I have been making payments to them but need to put the last payment on hold for a few weeks. I have found all this info and think I have been scammed. I have called every number everyone has posted and they are all disconnected...Good thing is they have my debit card number and not checking account number. Looks like I am just going ot have to cancel the card all together. Kind of funny how a matter is so important but you can not find a contact number for them on the WORLD WIDE WEB!!

Same thing has been happening to me for the past few weeks.  And I believe you are right - the statute of limitations is running out and they have to start calling people and use these threatening and harrassing tactics.  The number they have been calling me from 888-383-9034, x313.  Received a call earlier this morning and it was from a James Governor - these people continue to call my place of employment and are very rude.

I received a voice mail message today that Pamela Clark was calling on my behalf regarding fraudulent activity that has been used against me.  She left a phone # of 888-822-3071 and what she called a R.O.F. number.  Naturally I called back, concerned it was related to my bank account or somehow my information was in the wrong hands somewhere.  I called back, they would not answer any questions as to who they were, I asked what it's regarding and they wouldn't tell me, only transfer me to someone else.  I then spoke to Steven Roger's at extension 331 (I had to drag that out of him) and he was telling me all of the same things everyone else is stating here.

He wanted to know when is my next pay day, where I bank, stated I owed $850 on a payday loan and was very hesitant to provide any information.  Only scare tactics.  He wanted me to settle with them today for $400 and provide a credit card number.  When I said I want something in writing that breaks down what this $850 is for, he refused.  Stated they aren't required to provide that information and that I should know what the breakdown is.  I told him I'm not giving him any of my bank or work information until I see something in writing.  He tried several scare tactics, same as everyone else, federal crime, attorney's serving me papers.  It was hard but I did get the company name (I guess).  All he said was Prudential, and I asked him "so you're with Prudential, the insurance company?"  He said no, of course not, they're called Prudential Group.  He tried additional tactics, I told him that because of the sneakiness of this entire event, I'm not going to provide him any of my information.  More scare tactics, then before hanging up he just said good luck to me, as if something horrific is about to happen to me.

i have gotten a call from this prudential company a man named james governor was i spoke with. they told me the same thing about serving me with court papers at my job if i didn't resolve the matter that day. told me they were a litigation company. that the man who owned that company bought my account that had been turned over to collections and that is why they are persuing me. so everyone is saying that they are scammers, so does this mean that if they collect the money from you that it really doesn't go to paying off the actual debt thats owed? and has anyone actually set up payments with them only to have them take out more than what was arranged during the phone call? very interested in this info and also concerned. please reply asap. thanks.

Great advice posted by an attorney on:
http://800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-718-732-0174

"IF they do not provide you with the verification of the debt, the debt is invalid and not subject to collection.  PAY NOTHING TO ANYBODY UNLESS THEY PROVIDE YOU WITH WRITTEN VERIFICATION OF THE DEBT, AND ONLY THEN IF YOU FEEL THE DEBT IS VALID - otherwise, let them sue you for the debt, as a real law firm will only bring a legal action on a truly valid debt".

Same company called my sister once yesterday and twice today threatening for me to contact them by 5:00 PM today they would file with the court and a warrant issued. The number they called from 888-820-8248. After reading everyone's post I assume it's from a payday loan that I got many years ago that I did not pay. I believe it's approaching the statue of limitations? I got the payday loan in a state where I was living at the time, but no longer live there. I don't want to contact them for fear of opening up another 7 years of harassment. Thoughts?

I am going through the same harrassment and they have been doing exactly what everyone has mentioned above. They said I will be served at work, they left messages with my family members saying I'm righting bad checks, and also calling my job too. Also this is suppose to be a loan I've taken out in 2008 which I thought I payed back. However, they are very unprofessional and I actually just spoke with someone that seemed legit and I gave him a old card number of mine to set up payments because I just didn't trust this. So I came to google the company and found you guys! This really helped me and I am reporting their SCAMMING A$$!!!!!! I just thank GOD that I looked this up before preceeding with any payments. GOD Bless you all.....

just got a call from an unknown caller they left the call back number 888-822-5227.  "Barbara" stated that she was going to file my case in my county court house if i did not resolve the matter.  She even stated she would call my HR dept to see how to serve me paper.  However, she only had an address i lived at two years ago.  I called the number and got a recording for Prudential.  This type of harassment is insane and I cannot believe people get away with using these scare tactics on people; its awful.

i have also been harrassed by this company having them call family members i havent spoken to in years saying that i have a warrent out for my arrest for fraudulent checks which is SLANDER! I have never written a bad check in my life and now they are ruining my repuataion and i want retribution! How can I turn them in and have charges pressed against them for breaking the collection laws and slandering my good name. This has to stop! My carrer is in handling money and in small towns like i live in this could keep me from ever getting a job around here if the FAKE story ever got out. there must be something I can do.....

On April 3, 2012 my sister recieved a call from 888-822-1263 someone identifying themself as a Tonya Strickland from Prudential legal department regarding "fraudulent" check charges. My sister says they used a very stern voice and said that they are going to file legal charges against me. When I called the number back they verified all of my personal information including my direct work number but, they never called me nor did they send anything to my house. They stated that I owe a debt from a payday loan company. The problem is that I filed bankruptcy years ago and that debt was included. When I called them on it, and threatened legal action against them because it is a federal offensive to attempt to collect a debt afterwards. They admitted that this note was in my file. I've since contacted my attorney and turned over this information. They would not verify there address or location. I don't trust these kinds of pop-up fly-by night agencies who have access to all of your personal information. This agency can face legal charges and/or fine.

I recieved a phone call from an unknown number stating for me to call 1-877-803-3775 and told me that I was notified of my court date.  They gave me a court case and everything but a date.  So I called that number and it was Prudential stating that I have a payday loan from like 4 years ago, that I swear I paid back.  They said that I have to pay so much every few weeks on my credit or debit card or I will have to go to court for Criminal charges.  They had all my information and everything.  I asked them for the date, but all they did was give me a court case number.  Don't quite know what to do now because they told me that local authorities have been notified.

Mary please calm down these fools are scam artist and they know your scared so they will continue to call you for money..
ist...GO TO ASK.COM,,TYPE WHAT STATES ARE ILLEGAL FOR PDL...YOU WILL GET 15-20 STATES AND IF YOU HAPPEN TO LIVE IN ONE OF THOSE STATES YOU JUST SAVED YOURSELF ALOT OF MONEY....
if these fools are not licensed to loan you money in your state then they will not take you to court because the judge will dismiss your case and fine them thousands of dollars for illegally loaning you money
if you do happen to live in one of the states where its legal ..then what can they do.you have no money..
relax dear...you could also ask for FULL VALIDATION..PER FDCPA ACT..15USC. 1692g.SEC.809(b)
when you opened the account
all payments you made..you have the right to make sure all your payments was credited towards the account.
how the interest was accrued so you can do the math because when these fools does the math they always make mistakes in there favor.
signature on the contract.
THE LAW SAYS IF THEY CANT VALIDATE IN FULL,,THEN THE DEBT IS INVALID THE LAW IS ON YOUR SIDE 100%.
don't let them know your upset this way they will stop using scare tactics on you like being arrested..you do not get arrested for a civil matter

THANK YOU, BUT I AM STILL SCARED I DONT WANT ANY LEGAL ACTION TAKEN AGAINST ME.  HAS ANYONE ELSE HAD PROBLEMS WITH THESE PEOPLE? I AM JUST SO SCARED. HE WAS SO NASTY. TELLING ME I WOULD HAVE TO SERVE JAIL TIME AND THAT MONEY WAS DEPOSITED IN MY CHECKING ACCOUNT WHICH IS NOW CLOSED SO THEY NEEDED AN ACTIVE CHECKING ACCOUNT OR CREDIT CARD TO TAKE PAYMENTS OR I WOULD HAVE SOMEONE SERVING ME PAPERS TO GO TO COURT. HE SAID HE WAS SENDING ME A LETTER IN THE MAIL BUT HE DID NOT KNOW MY CURRENT ADDRESS.

Your caller did not follow debt collection protocol and should be treated like a scammer IMO. Legit collectors per section 809 of the FDCPA http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/consumer/credit/cre27.pdf *must* tell you at initial contact, or send you paperwork within 5 days of initial contact, the following:
1. $amount of debt,
2. name of the current creditor (which may differ from the original creditor who might have sold your debt),
3. a statement that that debt will be assumed to be valid unless you dispute in writing within 30 days,
4. a statement that that if you do dispute in writing within 30 days, the collector must mail you written verification of the debt,
5. a statement that if you ask the collector in writing within 30 days, the collector must send you the name and address of the original creditor if it's different from the current creditor.
If you don't get the 5 disclosures, orally or in writing (you do not have to ask for them, the FDCPA requires collectors to provide them), treat the collector like you would any SCAMMER.
Has the statute of limitations for your state http://www.fair-debt-collection.com/SOL-by-State.html expired on your debt? If expired, don't pay.
Collectors generally have to be licensed by your state to practise (collect debt) in your state and you can find out by calling your state Attorney Generals Office. Ask if a license is required and does this collector have one. If not licensed, don't pay and file a complaint.
Read useful debt-collection FAQs from the FTC here http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/consumer/credit/cre18.shtm
Be aware that scammers are using bought/hacked/phished loan application data to extort payments for fictitious debts from victims and victims' families and friends.
The FBI warns about payday loan extortion scams here http://www.fbi.gov/news/pressrel/press-releases/paydayloanscam_120710
The BBB has issued several alerts on this scam, just google "bbb.org alert phony debt collector"
Report to the Internet Crime Complaint Center http://www.ic3.gov/complaint/default.aspx , the Federal Communications Commission http://esupport.fcc.gov/complaints.htm , the Federal Trade Commission https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/ and your state AG, as appropriate.
