they call me from a 423-758-6168 number and when they leave a voice mail they leave 877-870-7255.  they have called mine and my husband's phone. I will be putting the 423 number on my block list.  I pay mine and my husband's medical bills once a month and when they call him they say he owes more than what is really owed.  We have not even received any type of written notice from this company about a debt.
Really?

Just got a call from Transworld.  They sometimes call with only "out of area", of course I'm not going to answer.  Then right after that they call with a number showing and the first three numbers are my area code.  So at first you may think its okay to answer, BUT DON'T!  When they leave a message they identify themselves as a debt collector and to call the toll free number BUT DON'T.  In the message they don't say who they want so this sounds fishy and they do leave a reference number and a name of a person to contact.  Once I look up the numbers, I go back into my house phone and change the name to "SCAM", then if they call again I don't even have to get up, my phone announces the caller as "SCAM. If they switch numbers...that's ok I will look up the new number and list it as "SCAM".  I use to list the numbers on my phone as "FUK U" (for it to sound right) instead of "SCAM" but my Dad didn't like hearing that.  It did make us laugh though!

I'm glad I found this site. I received a call from a different # and they gave me this # to call back, but I couldn't find a listing for it using a reverse phone lookup search. I was worried this might be an identity theft scam, but now after looking at the posts here I see they are who they say they are. I was the victim of identity theft a few years ago and my bank account went from $5K to -$2K overnight. I've been trying to did out slowly ever since.
I must say this guy did seem a bit pushy, but that's what collection people do- they need to get that commitment while they have you on the phone because they know in most cases it will be difficult if not impossible to speak with you a second time, as evidenced by the posts listed here.  I for one will be calling them back to make arrangements to pay my debt. I owe, and I need to pay it. So long as they will work with me and let me make payments, which they sounded willing to do.
Bottom line is- if you owe it, pay it. Don't get mad at the people trying to collect the debt. If you can't pay it, try to get them to work out a payment plan. It's better to make a little sacrifice now then end up with a judgment against you for a lot more later. I used to work for an attorney who did some collections, and believe me, you don't want to get a judgment against you- they can pull the money from your bank account, garnish your wages, etc. so yes, they CAN hurt you- and will eventually if you don't grow up and own up to your own debts. Of course, you could always file for bankruptcy if you're that bad off.
And for those who are getting calls about someone else- thank that person for the nuisance, not the bill collector. The person they are trying to find is the one that gave them your number. Do you think they just pulled it out of thin air?

I had Portfolio Recovery calling me for two years, hundreds of calls, looking for several different names unknown to me.  They would not take no for an answer until about eleven months ago when I began legal proceedings against them.  In the past week this new company has begun calling, looking for a new name.  My number is a business, and I don't know if the people trying to avoid bills randomly give out business numbers or what, but I cannot understand why so many bill collectors have my number for so many different people, as this is a number that I have owned for eighteen years.  I immediately sent a call trace to my phone provider, then returned their call and recorded myself telling them under no circumstances to call again or I would commence legal proceedings.  They agreed to remove my number from their system;  I'm sure that if they do, they will just send the number to another collector.  I am really tired of this disruption to my business, and the first collector that continues to call after being warned will be prosecuted.  Bring it on.

They have proof that my bill has been paid and are still trying to collect. Yes, John Donovan is the guy who called. Might have to call some of my "special friends" that live that area...not good for them. Hee hee hee!

I owed my doctor money. March 16, 2011 he offered me, through his COO Tami, an extremely generous and low settlement amount, which I paid to him immediately that day. I informed Brandon King of this immediately, and repeatedly, because Brandon's calls did not stop.  Brandon said to me he had no record of any settlement.
And Brandon kept calling. And calling.
Frustrated, I called my doctor's office, and spoke to Tami directly, asking her to be certain to call or fax Brandon, to tell him the account was settled, as he said he had not been made aware of any settlement. Tami said she knew Brandon King, and that he works for their practice collecting debts. She told me Brandon would not do anything to me that the practice did not authorize, and Tami assured me the debt was *settled*. Tami also promised me she would immediately fax Brandon the information that would tell him my account had been fully settled. She promised me that a month ago.
I also personally gave Brandon the specifics of the settlement, though I told him I realized he couldn't take my word for it. I did also tell him if for whatever reason my doctor's office did not follow through and call him, that he can call them, and I gave him my doctor's (office) phone number and the name of the COO (Tami) that handles the billing. That too was a month ago.
So *why* am I still getting calls from Brandon King still today (June 8th)? 5 calls in a row, every other day to my cell phone. Even if Tami didn't keep her promise, and never followed through, it would be in Brandon's best interest to give *her* a call, just to determine the facts. Brandon earns his living on a commission basis. There is no commission paid on a debt that is uncollectable because it has already been settled.  Brandon, if you read this- and I think there is a good chance you might-  just check things out by calling Tami at P.S. yourself. Honestly, one phone call to your client P.S. *has* to be better than dozens of unnecessary-- and unfruitful-- calls to me. My debt to P.S. was settled March 16, 2011.

Got tons of calls from these f**kers in the past couple weeks. I don't owe s**t.
I Google the number and found a bunch of websites like this. So last time they called me (a few minutes ago) I cussed that little b***h boy out for a while then told him he's not going to call my f**king phone again. Let's see if it works hehe ;) if not..... I just have to remind myself not to make threats cuz they have that sh*t recorded.
Lesson to all: CUSS THEM THE FU*K OUT BUT DON'T THREATEN THEM.
And call back till you get a guy, cussing at girls isn't cool.
Ima throw a creepy pedophile spin on my next call if they call me again

I received a call from 877-870-7255 to see what they wanted.  They said I owed $100 and some to a hospital I had visited.  I said I would pay the debt in three payments.  They said OK and began to set up payment terms.
At the time of the first call I was in a dentist's office and I told Miles (the name of the representative who called me) that I was in the dentist's office and that I would have to get off the phone when they called me in.

Before that I explained to Miles that I did not have a method to pay them other then the way I pay all my bills with a money order.  He said that was unacceptible that I had to get a credit or debet card a bank account or go get a prepaid card at Walgreens. I told him that I do not give out information to company's where I have to give all my information to such as a prepaid credit card.  I was then called into the dentist's office and told Miles that I had to go into be seen and that I would call him back.  He did not get off the phone he began to harrass me saying that if I did not continue to spead with him and make payment arrangement his company would come after me and it would not be a pretty picture for me.  I said ok but I will have to call you back and talk to you then, he still did not understand and continued to threaten me to the point that I had to hang up on him.

After I was through with my dentist appointment I called 877-870-7255 again to make payment arrangements.  I had the same discussion with a women by the name of Betty who also refused my method of payment.  I told her that I would send a money order in three increments.  She refused to take that form of payment.  I told her that I was still going to send the money orders and save the returned money orders to show the court that my payments were refused.  She then became irate and said that I was refusing to work with them and continued to escalate her voice to the point that we were both talking to each other at the same time.  Then then said because I refused to pay them that I was going to have to go to court and very rudely told me that she was hanging up and did so.

I then called the main office to get their mailing address and the receptionist refused to give me their main mailing address.  She asked why I was requesting the mailing address and I said it was to send in my payment.  I told her to give me the address so that I could send my payment in.  She again asked me which department and to whom I was sending the payment in to.  I said accounts receivable.  Then she demanded my name I told her that I just wanted the mailing address to send in my payment.  She then got very irrate and escalated her voice and said she was not going to give me any information and hung up.

FYI to all!  I called the # back and spoke with a gentleman who was willing to explain who they were and what the call pertained to.  This person was very courteous and understanding.  I advised I needed to see the original bill so I can review.  He was absolutely fine with this and said I should receive something in the mail soon.  Just make sure you get names and other details if possible.  Not all collection employees are obnoxious.  if they are trained properly, they should say or do none of what people state above.  they are doing their job... If someone calls and is nasty or demeaning, call the BBB.

These guys are real jerks.  I have asked nicely for them to send me something in the mail regarding this debt.  I don't argue I owe money, but I want paperwork.  They have refused to do so no less then 5 times now.  I refuse to just give my cc info over the phone to such a shady company.  During my last call with them, I was treated so horribly I didn't know to cry or scream.  The guy on the phone yelled at me and called me a liar and berated me and talked down to me even after I explained my situation(which was bad).  I genuinely want to pay this, but with how these guys treat me, I think I'm going to call my original debt and try to pay directly.

I've been bombarded by calls from these a**holes for two weeks now.  I have NO IDEA how they got my cell number.  I contacted all of my accounts and checked my credit report - I AM CURRENT ON ALL OF MY BILLS.  I will not return their calls.  If I actually owed money, they would send something to me in the mail.
