I just received a call from NRA, and the representative asked to speak with a relative of mine who doesn't live with me nor in this state.  I called the number back and the same person answered the phone with an unprofessional demeanor.  Her words to me were,  "How can I help you?" I told her that she's a scam artist and to refrain from calling my house. The number is 9042451380.

I received a call from NR Associates using a local number of 949-468-5570.  She asked to speak with me by first name only tricking you to continue a conversation with her.   Then she switched gears talking very fast I told her to slow down and asked what company she was calling from.  Then I asked where she was calling from response of Georgia.  Then I asked her address which she stated they are unable to provided.  During my questions she wanted me to confirm the last 4 of my social and there was a matter that needed attention in which I never responded to.  Well after she would not provide a business address I hung up.  She hasn't called back as of yet.

NR Association. Would not tell me why they were calling. Sounded very shady. I would not verify any info. And hung up on them. 504-208-4149

I am so glad I found this site.  I got a call today at work from Mr Frady from NR Associates wanting to settle a 775.55 credit card debt for 271.44.  He told me the debt was from 2001 and gave me an old address and last name. I told him I was not even at that address or using that name then. I told him it could have been an ex using my name, " oh he said we get that all the time it happens a lot." Feeling anything is possible I asked him to email me that I was at work and couldn't talk.  I gave him my work email.  I work at a state prison and I don't think he realized that while we were talking.  I have not heard from Mr. Frady yet lol. After looking up the infromation the debt is past the collection time. Thanks to everyone who posted all the helpful information the number that contacted me was a local number 225-341-4954 but he asked me to call him back at 877-575-9527.

I got the call today from the 925-246-3429 number and was asked by a serious-sounding man to call him back at the 877-936-1165 number.  Called back and left a mssg asking for a return call.  Haven't heard back yet, but after reading this blog, will tell him to eff-off if he does .. My credit is also fine.

The calls had stopped for about a month.  They are now calling my cell and work phone.  When I have tried to talk to someone, they did threaten me with a garnishment and legal documents.  I told them to send me something in writing but I have never received anything at all.  I have no idea what this is about.

Got same phone call w/ same skipping message of "serious matter." The number they called me from was 720-505-2775. I have no debt. Thanks for this site--it is really helpful!

We too just received a call from this company. "Tom" (Tom's been very busy wouldnt you say?)  left a very "muffled"message on our answering machine. Thanks for all of the comments here as we are not in debt and it's concerning to me that the gov't can't stop these kinds of scams. Maybe I'll call the news media and have them investigate and I would encourage others to do the same.

I come home to having this important message on machine.  I return the call, only to have it answer with no identification of company, but a Mr. Stewart states I can leave my phone #.  Since it was a Mr. Lewis that left the first message, I felt I needed to check this 877-936-1165 # out.  Thank you for confirming that it is a scam.

I also received a few calls from this "Tom" from NR Associates, most recently receiving a message on my answering machine yesterday afternoon.  1-877-936-1165 was the number that he left to call back.  However, after reading all of these posts above, I have no plans of ever contacting this company, just deleting and ignoring these messages.  I tried to report this to www.donotcall.gov registry, however the number is not registered.  So, I will continue to simply ignore his messages and I have no intention of ever contacting them.  Thank goodness others have also received calls from this "supposed company", I was very suspicious that this was some kind of scam, and others have confirmed my suspicions.

I got a message that I was to call The N R associates back at 1-877-936-1165. When I called them they said that they had preliminary papers for me. What was my address and last four of my social. I told them that I wasn't giving information on the phone and ask if this was a scam. I told them I wasn't giving them any information. They called me 3 monthes ago and they cussed me and said I had a credit card from two years ago for 10,000 dollars. That is a lie. I have never had credit for that much. They are trying to scam people. He actually told me he was going to arrest me to scare me into giving him money. I know I don't owe that much and that he was full of it.

Called my house number, twice - once as 630-405-6417 "UNKNOWN NAME" then as 877-277-4882 "TOLL FREE CALLER", and THEN to my cell as 630-405-6417 where "Tom" left his choppy msg.

Fague messages are left but claiming urgency.

Received the same msg from "Tom" to call 877-936-1165 though caller id listed 630-405-6417.  
Phone msg breaks up at the beginning leading me to believe it's some recording.  He never used my name in his msg.

Just received the same call they call from a local# quite interesting first she said she was calling from Gainesville fl and then she changed her story and said Atlanta. These people are vicious. THEY NEED TO BE STOPPED...

Got a call, NR associates 877 936 1165 , showed on caller ID as a local number and not the 877 number he wanted a return call to.

I also just received this call with the threat of the 1099C.   I contacted the IRS, the secretary of state and then finally the Texas office of consumer Credit.  All were very helpful and ALL advised to not respond to this third party debt collection agency.  If you have questions please call the Texas office of Consumer Credit 1-800-538-1579 as they are very helpful in explaining your rights and how this is not lawful. The Statue of limitations in Texas is 7 years.  The man i spoke to even had the ability to look up this NR association, as they have to have a license to do this, and they don't exist.  He even recommended i call and report them to The Federal Trade Commission @ 1 877-382-4357.  Here is a link to there website that has a printable brochure of your rights.    I hope this is helpful.

they've called me multiple times over the last few months talkin about "a very important business matter." i also had Tom from NR association. funny thing is, i'm a high school student. i am not involved in any "business matters," much less a "very important" one.

Tom left me a message at my office.  Will not be returning his call.  My caller id said he was calling from 949-468-5570 but he left his no. as 877-936-1165.

Im recieving the same calls stating they are with NR collecting a debt and that my phone # and ss# has been placed in there office. Not only are they calling my cell phone they are now calling my job!

Yeah, watch these guys, you need to report them to the National Do not call registry. Also, you can ask that they only correspond with you my US mail, which is your right. Next, VERY few states can garnish wages over unsecured debt. Only Student loans and other federal loans are appropriate for wage garnishment. Next, a 1099C can only be used if the debt is over 600 or 800 dollars, Im not sure which, but its either/or. So if they are calling you, say about a 300 debt, NOPE can't use a 1099C...at all! plus, SOL has been over ten years. It is ILLEGAL to contact you for a debt when the SOL has run out. These guys are bottom feeders who buy debts at pennies on the dollar, then talk tough to get somekind of money. Stand tough with them and ask for no more contact.

Got a call from NR Associates. Told me I owed money and to pay them or they would file a 1099 witht he IRS. What a scam! Don't answer their calls ever!!!!

Also received a call form these people. Spoke with Heather about a debt owed from 2001 -- the SOL is up on this. She said that if I didn't call her back to afree to pay the settlement offered by 5pm that day that they would file a 1099 c on me. So what happens --- they called me back today. what happened to the 5pm deadline yesterday? i think the deadline thing is illegal btw. Yep again they threaned me with the 1099 c. Which would result in the IRS putting a lean on my property(I don't own propert) garnish my wages, ect. They did have a lot of info which is scary -- listing off current credit cards i have and available limits on them. They were trying to get me to pay for the debt with one of my current credit cards. I think this is a scam. I told her i was not going to pay this or agree to pay this as I had no idea who you are. And if they were going to 1099 c me to go ahead and do it. When I said that the man who was talking in the background the whole time feeding her infomation came on the line and said "ok we will let you go now" in a really curt manner ( al ost yelling and sounded angry) and hung up. Whatever! Strange & scary with all the info they have about me, even repeated the last four of my ss#. And an old address of mine.  Still I think it's a scam. I never write and post things ever but felt other should beware.

I also got a call from Tom from N R Association from this number. Part of the message was cut. I get calls all the time telling me the call is "of a very important matter ". I am debt free, so I ignore them.

I am current on all of my debts, yet Tom from "N R Association" called from this number. Some of his message was cut out (through no fault of my answering machine), so I could not hear who he was calling on behalf of. Go figure. Anyway, I will delete the message and not give them the satisfaction of knowing that they have annoyed me.

They left a message. Even though a live person left the message, it started in the middle as if a recording was leaving the message. Just another bottoem feeder scam.

I do not normally post to blogs, but I am going through an incident right now with them.
I can say they are really good actors, but I also wonder if they are able to sleep well at night.

Anyway, in my opinion, I would NOT answer a call from this number. If you do, don't give them ANY information (ssn, bank, routing number, account number), even if they say they have been authorized by xyz company to act on their behalf to collect a debt.
1)Even if have or have had an account with xyz company, make sure they prove
