This group called me this morning and have allegedly turned over my account to a collection agency- or, I should say my office now received an automated call every day at approximately the same time from an autodial program asking us to call and settle our claim. Tired of the harrassment and threats for a service we never authorized or signed any kind of agreement.

I also received lots and lots of calls from universal Business Publishing. They keep claiming that we authorized a one year listing in the National Business Guide. Although the first call was to call for confirmation that they were cancelling our 4 year contract with them (Which we never had). I am the only one in my office who deals with this and I am the only person who authorizes anything. They keep claiming they will call back with proof I authorized it and the next call is the same argument. I just finished tying into the last caller. God help me I hope that is the last call!!!! GRRRRR

To think we went to war and now we have listen to these scammers with  their attempts to extort money from us.  My next call is to my friends at the RCMP and  help expose them to the laws.

This number is Universal Business Publishers. If you google search them almost every single website that comes up is a scam complaint. They also have several complaints with all the better business bureaus. They record phone calls, and then insert parts of the audio into other conversations, making it sound like you have agreed to a service, in this case, an online web directory, when you really haven't. They then try to bill you for it and collect payment. They always happen to have the recording of the phone call and if you listen to it, it's obviously fake. If you say "Yes" or "yep" once, they just use it over and and over again. A dead giveaway that they are a scam is how irate the callers get when you ask questions. Legit companies do not get irate like this.These people who call are extremely rude.They got us, and the caller was very rude, kept interrupting me, and couldn't even find us on THEIR website. This is 100% scam. We will NOT be paying this bill. Beware!

Received a call from this company inquiring about an outstanding invoice, I however do not have them in my vendors list as I work in A/P for the company I work for, I decided to look at their website looks legit however our business in not located anywhere near the location that was given. This was authorized by an employee that should have checked it out and/or have authorization to agree to such a scam. This is a scam and the company I work for will not pay for any of these fraudulent telephone demands and mail.

Please do not contact the resort for payment on advertising that we do not have with your so called advertising company!!

I have received several phone calls from Universal business publishing over the last couple of months and as soon  as they tell me they received a request to cancel my listing I hang up. This is not the first company that has called me stating the same thing. I did get stuck paying for one of these scams because when they called and asked if I was the person authorized to make decissions regarding our advertisment I answered yes (which I am) the lady who called spoke broken english and talked so fast it would make your head swim anyway they recorded me speaking and of course they said it was for qaulity control however these scammers have honed their skills to such a degree if you are unfortunate enough to be recorded they will take that recording and use it in a way that makes their claim sound legitimate (I tried to resolve it through the BBB but the damage was already done). Our company spends thousands monthly on advertising and I would never agree to advertising with any company that says they will bill me when I terminate their services. The phone # that called me was from New York 917-522-1822. If you should happen to receive a call from this or any other company claiming that they received a request from you to cancel your listing HANG UP! NEVER LET THEM RECORD YOU.

They have called our company looking for payment on an invoice that we know nothing about.   We have received a call from the Oilfield directory saying we authorized a 4 yr ad and we know nothing about this for the people who they are speaking with can't make any decisions like this.

Donna Peters from the cancellation department called from 7806433535 at 11:03 am this morning. I told her I'd have to call her back and asked for the number to reach her at, she said that I could not reach her as she was calling from a computer line. So she asked me when a good time for her to call me back, I told her to,or row same time. I asked her what their website was and she told me it was under maintanence, I asked again and she said universalbusinesspublishing.com. I checked their website at 11:13 am and it is not under maintanence. I checked for our company name in their listing and nothing. I also printed out the website page so I would have a time stamp showing no maintanence but a fully functioning site. They also have a rating of F with the bbb. I will be sending in a copy of my writings from this site to the bbb to report as I was no longer supposed to receive any calls.

Scammer/con artist calls small businesses and get the victim to verify place of business, answer a series of questions likley to get a "yes" response. they record the conversation but somehow tape over or stop recording when you decline the offer or say "no". They send bogus bills and threaten legal action against you if you don't pay the bogus invoice. When you confront them with the facts and report them to FTC and BBB, they whine about harassment and then threaten legal action. here are some the statements made to me in my confontation with them: "Stop harassing my company. This is all being documented and will be used to prosecute you if necessary. Please govern yourself accordingly". "We request that you cease and desist any further contact with our company or any parent company, otherwise we will pursue you to the fullest extent. Please govern yourself accordingly".  What a bunch of retards.

Tell them FOAD and never let them record a conversation or get you to verify place of business.

Said they were from Universal Business Publishing wanting to confirm that I wanted to cancel our 4 year contract with them. Apparently our Canadian Business listing was authorized in 2009. I told the lady I would not be paying any fees for canceling as well as I had no idea who they are. I wish these kind of calls would stop already.

Received another call from Universal Business Publishing again wanting to confirm cancellation on our 4 year listing at 11.54 am. The first call I received was at 10:10 am this morning. I explained to the lady I had already spoke to someone earlier this morning and I actually tried to locate our listing 3 times today and we are not listed on their site at all she told me she was looking at our listing and said our company name which was wrong. I typed in the name she gave and still nothing came up. She said they were having troubles with their site which seems weird to me that she could still see our listing yet I could not. I then said I had no documentation nor would I sign up for anything for a 4 year term. I also stated again that we would not be paying anything. The lady then said she would cancel our "account" and this would be the last call we received. This is absolutely ridiculous.

Guess what? Steve Kelly just called at 2:10pm from Universal Business Publishing about our account and online listing in the Canadian Business Directory. He said I would receive my invoice in 2 - 3 weeks at which point I told him I had been called TWICE yesterday and was assured I wouldn't receive any further calls. Also, pointed out to him that our company isn't even listed on their site plus whomever I spoke to yesterday gave me the wrong company name which he almost got right today and I wouldn't be paying anything as I had no documentation and would have never signed up for a 4 year term with anyone. All he could say to me was Who did you talk to? and I'll have to check into what's going on finally ending with thank you thank you thank you because I was getting upset so I think he wanted off. These guys are a phone call away from a report to the BBB and whoever else I can complain to.

Funny that they phone from 780-669-8800? I was told that this is an internet phone number. Called it back and it says sorry this number is not in service, called the 877 number and got the machine.

They called my office.  This scam has been running by various companies for a long time.  I think they put my number on a list and sell it to other scammers. The best thing to do is ignore their calls.  They eventually just give up.

This number is for Universal Business Publishing, managed by Kelly Parker. They called my tanning salons main line and confused one of my, young, staff to authorize something that cost over $750. Now they call, harrassing me to pay this bill. For what they sold an unauthorized under 21 year old. I still can't figure out what they think they sold me... I try to tell them no one at my salon is authorized to purchase anything, I am the owner. They demand that the girl behind the counter made a verbal agreement with their company. I have reported them to the BBB. Tell all your staff, never give your name to anyone calling.
