They call continuously. Sometimes several times per day. Leave no message. Call display says "Anonymous."

I received a call fro 1-877-857-1144 AND 1-877-878-3815 (go look that number up - it's the same thing + some creep trying to get information on a young girls...).  I've had them call several times and they are always hang ups (like other people are reporting).  It is NOT the MS society doing this, it's someone else!

This is MS Society starting up their usual annoying and yearly calls.

Received a call from this number today.  i answered but there was no response on the other end.  it is for MS Society, if you call the number back there is an option to remove your number from their list.  I donate to MS Society but have requested my number be removed from the list.  I have a problem with them taking the time to call but not responding when call is answered or leave a message.  Soliciting donations this way may be more harm than good.  Why is the caller display showing "Anonymous" instead of MS Society?

This is a fake, you know why? BECAUSE IF THIS WAS AN OFFICIAL CANADIAN ORGANIZATION, THE MESSAGE WOULD BE RECOREDED IN BOTH FRENCH AND ENGLISH!

Since there is no essence of French in the recorded message its a fake. The Real MS society of Canada records in BOTH official languages, like everyone should.

MS Society Fundraising. I called the number back and there is an option to have your number removed from their list.  By law they have 30 days to remove your number.   Hopefully it works. If not start reporting their calls to the Do not call registry.

I am upset with the MS society...they use numerous 1-877 numbers to keep trying to get you on line.  Now get this....when you redial the number ..there is the option to remove yourself from their calls  BUT IT ONLY APPLIES TO THAT ONE NUMBER.  Numerous calls follow and i have removed myself from at least 4 numbers and they still call...But I will call the head office and have myself removed permanantly.!!
I do not like the way they work!!  By the way ...they also freely gave away our number to other charities...and this is the default !!  You actually have to call them and tell them..to change this !!!!
I will not deal with societies like this !

Gary, could you please provide a reference to substantiate your statement about the American the Canadian Child Diabetes Associations that they are "owned and operated by a pharmaceutical company in Taiwan and all money collected is used for stem cell research so that Taiwan can get patents..."?  I am particularly concerned as my nephew has juvenile diabetes, and we have been supporting charities that raise money for research in those areas.  While I don't approve of and generally hang up on calls from "charities" that telephone, I do want to know more about what you have written.

Calls almost daily and they always mention some charity.  This is an abolute scam.  Don't even bother answering.

Charities and survey firms are exempt from the Do Not Call Registry, but Not For Profit Corporations are a different animal.  Charities are registered with the Canadian Revenue Agency and can issue receipts for tax purposes.  I'm less clear on NFPC's, but I believe corporations are registered provincially, and that designation gives them tax advantages but also imposes business and financial operating constraints.

You suggest donating "directly to your local hospital".  What you likely mean it donate to the local hospital Foundation . which is registered as a charity.  That's fine if that's what you want to support, but I want to support far more than my local hospital.  I'd recommend reading the reports prepared by Charity Intelligence (available on line) and making an informed decision instead of one driven by cynicism and paranoia.

Au contraire, Marc, real charities do call (much to my chagrin and we don't pick-up) and they do come to the door.  Their problem is finding enough volunteers.  In my community, Canadian Cancer Society comes to the door, and I, myself, canvass for the Heart and Stroke Society.

The charity that telephones that we do pick-up is Canadian Blood Services, but they aren't looking for money, just your blood.

Said they were calling for the children's Leukiemia foundation!!!  Said that twice, waited for me to say okay then Said my name again and hung up...I found this disturbing and I am now wondering what kind of scam it was......

Called the 866 number for what was MS Society in Canada. The individual had no idea what I was talking about.

Also got a call from this number at 11:39am.  We are on the Do Not Call List and still getting unsolicited calls!!!!

Contracted telemarketer calling to 'enlist' help in mailing out MS society of Canada (They claim) - don't wait for an answer just start demanding you mail info to friends and family. That number has called my house over 100 times, finally answered it to tell them to leave me alone.
Ask for personal info to send a package....
