So I figured.. what the hell, just give this guy the satisfaction of talking to me for a minute and WHAM, a free voucher. BS!!!! Same ol' same. Mad that I gave in after I hung up on the guy 15 minutes into discussion about off topic nonsense. Gave mailing info and everything... still haven't seen that damn voucher in months!! Cannot wait until that pansy calls me again.

I just received the same call, but they want me to register for a 3.99 monthly magazine.

the called said we won a 250 dollar walmart voucher k by 5pm

total scam. wanted me to have a prepaid card if i didn't have a real mastercard or visa with at least $30.00 to not have to pay for my free voucher.

Just received a call that I won a $250 gift card to WalMart.  Checked here before I called back Carrie callback number given was 8778595199

I RECEIVED THIS CALL THIS MORNING FROM A VERY ENERGETIC AN CONFIDENT LADY NAMED TERRY WITH MOUNTAIN AREA, WHO CALLED ME BY NAME AND SAID SHE HAD GOOD NEWS AND BAD NEWS, GOOD NEWS IS I HAVE WON A $ 250 WALMART VOUCHER BUT THE BAD NEWS IS THEY DIDNT GET AHOLD OF ME THEN GAVE THIS NUMBER OF 8778595199 TO CALL HER BACK AND HER EXTENSION NUMBER 188, YET ON MY CALLER ID  THE NUMBER SHOWED UP AS 42331876376. IN THE VERY BEGINNING OF THE MESSAGE BEFORE SHE STARTS TO SPEAK YOU CAN HEAR A BABY SQUALL.
 I KNEW THIS WAS SUSPICIOUS IMMEDIATELY! HOPE SOMETHING IS DONE ABOUT THIS, I FEEL THAT THE ELDERLY IS PROBABLY BEING THE ONES TAKEN ADVANTAGE OF MOST LIKELY AND IT MAKES ME LIVID i MAY TRY TO REPORT EM AT MY LOCAL BANK AND SEE WHAT COMES OF IT, SOMTHINGS GOT TO BE DONE.

They left me the same message. I hope nobody gets suckered into this scam. Be smart!!! Never give out your credit card info over the phone unless you are speaking to your card carrier!!

They just call me today with all the same "pitch" as stated above. It's a SCAM. Do not even bother to waste your time to call them back.

I just got call from this number and it says that I won 850$ WalMart gift card who are they and they asking me my work place

They say they have good news and bad news, Good news is I have won a $250.00 Wal-Mart gift card and the bad news is that they couldn't get in touch with me. I called and then they asked what my name was and the last four digits of my SS number. After hearing that I hung up and reported them here.

My complaint is the same as the others above,$250 gift card then questions about my credit cards and the #,s on them.It is my belief that this is fruad.

I received the same call. It went to voicemail and it was a man named Anthony saying he had good news and bad news. etc. I "won" a $250 dollar wal-mart voucher.   He left me the 877 859 5199 number to call before five. I called and it was some woman who spoke fast and asked a lot of questions. She knew my name and address, asked my age, asked where I worked, etc. She said they were publisher or something and was talking about magazines and such. Eventually she asked for my debit card numbers only on the front to verify. I spoke all but the last two numbers before my mom overheard and said hang up its a scam!
Guess it is good that there isn't any money on it and I am currently not working, but I will definitely switch to direct deposit once I go back to work.

Had a missed call  on my cell from a 423-586-1663 number that said her name was Brittany from Mountain something and that she had some good news and bad news and that the good news was that I had won a $250 shopping voucher to walmart and that the bad news was that she was unable to talk to me but congratulated me and told me to call her back at 877-859-5199. I call the 877 number from my home phone and the person who answered it didn't say a thing and then hung up.. I tried again.. I then called the number that they had originally called from and asked why they were calling, took my cell number and said oh, who have won a $250 shopping voucher etc...etc.. that all I had to do was pay $3.95 a week for 6 magazines, I said ok and she said she would put her supervisor on, she then got back on the phone and said that her supervisors were busy and that one would call me back.. I said ok but when I hung up I looked the numbers up online and saw that this was a scam, so when Danille called me back I went along with it for a minute then she started asking for my credit card info and I told her that I didn't give that info over the phone and she said well I can't get anything to you till you do, I then told her that I knew it was a scam and that I saw it all online, she told me to go to the Mountain website and see that walmart is doing this, and I proceeded to tell her that anyone can make a website but it doesn't mean that it is lagite, and I hung up on her.... haven't heard form them since but we will see.

I just got two calls from Mountain Area stating that I had won a $250 Walmart Shopping "Voucher".  Total scam...

girl called me and said it was for a $250 walmart gift card and i had 2 do nothing but go spend it..then she asked my age and occupation and when she asked which of my debit or credit cards gave me the most satisfaction i told her i didnt have any and she told me i didnt qualify for it then..total scam..i think she was gonna try and get my card number...i dont c what my credit or debit card has 2 do with it anyway...if its a free gift card then i dont c the point n givin u my card number....i usually dont even call these places back but i did this time just 2 c what it was about..she left a msg on my cell 1st then i called her back..phone# 1-877-859-5199..

Call about winning $1,000 shopping spree, talked fast, SCAM call for sure.  Cindy with Mountain Air ?   Also when tried to call back from my voice-mail it gave another number of 1-423-318-7637. Wanted to call them and tell them they should NOT call me again. - EVER.

omg! i got the same phone call too! i was really excited at first. i thought "Wow i won a thousand dollars!" but then i started to doubt it. i was still hoping that my doubts were false but after reading this all my excitement went away. this is sad. how can they scam people just like this?
my caller said the exact same thing as the above messages "Hello, I am calling from Mountain Area. My name is Dens Weller. The good news is that you have won a 1,000 dollar online shopping spree. The bad news is that I was not able to get hold of you. Call me back at 18778595199 before 5 pm." i thought it would be true because the day before i was signing up for 1000 dollar gift card so i thought this was it but guess not

I, too, received a call from this place yesterday, October 19, 2011.  It went to voice mail, and when I checked it, it said basically the same thing that other people have reported in previous posts:" Hello, my name is Kendra. I have some good news, and some bad news. The good news is that you have won a 1,000 dollar online shopping spree. The bad news is that I was not able to get hold of you." She had a strong southern accent, spoke clearly,  and to the unwary she probably sounded very nice and personable. I could understand every word, and definitely picked up on the words "Mountain Area."
I am always suspicious of such calls as this, and like many other readers I googled the phone number and got to this site. In my case, Kendra only gave me until 4:30 to call her back. Well, she will be waiting a long time for me to call!!! If she does call me again, I will inform her that I will make a report to the Better Business Bureau.
Good luck to anyone who has received this call. I hope and pray that you research the phone number that the caller wants you to call (877-859-5199) and find out about this scam before they sucker you into it with their manipulative verbiage.

The number is listed to a landline - a personal residence in Tennessee...shame on you Nadine, your gonna get busted when I turn you in... LOL!

I just got a call today from a Amber from Mountain Area.  I did not answer the call let it go to VM.  I checked and it was told that she has some good news/bad news.  Good news I won $1000 shopping spree/Bad news she did not get in touch with me.  Bad news is for them...I did google them.  Glad I followed my gutt on this one.

I got the same call about the 1,00 shopping spree and followed it through listening. They are trying to sell magazines 6 of them for 3.98 a week. I told them I didnt want the magazines. They said it was part of the prize. So I continued to listen. They said they then need my expiration date on a credit or debit card. I told them I would not give that information over the phone. She told me she couldnt give me the prize without it. I told her the prize was not that important then. I also told her If you enter a real sweepstake the prize is absolutely free you do not have to pay for anything. A that point she hung up on me.
