"as long as a number is provided on your caller ID it's legal for the caller to call anyone" is false AFAIK. Unless you have an existing business relationship with a business, it's not legal for businesses to telemarket you if you're on the DoNotCall Registry. Charities, surveys and political calls are exempt from the Registry but everyone else is supposed to honor the Registry. The Do Not Call list is of no use anymore...I found out that newer laws provide an escape hatch: as long as a number is provided on your caller ID it's legal for the caller to call anyone!  Another political ploy.  When will our government begin to act FOR the people????

Just receivede a call from 877-834-0569 and we are have on the DO NO CALL LIST like forever and I do not think it works as we keep receiving these calls all the time.  Just do not answer or pick up and hang up.  It is a NUISANCE to say the least.  Cannot understand why the Government has not taken care of this as yet.  However, it is understandable as not much is done by the Government!!!!

Called them back and asked to be placed on their do not call list, AND to be removed from their mail solicitations.  As an AARP member, they have a ?right? to call me.  Lady I spoke with seemed very helpful, and apologized for any inconvenience.  She advised that it could take 3 days for the do not call to take effect, and up to 3 months for the mailings to cease.  Both seem reasonable times, certainly to update the phone list.  And, AARP probably has several months of mailings already in the pipeline with their contract printer-mailers, which they probably use - doubt it is done in-house - from which individual addresses cannot be pulled.

On DNC LIST.   Keep reporting to FCC to no avail.  Goes to AA  theres hang up without leaving message.  Doe no good to rpt calls.  I did ever call for about 4 mo.  All keep calling.

This number is indeed AARP.  I dialed this number back prefixing my call with *67 so they couldn't trace my number.  I called them 25 times, one time after another.  I identified at least 4 different voices for the recorded message (same content each time), and 18 different people answered.  I'm retired and decided to harass them the way they were me, with multiple calls and no message or even a sound (oh yeah, I muted my microphone for each call).  What if everyone who is tired of getting these kind of calls did this? Wouldn't make any difference if the FCC didn't do proper follow-up on the Do Not Call List.

Just what good does it do to be on the do not call list , the scumbags just keep calling .

She said she was from AARP asking for my first and last name, telephone number and other numbers to give me more information and more benefits . i am 34 years old from Greece last year and do not know AARP. i do know not to give anyone my name and numbers on telephone in USA or Europe.

I also keep receiving calls from thes pesty telamarketers.  I got smart and bought a panasonic phone system.  You can block all calls you don't want.  Once they are on the blocked call list, it rings once and says call blocked.  They are blocked until you take them off the blocked list  Wish I would have had this phone a long time ago.

I get these stupid calls all the time and I am so tired of them. Now when they call, I wait till the 3rd ring and then pick up the phone and press a number button and hold it down for a good 30 seconds and then hang up. I know it won't stop them, but it makes me feel better. LOL..........

i get them every day from this number many times a day.  I am on the DO NOT CALL list however the telemarketers know the FCC does not enforce the list.  The FCC is the problem.  If they did their job these calls would be eliminated.  Until then unplug your land line and plug it in when you need to make a call.  Hopefully you won't need 911.  The FCC is a joke!

I saw it was an 800 number, so probably a sales person, robo-charity call, or political survey.  I just left the phone offhook for a long time, waiting for an eventual hangup (my way of costing them money by tying up their system for this unwanted call to me).  After about 30 seconds of silence I heard a robot lady saying she was gathering Social Security information for AARP.  I didn't provide any.

No msg.

I am on the no call list, yet I keep getting calls from 877-834-0569.  The phone rings and nobody is on the other end.  I no sooner hang up, and the phone rings again.  This just happened 6 times in a row.  I got the number with *69, however I can't do a *60,...WHY!!!!!!!!!!!

Left no message on the answering machine.   If Congress hadn't allowed this kind of junk to get through we wouldn't have all this.  Too bad we can't forward on the the congress like Boener and the rest.
