do not call list is for solicitors. In other words if they are selling a product. Gulf Coast Collection Bureau is trying to collect on a service that has already been rendered.

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!!!!!! I've been getting a call just about every other day, for the past 6 weeks. I did answer the first time, they asked for an Andrea, No Andrea here, I tried blocking the calls, I don't answer now......I will try calling Mr. Brown, and if that doesn't work, Better Business Bureau, is next on the list.......If I owed, or had something outstanding, I would understand, pay the bill and be done with it, but I'm not Andrea, I don't owe monies, so Mr. Brown will get a call........Thank you again.

Well that depends. They can call your work and ask for you, but they cant say why they are calling. They can ask when is the best time to contact you - in other words, they are asking what your work hours are. Your recourse is to notify them that you are not allowed to accept calls at work. Once you do that (and put it in writing) they can no longer contact you at work. If they did ask for personal information such as your home address, etc. then yeah, that's probably going to be a violation. Here is a good website to look at that generally covers what is and is not allowed as far as debt collector activity. Check your own state's statutes on these also. And if it continues, contact an attorney that handles creditor harassment. Most do free consultations and most will work on a contingency basis if they decide to take your case. Good Luck.

The operator from this number called and spoke with a secretary and began asking her personal questions about myself then got an attitude when the secretary refused to give out someones else's personal information over the phone. Is that even legal for them to ask...wtf???

Never answer calls without knowing the caller or identifier. There is a new service called NOMOROBO - it's available on the internet as NOMOROBO.COM - easily installed - free and it blocks those robo calls. One ring and the line goes silent - the call goes to heaven I suppose anyway no more running to the phone to answer - no idiot to talk to, aye life goes on. Plass this along to your friends because sooner or later these morons will have to either pay a person to dial or go out of business. Ray Dillard is not the department store Dillard's - just another bumpkin in Florida, sipping beer and watch the birds!

Never answer calls without knowing who is behind the number or identifier. To stop these calls simple install NOMOROBO - it's free and can be found on the internet at NOMOROBO.com - you'll hear the first ring then the line goes silent while the call is blocked and sent to heaven, I assume. Works great - since it's been installed on our phone the aanoying calls have stopped - no more insurancefrom California, no more calls from Punjab India etc. Try it and pass it along to your friends - sooner or later these weasles will be forced to either hire callers or quit the business of harrassing other people.

Did not recognize number on call history. I just got a letter from them that they have an account for collection for USF Health for an amount that I can't figure out. Oddly, all my healthcare providers are part of USF Health and I see one of them at least twice a month. Seems someone would have brought a past due amount when I checked in....just sayin'!

Gulf Coast is a Collection agency... And yes, if you have monies due they will call.. Being rude, etc. is SOP, but you really can't get them to stop.. Merely suggest to perhaps keep in writing only and/or ask for Originally Billing to check their validity as a Collection.

Gulf Coast Collection Bureau doesn't want to be calling the wrong person either. Simply call back and calmly talk to them. They are calling from numbers supplied to them by the original creditor. If they have the wrong number, let them know.
Keep in mind that sometimes mistakes are made. It is better to call and clear it up than to possibly have an outstanding bill (that you thought your insurance company paid) reported against you on your credit file. That could cost you increased interest rates on furniture or car loansfor years or an outright denial of credit altogether. Just be calm and explain the situation. They will try to help correct it.
As to those you say they were yelled at or treated rudely, know that all calls are recorded. It is usually the called person, not the agency that is yelling or being rude.

My story was exactly the same as Kelsey's. Is this some sort of scam?
kelsey 2011-06-06 21:04:52 Unknown
they actually called my cell phone; i missed the call but later tried calling it because i didn't recognize the number and it just said gulf coast and started conecting me to a representative. i told them that i saw their number on my caller id and if i could give them my number and see who they were calling for or why. he was very short and didn't seem to understand me but said that my number was associated with someone else, maybe this woman had my number before me? but i told them they had the wrong number on file and not to call anymore.
Carole 2011-06-06 21:04:52 Unknown
I am also sick of getting random calls from Gulf Coast Collection Bureau because they are looking for someone with the first 3 letters of their name, the same as mine! I finally found the solution!....
President of the company is Jack Brown and his home phone number is 941-924-4037. Have fun, call him anytime day or night! ;-)

Please stop calling us. The message says "We have a very important business matter to discuss with you." I don't hear anything else because I hang up. I have gotten a daily call from this company for at least three weeks.
circe 2009-10-03 22:34:58 Unknown
Received a message around 9/30/09 stating that he had some important business to discuss. Roy Dillard, 877-827-4820, ref. file #U94364. My antennae went up and I googled it. Thanks to all who have helped me identify this as a scam before taking action on it.
