you?

What is Call Screening and how do I use it with my Comcast Digital Voice® service?
When you don't want to be interrupted by certain callers, Call Screening allows you to create a list of up to 12 numbers that will receive an announcement indicating you re not presently accepting calls.

To use Call Screening:

Lift the receiver and listen for the dial tone.
Press *60.
A menu of options will guide you in managing this feature. The prompts will enable you to activate and deactivate the feature as well as add, delete, or review the numbers on your list.

To cancel Call Screening:

Lift the receiver and listen for the dial tone.
Press *80.
When prompted press 3 to turn the feature off.
Note: When creating your list, enter the area code plus the 7 digit number for both local and domestic long-distance numbers.

I hope this helps someone...  I seriously can't believe a company as large as CITI Bank could resort to harassment for either sales and/or collections.  This practice is pathetic and appalling.

The calls from them are not classified as Telemarketing if their purpose is collections.....

I completely disagree with all of the negative comments. I read them before I called the number back, and I was absolutely dreading it. The person I spoke with was very polite and kind, and he scheduled a payment that worked for my time schedule which stopped the calls. I was very, very pleased with my experience and so glad I returned the call!

I have received 4 calls from 877-792-8215 today starting at 8:13 AM and just got the fourth at 7:39. I see from comments from other regarding this number that it is someone from Citibank. I do not have an account with Citi and I do not use their credit cards.

There was one message left telling me to call them about an account. There is nothing I have to interest these people and I would like the calls to stop. I signed up for the "Do not call list" but it seems like that is a waste of time. I can ignore the calls, as I have, and I have put this number on a reject list. I just think it's not right for these calls to be made.
