I forgot to mention:

The callback number they gave me was 1-800-236-8873.  When you google it, you will notice that results are slim and unhelpful.  I also noticed this number has been removed from one of my favorite lookup sites.  very shady.

I am still getting voicemails from "<rep name> at US Bank for <not my name>" asking for me to call back asap.  Wondering if some jack*** who used to have this number owed a debt, or some other jack*** just gave them the wrong number.  I have NO DEALINGS with US Bank.

I have received many calls from this # in the past few weeks. IT IS A SCAM! I spoke with two different agents at US Bank's fraud department and they said that you should under no circumstances give them any information. If you have a banking issue call your bank directly from the phone number on the back of your credit card. A legitimate bank would never ask you to confirm an account number with an automated system. The woman at US Bank said she was passing the number along to their fraud department for follow up and reporting to the government.

I think this is a scam. I called the number back and the first thing that came on was an automated voice asking me to confirm my credit card number. I highly doubt a legitimate bank phone number would ask for that information without confirming an identity first.

I answer phones for a small business. An actual live person called twice from this number today looking for the owner's son.  I told her that I answer phones for this business from MY home and not at an office, but that I could pass along the phone number to him with instructions to contact her.  About 2 hours later, she called again and I assured her that I had sent him the information but that was all that I could do.  She was actually very pleasant, but I HAVE programmed that number into my phone with the owner's son's name attached to it and if she continues to call non-stop, I WILL be having a not-so-nice word with her, that's a given!!   I asked her who I could tell him was calling and she would not give out that information saying, "It's regarding a personal matter".

Letter in mail; called and talked to a Jessica around 630p. Informed recd and sent last payment and stamp on envelope. Said making note and her voice got louder and intimidating. Said might add late charge if paid May 1st vs. now. "Jessica" asked for last 4 digits of SSN and address to verify. Gave landline telephone # vs. cell.  Calls 4-5+ times a day.

Not only is # debt collector, it is a telemarketer. On Do Not Call Lists - State and Federal.

They don't communicate or see if paid before making call or they would fond out paid or not a customer at all. Must use same printout only.  NO communication. Calls on weekend (both days) also.  Have strong accents.

On state and national Do Not Call lists.  The callers don't seem to care.

They try to get customers to give SSN, bank, personal information or credit card accounts to use themselves or for a friend.

This unknown company goes by 'cardmember services' and will not disclose what card, what company, or anything about their business. Their sole purpose seems to be collecting personal information from unsuspecting consumers who type in a random credit card number in response to their phone prompt.

Please be smart and do not give your personal information without verifying who is calling. Ask the caller. Don't just assume it's your bank just because they ask for your account information.

I have reported this number to the Federal Communications Commission for investigation.

Never, I say again, NEVER give any information or bank account information to a voice on the telephone that calls you
out of the blue.
You have absolutely NO ideo who they are.
Caller i.d. means NOTHING.
Scammers spoof caller i.d. 's and can make anything show on your caller i.d.

Never do any type business or payment by phone. Never give your bank account info either. Especially over the
phone. Whether you called them or they called you.
Always do business by U.S. Mail ONLY !

If for some reason it is a legitimate bill and your sure of it. Still do business by U.S. Mail ONLY !

And if you make a payment__  never pay using your own checking account , NEVER write them a check on your
checking account !
Always buy a postal money order or bank cashiers check.
If you pay them by check from your check account, they then have your account number and they will make an electronic
check and EMPTY YOUR CHECKING ACCOUNT AND IF YOU HAVE OVERDRAFT PROTECTION THEY WILL RUN IT TO THE LIMIT.

NEVER, NEVER, pay with a  debit card, or electronic check or with any type check from your account.

Always pay using a U.S. Postal Money Order only.... Keep all copies and receipts.

however , always remember if the debt might be real, make sure it is not past the statute of limitations.
Because if it is and you pay even one penny on the account, you start the statute limitations clock back to day one.

Always make sure how old the debt is, making sure it is NOT close to or past the statute limitations.

Always refer to any debt as an ALLEGED DEBT.

Keep in mind that  THEY RECORD ALL CALLS .

BEST THING IS ___ never talk to any scammer, bill collector, collection agency, or anyone over the telephone !!
Tell them you do business by U.S. Mail Only !! Tell them bye and hang up.

Remember that they lie. They will lie and deny it later. Over the phone you have no proof of any agreements the promise.

Doing business by U S Mail, you have it in writing. A written record. If they try scams then. it could be possible postal fraud
they commit.

Pay attention___

Give the scammers plenty to do and they will not have time to call you or anyone else trying to scam them.

Get online and search on  PAY DAY LOANS.
Go to each and every one you can and apply online for a free interest rate quote and free information.
Make up a name, address, and such. BUT WHERE IT SAYS PHONE NUMBER --- put the phone number of
the scammer  who called you as your own phone number. Those sites sell the information to thousands of
other companies who then sell the information you entered __ i.e.  the scammers phone number.
Soon the scammers will be getting calls from every tom, dick, and harry company trying to get them to apply for a pay day loan. They will get one call after another, answering their own phone-- THEY WILL NOT HAVE TIME TO CALL PEOPLE
TO SCAM THEM.
They will be answering calls from companies trying to get them to apply for a pay day loan. Keeping them busy.
Aggrivating the scammers to no end.

Second--- Get online and search on--- MORTGAGE INTEREST RATE INFORMATION

Go to as many of those companies and request the free interest rate and other information they offer for free.

using the phone number the scammeers used to call you on
enter that as your contact phone number.

Apply for free interest rate and other info to as many of the companies you can.

They all will start calling and trying to sell the [ scammers ] loans, etc.

Keeping the scammers busy and heck.
The scammers will not have time to call innocent people trying to scam them
They will be busy answering their own phone.

Beware! There is something out there called a spoof card. They could put a legit number posing as the real people, but are actually thieves calling from anywhere. Just because your ID says it is a number from a real place, it may not be. BE CAREFUL.

Just because your ID says it is a number from a real place, it may not be. BE CAREFUL. I think this should get out to people before they compromise their personal info to a thief who put a real number into their spoof card to appear they are actually a legit company when they call you. When in doubt do not tell anyone on the phone who calls you ANYTHING. They are getting clever to fool people now, and you have to know before it is too late.

If in fact this is a legit number, then they should identify themselves on my ID. It comes up as a unidentified toll-free number. It could be anyone, and they are kidding themselves if they believe any smart person will give them all the information they may want. If they are a collection service for various banks, they need to let people know. In this day and age (cliché I know) of phone spoofing, scams and such, they deserve to receive nothing as far as personal information from anyone they contact under a nameless ID. As far as I am concerned  they are unprofessional and if I ever fall into a collection service for payments on various accounts, I shall ignore anyone that calls under that sort of shady ID display. They could claim to know anything about you. Who knows where they are calling from or who they could be. Contact the bank directly if you owe money. Don't fall into the hands of potential scam artists, Be careful.
