Omaha woman nabbed in Iowa car sting gets prison

OMAHA, Neb. - A 34-year-old Omaha woman who was snared in a stolen-car sting operation has been given 18 months in federal prison for conspiracy.

A news release from the office of U.S. Attorney Joe Stecher says Misty Mendicino also was given three years of supervised release after she serves her term.

Several agencies set up a sting operation at "Chicago Imports" in Council Bluffs, Iowa. The business was a front to nab car thieves who would sell high-priced vehicles at low prices.

Prosecutors say that in September 2007, Mendicino arranged to have her 2004 Mercedes, valued at $17,000, taken to Chicago Imports and sold for about $2,400.



She then reported it stolen and filed a false insurance claim. Her company sensed the fraud and did not pay

Same here.  Got a call about a truck I am selling and were trying to peddle their listing services.  They had to pull the number from Craigslist since that is the only place I've posted it with my cell number.
