Isn't it against HIPAA for doctors to give out patients' names?  I would never trust anyone who called and said my doctor gave his permission to call me.  My doctor won't even confirm or deny if my own daughter is a patient of hers.  It's against HIPAA.

Sorry buddy, but the concierge practice in North America began in the mid-90's. Asia has been doing it for hundreds of years and Europe's been doing it for many decades. The rate of these has been increasing rapidly since they began. The health care reform set up insurance to warp medicare, or high cost medical, coverage with concierge service so everyone is covered for everything. The concierge concept is to proactive to ones health, where the old insurance concept is wait for the problem to become worse before we might pay. The concierge service model has brought the cost of more common coverage down a lot, typically 3 to 6 times lower and well under your deductible you'd pay through the traditional model. These are for services you'd have to pay for anyway, since they are preventative. The idea of insurance was to cover an expensive cost. Think of your car, you pay for the old change, brakes and general service. However, the car insurance company pays for most of the damage from an accident. Imagine having to go through your insurance company to change your brakes or oil! The healthcare is lucrative for the insurance and supply companies, in part because your are treated when you already have an acute condition, such as diabetes. So, you get drugs and drugs to maintain drugs and so on. Concierge is intended to provide service, such that you do not get diabetes, etc... In some practices, they have a menu style of the costs of each service. Imagine, competing prices in medical!!! Look around you, I bet you have a Walgreens, CVS, Target and or a WalMart that provides an RN based concierge and they're dirt cheap and just as good, they use the same labs, supplies and test equipment. Or maybe we'd be better off not breaking apart Ma Bell to?...

This is a legitimate survey performed By MDVIP for your physician.

Because of health care reform, physicians are unable to provide the level of service and/or give ample time during visits. A program like MDVIP is NOT a concierge practice. If your Dr decides to utilize the MDVIP model, patients are offered VIP treatment...i.e. same day visits, extended visits, more direct contact, wellness, and preventative maintenance, plus access to physician. All this is for about $150-$200 a month. But your physician still takes and bills your insurance. Program is great....especially for mid-aged and medicare patients. It secures a physician for you...as you know physicians are leaving Medicare.... not taking new patients... and/or opting out of Medicare and Obama care.

I too got this call. Did the survey and then my physician explained everything to me and gave me contact so I could speak directly to MDVIP. If my Dr goes this route....I am paying the extra to keep a great Dr and to get VIP service.....well worth the $4.38 a day.....heck cigarette smokers and/or drinkers spend this much or more every day for bad habits.    Lol.

Do yourself a favor and do the survey.

Survey
I got the same message from my Primary Care Physician asking to take a two minute survey and that an agent from the survey company would be calling back to ask me some questions. If I wanted to take the initiative I could call the company back from 9 AM to 9 PM and give my answers to the survey takers.
Being a smart consumer I googled the telephone number and landed on this website. Upon further examination a company is pushing more and more doctors to go the route of a "Medical Concierge Service" where they will either charge a yearly membership fee to belong to their exclusive practice limiting the PCP's number of patients to less than 900 rather than the typical 2 to 4,000 case load for most PCP's in large Metroploitan areas. It is a convenient way to reduce the PCP's  workload and get rid of patients who can not afford their fees and annual membership fees they will institute. Thus, they are pushing the patients who have Pre-existing conditions, the inability to pay the PCP's professional fees, etc. to Obamacare.  Welcome to the 21st Century everybody where if you do not have the means to afford quality healthcare you end up with Obamacare !!
Finally, it seems like we are living in two countries now where the wealthy if they have the $$ can afford quality healthcare along with the great doctors to go along with it and everyone else fends for their self depending on their financial wherewithal and their health conditions (Pre-Exsisting conditions or not. )
DON'T WE LIVE IN A GREAT COUNTRY AT A GREAT TIME  !!!

This is a survey company that does surveys for individual doctors, at the doctor's request. My doctor's office confirmed that this company would call and ask survey questions regarding my experience with the doctor.

This is indeed another scheme disguised as patient satisfaction, where the physician wants more money than he/she is already making from third party reimbursers.  They want thousands of dollars per year IN ADDITION to what your insurance pays, and they will limit the scope of their practice to only a limited number of diagnoses.  My husband and I are 68 years old and will have to start all over again with a new physician.  Soon the only doctors taking medicare/supplemental insurances will be the ones that are of such poor quality that they cannot be associated with a hospital and have few patients.v3

When I answered, there was a recorded message, which is usually a reliable sign of a scam.
The message said "In a few days, you will receive a call...". After hearing the message to this point, I hung up.

I am at the opposite end of the country to Texas and so if this is a legitimate call from a Texas doctor, why would he/she be calling someone he/she doesn't know, thousands of miles away?

This coimpany is ligit and they do receive the information of the first and last name and phone number only. They ask if you would be willing to take it. Its a simple yes or no. They don't push for you to take it. The person I spoke with was very nice and when I said I was unwilling to pay anything extra they moved on in the survey. They also stated that the doctor is trying to get a feel if their patients would like this or not.

Received a similar call. It was definitely from my primary care physician. He announced himself and specified that it was a pre-recorded message. Alerting that I would be receiving a phone call from the same toll-free number from an agency who would be conducting a personal confidential patient satisfaction survey.

When I called the number back (9 a.m. - 9 p.m. EST), a live person answered, "Thank you for particpating in your doctor's patient satisfaction program." But they didn't announce who they were.

If this is a legitimate patient satisfaction survey, I  too question the legitimacy of my physician providing an outside party with my cell phone number (HIPAA violation?). If it is a paid service under the guise of patient satisfaction, then I'm even more miffed. I'll see this through, but may also look for another doctor before this happens.

I too received a call like this and found out my doc wants to apparently start this type of service too.  I really like my doctor--but am very upset that they gave out my name & phone number to this "survey" outfit!  I carry two different insurances to cover medical, but I guess it's not enough for them.  No way will I pay another fee just for the "privilege" of being one of his patients! (Between the cost of insurance, copays, medications, and now a "club membership" fee on top?)  Looks like I will be looking for another new doctor soon...
