I have received several of these calls.  I called them back to tell them to stop calling me.  It is the Firefighter's Charitable Org.  Most of these orginizations only give about 14% to the actual people that should be getting our money.  Beware.

Many calls from this telemarketer.  They do not identify themselves and caller ID only gives the number.  Judging by previous entries, this is a scam.
Verizon no longer offers "Call Block" in this area, besides they never blocked 8xx series calls (the caller pays).  Any way to get rid of them?

A Lady was saying "I don't know...I asked God what to do.." very strange!

Got a call from from claiming they were sending me a packet on behalf of the American Breast Cancer Society at my address which she then read off which was incorrect. When I told her it was wrong she got all snippy with me and asked me if I recently moved. I said I never lived there. She said she didn't pull it out if thin air. I then told her to put me on their do not call list. She said they didn't have to as they were a charity. I told her she was wrong that once I told her to she was required to stop calling she then said we were getting nowhere and hung up. I called back and spoke with a supervisor who said they had problems with this and would reprimand her. Yeah right!

Dozens of calls I never answer.  This morning they called at 8:30 am. Thanks for all the information.  Glad I checked.  I will not answer these horrible people.

Caller claims to be collecting for breast cancer research.  Will not take no for an answer and attempts to make recipient feel guilty and ashamed

Decided to confront these guys this time.  Waited until someone on other end said hello.  Told me they were collecting for emergency personnel such as firefighters in my town.  I asked, "what town is that?"  It took about 30 seconds for him to give the wrong answer.  I asked, "who will get this money besides the telemarketing company for which you word?"  He hung up.  These are scams.  If you want to contribute to your local firefighters and emergency personnel, go to your city or county website.  You'll find the information for making donations.

Just got a call from this # They didn't say anything at all. I have a caller ID box that blocks #'s so they're now blocked..

Calls begin about 9:00 am.- two or three per day.  It is a telemarketing company which is contracted (the telemarketer initiates the contract) to collect money for charity.  This time they claim to be collecting for firefighters.  Such contracts require that the telemarketer give as little as 8% of the monies collected to the targeted charity.  In addition most telemarketers have a stipulation that a certain target amount be collected before any money is turned over to the charity. Consequently, they may never give any money to the charity.  You are merely donating money to the telemarketing company.  You may also want to know that the charity could be anywhere in the world.  They may send a few dollars to India and they've met their contracted requirement.  Don't be fooled. Never donate to these callers.
