Larry Davis (maybe Davidson?) wanted to talk me about lighting supplies, etc. Smooth talker and almost connived me into buying some light bulbs without my consent. Said he was going to send me a free leatherman tool. Who knows if that will happen... When Larry transfered me to someone "in the warehouse" he asked for a purchase order # and I caught on what was happening. When I backed out, he was curt and said that he'd send a price list. I'm not interested.

So, your post is from 2010, and it's now 2014 and this same thing just happened to us. (We're a non-profit public museum). If you're still out there can you tell me if you got your money back without paying the restocking fee, and what you did to make that happen?
Thanks- bek

These are scammers. They start as a courtesy call then just before ending tell you their sending you an order of bulbs. Been doing this for years. Last company I was with they did this before I was hired when I denied payment and tried to send the case back they threat with collections. They just tried calling the current place I'm at with the same line.

You are clearly an idiot if you think that $10 for one CFL light bulb is a steal! lol lol lmfao

This place is a total scam. I just took over the building maintenance position and received a call from a Jeff Davis using the company name regency technologies. He stated he had worked with the previous manager in the past and used his name. i figured that he was are supplier because he had listed out part numbers for bulbs we use. He was extremely pushy on getting an order. I told him we had plenty of bulbs at this time and i would get back to him when I needed some bulbs. He said he would send out a catalog and a home depot gift card. He then asked if I needed any regular cfls and at the time I needed them so I had them send me 12. I received a box of 18 and a week later I get a note from accounting about a 498.00 invoice for 18 light bulbs. Total BS. I just retaped the box and wrote refused shipment on it after reading all the reports on the BBB website and on this thread. These guys are good. I think they got info from other members of our company like what kind of bulbs we use than call someone else and say they are your supplier. I work with so many different suppliers and contractors its hard to keep them straight. I learned my lesson and will check out every "supplier" that calls and make sure we have a vendor number for them.

Just google "Maryland Firms Ship Unwanted Items" and that BBB article will tell you everything that happened to me. It reports that at least eight scamming companies which are all owned by Brian Waller and Brandon Riggs, have been scamming people by sending light bulbs and cleaner to companies who haven't ordered any, then billing them $600. White Pages lists Brandon at 1016 S Conkling St in Baltimore, MD 21224-5297, phone number 443-660-8597. He's also pretty easy to find on Facebook. One of his friends on Facebook is Stephen Sprainis, who lists his occupation as "administrator at Midway Industries," another scamming firm. I think he likes to change his name to Stephen Springer for the UPS return labels. White Pages lists Stephen Sprainis at 3919 Chaffey Rd in Randallstown, MD 21133-4003, phone 410-496-8096. Also on Facebook is Brian Plato of Baltimore, who lists his occupation as "administrator at Midway Industries." The guy who tried to con me called himself Chris James at Commercial Industries LLC, but I couldn't find him on Brandon or Stephen's Facebook pages, only a "Chris Jones." What really surprises me is how Del Vel Chem at 250 Old Marlton Pike in Medford, NJ continues to ship light bulbs and cleaner for these companies when it's likely that half of all their orders must be returned, as mine was. So I decided to call them. After confirming with Bonnie Spector (very nice lady) at Del Vel that all eight of those scamming companies do indeed order their bulbs and cleaners from Del Vel, I called the CEO of Del Vel, Steven Pollack, to make him aware of this nationwide scam that was being conducted using products ordered out of his warehouse. He refused to read the BBB article, or so he told me. This is what he said: "It's not my business what my customers do with my products. I'm just a fulfillment center. I have over a hundred customers and I can't keep up with what everyone does. I'm not concerned!" I told him if at least eight of his customers are crooks then what does that say about him? I'm sure you would all agree that it's good business to be somewhat concerned with what your customers are doing with your products. For example, a pawn shop might refuse to sell firearms to someone with a criminal history. An honest bartender would refuse to sell alcohol to someone obviously drunk. Yes, they might be losing a little money, but they take these actions because they know they could involve themselves in wrongdoing, be held liable for harm done to others, and damage their own reputation. Well Mr. Pollack, I see on your LinkedIn profile that you got your bachelor's in finance, now you just need to get one in ethics and morals.

Don't let anxiety get to you. There's nothing they can do. Keep the stuff, it's yours. They will try and say they will send you to collections. There is no collections department. Do not pay them and do not lose any sleep over it. Enjoy your free degreaser.

They are using the name Regency Lighting now and giving out the number 877-424-2024. Same scam though. Caller said his name was Tony Lewis. The real Regency Lighting has never hesrd of hjm.

this "company" called my work , said they usually sent in the light bulbs for us, I wasn't sure as i was new to my position here. ordered a catalog, that's literally it. They sent in four huge degreaser bottles which i assumed were courtesy of them . looked this up, called them, and inquired, they said that we'd be getting a bill in the mail soon. I laughed and said we hadn't ordered them and i apologized as well as offered to pay the shipping to return them. He said what kind of business model would that be, I said I'm not sure but none of us ordered this so the mistake was yours. He was a total shark I said im sorry that's all i can do for you. He got aggressive so I hung up. He called litterally three more times. my anxiety is through the roof right now...

They got me too. Several months ago, a guy with a very noticeable Indian accent (he said his name was "Bill Jackson") spent a lot of time on the phone with me. Towards the end of the call, he says something like "okay, your order will be on the way shortly" kind of matter of factly, and when I explained to him that I didn't order anything and was not going to order anything, he just hung up. Another guy called several months later with the same pitch, "did you get that catalog we sent you?" of course there was no catalog. So he offers to "resend it" along with a nice little prize. This time, it was going to be a really nice knife from Bass Pro Shops. Once again at the end of the conversation he says, "okay, so we'll send the catalog, the knife and those cases of mini twist bulbs to you" I did not order any such bulbs, but I figured I would give them a try as I was running out of them at the time. Big mistake. The bulbs came shortly and the bill was outrageous. Also the "prize" was a $10.00 Walmart gift card. Considering how much they were overcharging for the bulbs it could have been a $250.00 gift card and they still would make a tidy profit. A couple of days ago I got a call from a different person asking if I got the gift card. I told him I did, and after some pleasantries (they're always very friendly until you tell them you don't want their stuff) he told me my back order would be ready shortly. Which back order I asked him. When I told him to just cancel the "back order" he hung up. This is not a legitimate way to conduct business.

Lee Grant with United Distributors just called our office and said I am trying to get back up with the maintenance supervisor and I said how are you trying to get back up with him when you never would have gotten up with him in the first place. I do all the ordering and I do even know who you are. He says well I need to talk to him and I said you can talk to me and he says I need to get up with him because he has been screwing my wife....WHAT??? Are you flippin kidding me....the funny thing is our maintenance tech is a female...EPIC FAIL. A hole...
I do a search on Lee Grant prank calls and what do I find this site...wow!! Losers. I have placed this number on the DO NOT CALL REGISTRY and they better never call us again. SCAMMERS!!!
If it happens again. I will report to BBB, FBI and PD dept.

Nice young man called by the name of "James", could hear call center activity in the background... Claims he spoke with my elderly dad in Jan. about some remodeling. He said he was in the mid-Wilshire area but when questioned further he said the main office was in the City of Orange... The name he used was "Homebuilder's Association".... 877-907-4405 X 167 he called from 626-677-7722... Of course this was a bogus call and when I told him the number was on the DNC list and asked if he would take the number off his list he was professional and pleasant about it although he probably won't.... My ex worked for one of these companies as an estimator for a couple of weeks until the supervisor who was training him told him to climb up on the roof and poke some holes in it with a screwdriver, he quit on the spot.

Got a call from these people 3-28-2012 Offered to send catalog and free leatherman tool kit. They knew my name and dont know how they got my number, They knew the church address and said they would send half of order of bulbs... told them do not send anything, Then they hung up. I have told billing and recieving about this, If they ship, do not accept,, if they send a bill, we will not pay,. If somehow this gets to our church, If they dont come and get there stuff, I guess we can say, """Thanks For all the Free stuff.""". The number that"" Paul Peterson"" gave me is 877-712-2140. said that was a cell but its not.It is the office... I did call and left a message not to send anything and not to call back..

These losers got my assistant one time when I was on vacation. A few days later, here come the bulbs with the big bill. I wrote "Return to sender" on the box and that was that. You don't have to call them and say you are returning them...just do it.
I'm also guessing that theey are the same people as "Werner Electric" because they do the same thing and both of them are located in Maryland.

United Distributing Co.
PO Box 1452 - that's the address they gave me over the phone(too scared to give a physical address)
Sykesville, MD 21784
877-712-2140
They are scum preying on unsuspecting people; fast talkers that manipulate you into agreeing to accept a box of bulbs and a personal gift. They record the conversation for legalities. They use various AKA's with the last name Davis ext:209. The phone answering person (whom was very skiddish about giving me pertinent information about their co.) stated Craig Robinson ext:316 was the owner...he calls me back the next day (trying to "verify my address for shipment") stating "Phil Davis" was his boss. I didn't get duped but I'm sure as they search business numbers and do mass callings they stick it to alot of people. You've got to be on your toes!

We recieved 15 bulbs with no authorization. I called and spoke with a "supervisor" named Joe who assued me he would never send them out without approval. I assued him that as the purchaser I never would have ordered them without a PO and being checked out with the BBB first, which he would have failed to pass.
He stated he will send a pick up for the bulbs, and I let him know he has 5 days or they will be considered a gift and we will destroy them.
I also advised my AP not to pay any invoice. I will be filing a complaint with the BBB if they do not comply within the 5 days. I will post what happens (or doesnt happen) after my cut off date.

Did you get a return address in Sykesville, Md? We are having the same issue - 1 case of T12 at $398.80 - did not order, used the same line of prior business with them and can't get anyone at the 443 # that was on the invoice. If you got a different address please let me know - we don't want these but can't return to a PO Box.

Hi Fred - we just got the same kind of problem - their address is PO Box 1452, Sykesville, MD 21784 and the phone number we got was 443-712-2145. Good luck - I am getting ready to do battle with them too.

Sounds very familiar...I also received a call a couple of months ago where they guy told me that in order to keep my account opne he was going to send me a few light bulbs (received a box with 15 light bulbs a few days later with an invoice for almost $400). I called them back and said I wanted to return the merchandise because it was too much money, so Mr. Mark Stevens, politely offered to donate half to the church by reducing the cost by 50%.
A month later, (today), I am reading this messages and realize that I was part of a scam. Luckly I still have the "reduced invoice" and the light bulbs sitting in my office. Thanks for all the feedbacks.
If they are still out there, I have the light bulbs for them...just need to know where to send them; or else...
