They keep calling, looking to collect a debt for a name we have no association with.  I tell them that the person they're looking for has nothing to do with us or this phone # (especially since the phone # they keep calling is a business line).  They get ugly, rude, pushy, and insist that we have the liability for this other person's debts.  I tell them again that we are not the name they're looking for and ask them to stop harassing us -- and they get uglier still.  Does anyone have any clue how to get these reprehensible, ethically-challenged, dishonest twits to stop calling and harassing us?  Heck, it would be one thing if we actually were the person they were looking for -- we're not!   Our name, the name on the phone #, isn't even close to the person they're looking for.  How the hell did they even associate us with this other person?  How do we protect ourselves and get this harassment to stop?

This phone number is for Pinnacle Financial group. They call me numerous times a week from VARIOUS numbers. They're calling to collect for a t-mobile account. Typically when a debt collection company calls you it is via auto dialer. It usually takes a couple of seconds from the time you say hello to the time a rep answers you (the computer is connecting you to a live person.) Which is why you are greeted by silence when you answer. This is usually a dead sign of a collection company. Sometimes the computer drops the call before you are connected. Either way it's irritating. Another dead sign of a collection company is ?I?m calling in regards to a personal business matter.? Debt collection companies do no have to abide by the do not call registry, as they are calling to collect on a balance owed and the registry is to protect people from soliciting or people trying to sell you something. Its stated clearly on the DO Not Call website under More information - Information for Consumers NOT CHARITIES, SURVEY'S POLITICAL CALLS OR DEBT COLLECTORS. BUT collection companies do have to abide by FDCPA Laws and if they have the wrong number and you explain that to them, they are not suppose to continue to call. The FDCPA is also the reason they do not leave messages, as it is against the law for them to do so. I will leave this message on every phone number they call me from.

Calls every day asking for "Cher" though I've told them no one by that name has ever lived here, but they keep calling anyway. Very annoying. What gives bill collectors the right to harass everyone on the planet?

I also got a letter today and my name matches the name on the letter. I've also been getting calls from them for a while but never picked up.

The letter indicates that I owe PayPal over a $1k. I never had a PayPal account so I am worried that someone may have stolen my identity.

Anyway, I called 877-796-2561 and spoke to Brenda. She was not nice, not rude. She said that an account with PayPal was opened in my name in 2007. They used my exact name, address and phone number. I told her that it was not me. She said that she will contact PayPal and check for IP address or some such. She said that she may get back to me in case PayPal requests that I fill out an affidavit of fraud. She also said that I may actually not hear from her (in case PayPal decides that the account was fradulently created) and if that's the case, I should call her in 3-4 months to check on the status.

So, what do you guys think of all this?

I received a letter from Pinnacle today for a paypal bill they say is outstanding.  Name incorrect on the account (but close), and my paypal account is in good standing. I don't want to call the number because they will then have my phone number.

Can anyone confirm whether 1) this is a continuing scam, and 2) is pinnacle a legitimate company?  Do i need to do anything or ignore?  thanks

ok i got your answer the a**holes that keep ring a dingin is Pinnacle Financial Group.... these dill holes call at all hours of the day numerous times sometimes up to 5 times in a row! that is something a stalker or a dope fiend does they need to be eliminated. but if you would like to call them sometime and b***h at them.

Called me again. I got them on my contact list as "DO NOT ANSWER" and when I see it, I do not answer. They ain't looking for me. They are looking for some one else. And they do not leave messages.

Pennical Financial. Sounds like a collection agency. Asked for a company that I have never heard of.

I've been getting calls from them about 10 times a day for two weeks.

Calls a few times a week, no message, no idea who they want, definitely not me.

Someone from this number has called my home 7 times in the past 4 days.  Today I finally answered and they are looking for someone named Louise ?.  When I told them they had the wrong number and to stop calling the woman asked me why.  I told her she was bothering me.  She told me I didn't need to yell at her and I could simply tell her she had the wrong number.  These people are awful.  How do we get rid of them?

Why the hell would you give them personal information? They should ask you who they are looking for, then you just tell them it's a wrong number, if they refuse to remove it threaten to sue their a**es, if they hang up call them back or call the corp # back

I trusted them and gave some personal details. Later that day someone opened new credit accounts in my name! They are identity thiefs!

I called and told them to remove my number and that I filled an FCC harassment charge.

They start calling me at around 8am, and continue throughout the day. This has been happening for the last two to three weeks.

Who ever they are, they are annoying. They asked for Leala and I said there is not one hear by that name and they asked why would they call if there was no one there by that name. I said a few choice words and hung up

keeps calling me every morning then hanges up 15 seconds after answering. it is about 9 am and one other time before noon every day.

Super annoying!  They call me all the time and I usually ignore it.  I finally decide to pick up today to see who it is and no one answers.  I call their toll free number and it just goes to VM.

If it is Paypal debt collectors, that adds to my annoyance.  I have a negative balance in my account because a client reversed his payments for no reason other than he didn't want to pay me and Paypal upheld the reversal even though this goes against their policy.  They are only supposed to allow reversals of payment if 1) the goods were not as described, defective etc. or 2) the credit card was stolen etc.

So since there is apparently nothing I can do, and please be aware of Paypal's shady policy, I have been slowly but surely putting money back into this rather large deficit.  We'll see if they actually stop calling when it's finally paid off.

I received a call from this financial group about a $40.00 debt I had with Paypal. They call and never keave messages - so I called them back. I have already fixed the debt with Paypal and my account is back up and running. So, all I had to tell them was that it had already been payed through Paypal. So - he asked when it was paidand how I paid it (luckily, I kept records). I told him and he updated their records. They weren't rude or snotty. Hopefully I won't hear from them again.

But - if they are calling you and you have a Paypal debt - that's probably what it's in reference to.

Continuous calls for months from 877-796-2561.  Asked them to stop.  I don't owe money and don't know the name (common first name) they use.  Complaining to the FTC was useless--got no response

I just got my new phone 2 days ago, and this number has called 8 times in 2 days asking for someone that I've neer known.  I explained that I just got my new cell phone, and apparently, they won't remove me from the list.  They can keep wasting their time.  It gets VERY annoying!

Claiming you are an FBI agent or any other law enforcement is illegal, and you could get into more trouble doing that then the ones on the other end of the phone.

They called me for a while but I dont have a land line, i only use my iphone. I added a blacklist app and now they can call all they want....they get to hear my pre recorded message telling them to f-off and the best part is they cant leave a message and my phone wont even ring or chirp...lol

Hello everyone, yes, this company is Pinnacle Financial.  They are a collection agency and think that being rude will get you to pay them up front.  Here's why those SOB's are so rude.  Let's assume you have a delinquent credit card, instead of calling the card company and saying can I make a settlement with you, you just let it go.  Well, this company, will buy your notes for pennies on the dollar from the bank so the bank writes off your note.  Now, the collection agency is your debtor, and they will try any means necessary to collect that money, and yes, some will actually charge you interest on the money when you don't pay them.  I have had dealings with them myself.  After the first RUDE call, well here's what I do, it's called "get back jack, or your going to go deaf"....when I see the number I will answer it, and when the person asks for me by name, well, I have this tremedous whistle, and I blow hard into the receiver, and trust me, it will deafen you for minutes.  Now some of you may say, well I might try that and they still call back....well this is because they have a few people in the office, and the guy or girl that just got the whistle WON"T want to call again she hands it off to another rep.....eventually all the reps will be getting deafening sounds, and NO ONE calls back....it's been almost a full month, I did receive another call, but they opted to send me a nasty note instead through the snail mail saying I owe money.......LOL......just get a whistle and BLOW......have a happy holiday everyone....
