I received a call today and the caller said he was a dispatcher for a legal services firm, but didn't know what the "papers" were for, just that they needed to serve them.  The caller had my full name and my cell number, but the call was for my stepson and I was told that mine was the only contact info they had.  This is a load of very smelly brown stuff!  My husband just called the number and gave them probably too much info, but someone answered anyway (even though according to the original caller, their office should be closed now as it's in a different time zone.  I'm thinking this must be some kind of scam and am very concerned that they had my full name and cell number..... I don't trust this.  Thinking about calling the police about it.

Shawn Kinney from this number called my place of employment and asked if they could serve me papers.  He was told that only law enforcement could serve papers so he left a message with the person he was talking to telling them to give me a message to call him so he could serve me papers.  This person has called me, family member and even people that I am not related to but have the same last name.  I have also talked to him and requested I be sent a letter of this debt and he said that was done a long time ago and he was not sending another one.  Will not give me any info about the debt and will not give me a name of who he works for and an address so I can send a letter telling them not to call me or anyone I know.

They called my ex boyfriend wouldn't tell him what they were calling for just told him he had one hour to get a hold of me. When he told them he would do nothing until they told him why they were calling the person on the other end became very nasty, so much so my ex hung up on them.

Great advice posted by an attorney on:
http://800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-718-732-0174

"IF they do not provide you with the verification of the debt, the debt is invalid and not subject to collection.  PAY NOTHING TO ANYBODY UNLESS THEY PROVIDE YOU WITH WRITTEN VERIFICATION OF THE DEBT, AND ONLY THEN IF YOU FEEL THE DEBT IS VALID - otherwise, let them sue you for the debt, as a real law firm will only bring a legal action on a truly valid debt".

Debt Collector
Called my inlaws and asked for my current address so I could be served a court order and summons.  I called them back to find out what was going on they said I needed to a debt from a super old credit card that I almost sure I already took care of.  They also said they sent me a letter to validate the debt, which I never received and was told they wont send it again.  Sounds fishy, I will wait for my summons and court order.
