Debt Collector
I have been getting collection calls for 5 different people since before I plugged a phone in. No point in telling them the person they are looking for hasn't had this number for a long time, they will just keep calling, as will the person who eventually buys the debt once they have given up on it.

There really needs to be some kind of (enforced) law that collectors need to use a real number for their caller id, and have a staffed line someone can call to be removed from the list when the debt is clearly not theirs. The collector should also be prohibited from reselling the debt at this point, since the next buyer will just find the same phone number on the skip trace and start the whole process over.

Oh well. I'm ditching the land line and going all Google Voice from here on in. Asterisk FTW.

Got a recording which started out with a name in last-name-first/first-name next order and a statement that if you were not that person to hang up.  They had called a business cell, which in itself may be illegal, so just for that they were hung up on.  DO NOT CONTINUE TO LISTEN TO SUCH A CALL.  There is usually a point in their messages which claims that by listening to the message you are representing that you are the person named.

Debt Collector
I just got a new cell phone and have been receiving calls from this debt agency; there should be better rules on reusing phone numbers so new clients do not get nuisance calls for someone else.  Took me about an hour pressing 2 to get to a live person to ask them to remove my number as I am not person they are calling for debt collection.

I receive a call from this number every couple weeks and it's always the same thing- no one is there when I answer and when I try to call it back, it tells me that number is not available, whatever that means.

Calls and never leaves a message anymore.
However, if this IS MRSI, I paid them off several weeks ago, therefore they should stop calling.

Received a call from 877-863-6752 on Dec 5, 2008 and Dec 17, 2008.  Did not answer.  They called again today, Jan 22, 2009 so I answered.  Recorded message to the effect this was an important business call and the next available person would be with me shortly.  I held on and the line went dead at 55 seconds.

I've been getting this call for about a year now. I either get a call from this number that rings and rings (on the couple of occasions that I've answered, no one was there, the call being cut off after about 5-7 seconds of silence) or a message saying as close to verbatim as I can recall (though I'm sure I'll be getting a new one any day now), "An important message for... (a spelled-out name I can't understand clearly, something like R-O-G-E-L-I-O followed by, presumably, a surname which sounds like Florisson to me). By continuing to listen to this message, you confirm that you are... R-O-G..." at which point I hang up and delete the message. Sometimes the message comes back after I delete it, but not always. One time, I actually got a live voice asking for the same person from the message, from the 877 number (seeming about as unsure about how to pronounce the name as I am). She seemed genuine and never asked me for any information since I made it clear that I wasn't who she was looking for and had never heard of him. I asked her to take my number off of her list and she said that she would. Though I still get the calls, I have not heard from the woman or any other live voice since then. That was sometime in Spring 2008 and regretfully, I did not think to jot down details at the time. When I asked my phone company about it, they simply recommended that I get a new phone or a new number. Anyway, from that one conversation with the lady, I did get the impression that they are a debt collector or collection agency or something along those lines, however I do not believe them to be legitimate. If they were, I would not get silence when I pick up the calls (anywhere from the first to the 5th ring). Even if they did speak to me, like the time I spoke to the lady, I'd be suspicious. I do not recommend giving out SSNs or other personal information on the occasion that they ask you. The calls come in spurts, sometimes coming several times a day and sometimes missing an entire month. The call times are always during typical business hours.

The beautiful part about the call is that it started out with an automated message telling me it was "an important business call." They then put me on hold. I waited for a couple of minutes just so I could give an earful to the person who would finally talk to me, but no such luck. I could wait no longer and hung up.

Important indeed. Thanks to all of you who have reported this apparent scam.

I get a call from this number twice a week as well & I called them back once & they would not tell me who their client was either. They would not tell me what the call was about unless I gave them personal information. I wish I could block the number.

I keep getting calls from this number stating that they are MSRI and trying to collect a debt for their client. They will give you a case number so that you can make the payment but they will never state who their client is. This seems like a scam to me. Plus I dont owe a debt to any company.

I called the number. Of course they had no idea what I was talking about but could use my social security number to try to find out why they were calling. It was no help.
