I got a call at my work telling me I needed to "renew" the businesses' Yellow Pages ad or it would immediately be canceled.  I was told that we currently had an ad, I asked who they were, they said they were The Yellow Pages.  I informed the telemarketer that I was unable to make billing decisions, she said that was fine, they were only calling to verify the information was correct, and would fax me a form to proof and give to my boss to approve.  I was then asked a series of questions, ending in something along the lines of "are you authorized to make billing decisions" and "do you agree to this?"  I repeated that no, I was not, and the telemarketer said she couldn't send out the proof unless I said yes.  I repeated that I as not comfortable doing so, she put me through to her "supervisor" who assured me that there would be no charges, and by agreeing to the questions I was simply allowing them to send me information which I could refuse at any time.  I said "ok" to this, and received a fax, which I ran by my bosses, who of course denied it, saying they get those kinds of calls all the time.  I wrote "DENIED" across the fake invoice and sent it back.  Today I received a phone call saying I was "past due" and had verbally agreed to a contract.  I asked to speak to a supervisor, he said he didn't have one, and that whatever the sales department said was out of his control.  I asked to speak to the sales department, and he said they did not have an inbound number.  Basically, it was, according to this "account executive", impossible for me to speak with anyone else.  I informed him I felt that the business was shady and I asked what I should do to take it to the next level.  He offered to blay back teh recording of my "verbal agreement", which I am positive does not include any of the bits where I say I am not authorized and they say I am not agreeing to any billing, and said if I wanted to get a lawyer that was up to me, and he'd call me in a few weeks when I'd calmed down.  I am outraged!  Has anyone had luck with just ignoring these people?  Do I really need an attorney?

They have now changed the number to 877-807-7514.  The same story for the above is the same for us.  We are being told we are being sued.  Yet for a settlement over the phone this will be dropped.  I am glad i checked this and found this website.

My daughter works for a vet.  She took a call more than a year ago to "update" her vet's information for "continuing" the phone book ad.  She gave her name.  She has a vague recollection of that call.  Now they are calling her trying to get the money from her - the employee!  Then she panicked that she harmed her boss.  Her dad is a lawyer, and he directed our daughter to tell "Pete" to call her lawyer.  "Pete" called my husband, and he was brilliant.

"Pete" represented himself as an agent for a collection agency when he first called our daughter, although he was calling from Thompson Hill Publishing, and later, he confirmed that he was employed through Thompson Hill Publishing.  He threatened my daughter with a suit in NY and scared her.  He threatened my husband with a suit, and my husband laughed, telling him to bring it on.

I looked up "Thompson Hill Publishing" and found information about the scam before I found information about the company.  I printed up some of these websites, and took them to her.  When she told her boss what was happening, she gave him the scam information.  He told her not to worry; apparently he had been trying to cancel from their first bill, and they have never responded.  It is now in attorney hands.

Have you heard anymore... just found out someone in my office being taken to court for an ad he never renewed in 2006 they say that the fact that he didn't return some postcard that stated "contract will be renewed if not returned" they have billed him 6,000.00 (this communication typically looks like junk mail and it's normal for people to throw these out... )Isn't there any law that states a company must get written signatures to renew a contract?

The motto of this scam company? "PAYING FOR YOUR LISTING HAS NEVER BEEN EASIER"  I kid you not.  Their own web site is stripped of any content that can be used to track this company.  In other words, it doesn't even list itself! The "About Us" page speaks only in generic terms of the history of yellow pages.  A search for my own company under categories of business, turned up nothing unless I got the exact category and city...and still MY company didn't come up (which is good, but not something I'll pay them for).

I called their collection department toll-free (1-877-807-7514 ext 451) from my home number and asked for their lawyer with an incredibly generic name.  The receptionist at my office gave me a case number with about 25-30 digits.  They told her that a "bailiff" will serve a complaint on my company.  A bailiff?  Not in my state...which shows how unlikely it is that they will actually show up in court.

I would actually LOVE for them to show up in court so I can sue them.  Since calling the 800 number this morning, I have received 20 phone calls from this number.

I run a business that I absolutely do NOT want listed in any Yellow Pages under any category.  I cannot wait for them to sue me.  I will download the names of every business listed on their site (probably victims), put up a billboard downtown before the court date and have the Chamber of Commerce send out a mailing letting other businesses know that this company is in town.

Currently being harassed from this number by a business now calling themselves the "National Collection Agency" which according to other entries in this post is the same number for "The Official Yellow Pages".  "The Official Yellow Pages" which I had previously dealt with Got a recording of my voice by telling me that the owner already had an account with them and that I would only be renewing it.  I later discovered that was a lie and refused to pay on that basis.  Plus I have never seen any listing by them.

Now this collection agency which I am assuming is bogus is called and threatened to take legal action unless over $500 was payed within 3 hours, I did not do it.  The man calling claimed to be "Bob Grey", and gave me a different number to call back at "1-877-807-7514 extension 453". This morning they called and said that they were sending the account to their lawyer.  I guess we'll see what happens next.

Moral of the story, never ever talk to this company.

I'm in the same boat as others reported, with the "Official Yellow Pages". Though I sent them a written notice that I didn't want their service/product after receiving an invoice for $400 in March the collection calls stated about 2 months ago, starting with the "accounts receiveable" then on to the "credit bureau for the Offical Yellow Pages"' all matching the phone number listed. The last call was with the threat of going to small claims court and playing the recording before the judge. They at no time wanted to discuss or even acknowledge my correspondence with the "company". I recently checked and I'm not listed on their so called Yellow page listing and no proof of ever being on their list for their so called free listing. Yelow pages.com, which is free has our business listing and more than I expected. Avoid the "Official Yellow Pages" as it does appear to be a scam.

Calls and says they are the "Official Yellow Pages" and we have an open invoice. They also call from the same number and state they are a collection agency. They say that the conversation was recorded, which is against the law to record without permission. I have reported them to the BBB and if you check their (BBB) web site you will see over 100 complaints in the last 2 months.

We get calls every few months from the "Official Yellow Pages" stating that we have not paid our bill. This number is now their collection agency. Google yellow pages scams and Champlain N.Y. and you will learn that it is a hub for phone and internet scams. You can actually see the warehouse that they are calling from using Google Maps. For the record, the real yellow pages is always free! These guys are trying to stick this public school for $400 bucks despite letters and faxes to them to cease calling. They claim they posted our info on thier site. We can't find it. Remeber the real yellow pages is FREE.
