I just received this text @ 9:21 P.M. about a $200 Walmart gift card. I called the 877-797-5028 and a girl with a phony accent said she would send me an email to claim my winnings but she needed my MC or Visa card number for a $5.00 processing fee...NO WAY!! DON'T EVER GIVE AWAY YOUR CREDIT CARD NUMBER OVER THE PHONE to something that shady. Just hang up!

Its a scam. There are similar complaints against other numbers on this board.
I know of 2 ways it can work
1 - legal
To get the gift card you have to sign up for some sort of "shopping club". The club costs $49/month and is useless. It takes months to get the club cancelled, The club membership fees are more than the value of your winnings.
2 - illegal
They talk you into giving them your credit card number or checking account number to pay a small shipping and handing fee - typically about $2. The then buy stuff with your credit card or empty your checking account.

I got the same text. Never subscribed for anything or entered an award lottery at Walmart. Does anybody know if this is scam or what is it all about?

I got the same text just now, not sure if it is a scam.

My mother received a text that states the following:
Thanks 4 visiting our website Call 877-797-5028 to claim your $200 Walmart Rebate Voucher! Reply STOP 2Unsub.
Now my mother is 78 years old and would not know how to go on a website if her life depended on it.
Any info would be appreciated. Fraud has to stop.... seriously thinking of taking the information I have obtained and filing a police report.
