Just ignore them - they won't take you to court for two reasons (1), they have no claim against you since they sent MORE than you asked with a condition that you send funds via WesternUnion that was in effect, a counter-offer to your CL ad so you don't have to accept and (2) this is an outright SCAM and they threaten court to get folks scared which is absolutly silly.

I called the bank that the check was from, and they told me that Robrt Decker's account had been stolen.  The check are no good.  They recommended i give the check to the police, and thats what i did.

i got the same email and recieved a check, i went to the police and reported them, sorry  this is a scam. many bad people out there, they just trying to get you and your trust , i hope someday  they will pay what ever  their  doing to the innocent people,

I also just received an email from drpotter001@gmail.com.  The message was strange so I googled it...thinking maybe it was a scam.  I am glad I saw this and wanted to say as of Oct. 2008 it's still being used.

well that happen today ,I got a check in the mail last wek and my dumb butt than I won  something .Today my bank has a hold on my acct because the check was a fraud check. I'M SO WORRY RIGHT NOW !! I talk to the bank but the fraud dep was close they will call me in the morning.

I got a check too.  I cut my company name off of it and sent it back.

I just got back from Warehouse Market with a check from FX Solutions LLC that turned out to be fake.... I was selling a cellphone display and latchhook Jesus rug on Facebook's marketplace and had a buyer that sent me two separate checks from FX Solutions LLC... I was leary about it the minute my "buyer" told me that I had to wire the excess funds... wtf?!?  I've never done business like that before.... but now that I know it was a scam I'm going to spam his e-mail address with as much gay porn and bulls**t as I can... it's about all little me can do but hey...   you do what you can eh? ;) :)))  I've also reported them on as many of my IRC servers as I can so someone will eventually figure out where they are hopefully....

Nice call, I did the same thing. Just got my new check for $50,000. Of course the item I was selling was $200.  Got it sent over night.
I bumping it up to 100 G's next go around.   I gave them my work number hoping they would give me a call, hasnt happenned.

You can make an IC3 report if you would like. Or you can mess with them with emails.

  This is some scam out of Nigeria.  There are a few  chuckleheads out there that would send them the money. Dont be one of them.

Got the same check for $5k, price of the item on craigs list was only 200$.They asked that I send the difference.
I asked him to re send the a check from the United State Postal money order for $50,000. Then I would send this chuckle head the difference.

I play the game with them. Things I peddle online (ham radio mostly) almost always gets one of our "Nigerian" customers attention. I sting them along, wasting as much of their time as I can. Figure its a Christian act -- the time they spend on me they could be ripping off someone that actually would fall for it. Then I fast-talk them into sending the "check" priority UPS et. al. just to cost them more money. When they ask for a phone number, I usually give them the local FBI one (hoping they'll spring for an overseas call). Lets all waste their time and drive them silly. I'm surprised people smart enough to use the internet still fall for it. I just got one of the infamous Robert A. Decker, Inc. checks today by express mail. I'm sitting on over a half-million dollars of their paper. Gonna laminate them on a coffee table and call it my "million dollar table". When I tire of a particular one, I tell them I do not have sufficient funds in bank to cover it so have to wait for it to clear. Then, few days later, I email them that for some unknown reason the bank wants their full name, address, etc. -- you never hear from them after that.

I've picked up on something here, seems this guy or group is using the same email handle 'jmfast22, jmfast29, jmfast.... @yahoo.com' - THIS GUY IS GOING DOWN..I've recieved a cheque from this guy all the way out here in the FIJI ISLANDS!!! Now they're even spending money to send this crap way out here where they think we don't know any better... "Well, we'll see about that buddy!!!"

I've just recieved the same note, with a certified cheque this time for $22,000 in response to my ad on classified1000.com, i am selling my vehicle and this random couriered UPS enveloped arrives for me.

The 'EXACT SAME' letter was also inside. Should we be cashing this cheque or not? What does this person get out of it??? Can anyone explain to me? I've already written (via email) confirming i've recieved the cheque.

After reading the posts, it looks like the check will initially clear and then bounce. Unfortunatly, you will be responsible for giving the bank back that money (this includes if you wired over the amount they asked back).

did you figure anything out in regards to this scam?  I just experienced the same thing.

I also just got scammed by this Nelson Brown from facebook trying to sell my car.

I did not get a phone call from this number, but I did receive a "certified check" for a dress I had for sale for $100 on Facebook. The person who contacted me as a potential buyer was Gagriel Carson, apparently from Miami, FL on Facebook (misspelling intended)or Gabriel Carson with the email address: gabby4trade@yahoo.com. He emailed about 3 times asking if I would be reliable in "this transaction." I figured he was afraid I would take the money and not send the dress.

The check was made out from:

The check has Central Pacific Bank from the same town as "certifying" the check.

The instructions said:

"INSTRUCTIONS:

When you receive this check, email me at jmfast29@yahoo.com and tell me that you received the check. Then get the check cashed in your bank and deduct your funds and wire the excess funds back to the following information via Western Union or MoneyGram.

The police also advised going to the bank so that they can handle it. I told Gabriel Carson to stop contacting me in any way about any of this, but he still did. I am going to block this person and already reported him to Facebook.
