"This is an automated message from Monroe County Community C.U. Security Department, regarding your account security. Please call urgently at 877-897-1953."
Received 10/13/09 6:24PM EDT
MCCCU reports this is a scam on their website.

Received text: This is an automated message from Monroe County Community C.U. Security Department, regarding your account security. Please call urgently at 877-897-1953
I happen to live in Monroe County but I am not even sure if there is a credit union by that name. I just deleted the text.
What bank would ever send a text message to a customer? Ridiculous.

Just got the text: This is an automated message from Monroe County Community C.I. Security Department, regarding your account security. Please call urgently at 877-897-1953
Called the number and it asked for your card number. Absolutely a scam.
Someguy 2009-10-13 22:40:57 Unknown
I also received a similar scam text. The number is now reporting itself as disconnected. Don't forget to lodge an FTC complaint at https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/ as law enforcement does keep an eye on issues registered there.

Slate 2009-10-13 21:00:58 Unknown
just got one that said from KCT Credit Union - same gist as everyone else call this number urgently regarding issue with my account security.
SoCalGuy 2009-10-13 16:38:05 Unknown
Definantly a scam, I just got a text not long ago telling me there is an issue with my account at Arrowhead C.U., which I don't have an account with and it was odd the number was "1234"...
Markle 2009-10-13 16:22:13 Unknown
This is definitely a phishing scam phone number. If it's been running for over 16 hours, I'm incredulous that nobody's been able to shut it down. I got one 40 minutes ago to call regarding my account with Arrowhead C.U. in SoCal ... I don't even have an account with them. I reported it to them and they're calling their fraud department, but people are moving very slowly on getting this number pulled.

I got the same message, Washington Postal Employees. I called the credit union and they said it was fraudlent and to call the police. Call the police, they told me to change my number and call the number from another phone and see what the company was. I did just that and it is to a card activation company. Sad nothing anyone can do.
bdimag 2009-10-13 13:58:13 Unknown
I just called and it wanted me to activate my card... enter your card #; enter your expiration; enter your PIN... i had none of these and it goes back to start.
bdimag 2009-10-13 13:53:19 Unknown
just got this too; never heard of em... kinda wanna call and f*** w/ em

Also, my girlfriend just got one as well, the same message... Please be aware that these are scams... People you should not call the number as some numbers charge you upwards to $2,000 a minute on the line. Just an FYI!!!

I just got a text saying that there was a problem with my card from a bank that I don't even use
RP 2009-10-12 23:18:50 Unknown
Received a text at 6:01 PM 10.12.09 stating a security problem with card at Coffee County Bank and to call 877.897.7953 Hmm, we are nowhere near Coffee County and no issues with our cards. In addition our banks do not have our cell number anyway so no one would know to text us - SO this is likely a scam!
Josh 2009-10-12 20:00:14 Unknown
they sent a text saying there was a problem with .y card and they wanted me to call 1-877-897-1953.
