Got a text message saying "You need to verify your Capital One account (unusual activity)". Did not call them back yet. Wanted to research the number first.

i got it n responded 12 20 08. no luck . they texed my nextel. company lol. i figured it was bogas . i called capital one . i have my truck through them.its not their number. they never text only call.

I have Sprint and got the Cap 1 message. it is a scam. I did not call either. Cap 1 says not them.

Wanted to add that Caller ID was 1 (010) 100-092

I received this same message. AT&T network; Baton Rouge. I do not have a Capital One account. It's obviously a scam.

Received the same text message.  Contacted Capital One and they confirm that it is a fraudulent text message.  I called the number and received a recording that stated that I would have to provide my entire card number for assistance.  That stopped me in my tracks.  Do not provide any information!

I got the same message. Don't give them any information. It must be a scam. Banks don't contact you through text messaging. How did these scammers get people's cell phone numbers?

Rec'd same message me and my wife. Also new it was a scam because we don't even have any accounts with Cap. 1

Got same message today and computer asked for card number and pin number.  Then said "Thank you for verifying information"  That was all.  I called Capital One from the number on the back of card.  They confirmed many reports of this fraud today.

I got the same message today too.  I have received it before and ignored it when my account was alright.  I think it is a scam.

I got the same txt supposedly from Cap1. Itried to call back and mess with them but got nothing but a busy signal. Too bad, I was feeling creative.

Got the same message 10:48. Don't even deal with Cap One. Sounds like a scam.

Just recieved this number about Capital One today from Baton Rouge. Maybe some day I might even  get a capital one account.

Same here received today at 10:21am.  i work for Chase, but I know C1 would never send a text message to report anything.  I am tempted to call back with and give them all kinds of incorrect information and say "ONG I have a HUGE credit limit on that account I hope it's okay."  LOL  But, I don't have the time or energy today.  Would be funny though...

We got it too.  Cap One said it is not them and that they have been getting calls all morning, and that they are already investigating the issue.  They said never respond to a text message they will always contact you in person.

It is not legit. TOTAL SCAM!

I recieved the same msg and called to only a busy signal, i smell scam all over this.

received same message, called C1, emailed abuse@C1.com and called Attorneys General office.

My wife received the same call stating activity on the credit card, but she called the number with no answer, didn't ring just went stright to busy signal, called Capital one and was'nt them them, called AT&T to notifiy them in case some chargers go to our number. Anyone else called, and if so what happens

Same Capital One scam.  I don't have C1 either... Looks like Baton Rouge is a recent target on this one.

Also in Baton Rouge, with Alltel.  I wonder if B.R. is being targeted today?

Received this text and I don't have a Capitol One card. So I'm thinking scam as well.

I just got that same text. i checked my account first but didnt see any unusual activity. i'm not calling the number either!

I do not have a Capital One account, so this is extremely suspicious.

Capital one (unusual activity) I called capital one and they said this is not there number to delete it and never respond to a text message they will always contact you in person and provide you with your information not the other way around.

WE called Capital One via the number on the back of the card.  This message is not from Capital One.  Do not give your personal info to this number.  I, also, checked online to see if any charges had posted to this credit card account.  None had.

Got same text message. I'm saying its a scam on this one. Got it a little over an hour ago.
