I keep getting texes for a jim brown saying someone want to be my friend

This number called me to day asking for someone I've not seen in 15 years?her name was Goodwin and she said the company name was DRS - left this number to call back but call originated from 818-839-6976.  I am on the do not call list.

I just called them back.  They say they are for the local newspaper service.  Asked politely to be taken off their list of calls and he asked for the number they are calling.  After giving it I've been without a call for the past few days.  So far so good.  Wasn't angry or outraged or anything.  These people have a s****y job and they know it, no need to add to their most likely terrible day of work.

877-944-9744:  They called me twice today and twice yesterday.  Left 'empty' voice mail messages (no one talking).  Caller ID only said "Toll Free Call."

I went to the FCC "National Do Not Call Registry" website:  https://complaints.donotcall.gov/complaint/complaintcheck.aspx to file a complaint using their online form, which I did.

What was interesting is that the online FCC complaint form had an expiration date of December, 2011, which makes me wonder if the "Do Not Call" law has expired?  Does anyone know about that?  I also believe that you have to re-register your phone numbers every couple of years, but I cannot remember how often that is?

I've been receiving a lot more of these type of calls all of a sudden, beginning just after the end of 2011, so I am very skeptical about whether or not the law is even in effect anymore, or scammers and crooks out there have just figured out how to use loop holes to get around the law.  Has anyone else received a lot more of these calls all of a sudden, like me?

I have a standard ring for any new number calling me, if I recognize the name on caller id or I recognize the number , or if they leave a message and it is someone I know, then that particular number gets a special song ring tone. If I don't recognize the number/name or they do not leave a message, I first come to this site to check on the number. Once I have verified that they are scammers, that number is assigned a 'No Ring' tone and they are filed under JERK in my phonebook. My kids know that they are only allowed to answer phone calls that have the special song ring tone.

The only problem so far with this is that there are 2 charities in my home state that call up to 3 times a day nearly every day of the week. When these jerks hang up when my voice mail picks up, a loud screeching noise is emitted from their side as they hang up. This noise is not recorded by my answering machine, but it very loud and aggrivating and has woken me from sleep and scared me to death. I am grateful at the very least that so far none of the other scammers, when they hang up when my answering machine picks up, do not emit this noise (and so I never know they have called until I look at my caller ID.)

Received 3 calls in less than 2 hours from this # today. I have filed a complaint on the DNC.

Telemarketing call

I receive 3 or 4 calls a day when I answer the phone no one speaks.If I do not answer it goes to voice mail.

Several calls a day and no one is there when you answer.  I called it back and they said it was

a newspaper and that they will take my number out of their computer.  We'll see it this happens.

Going on 4 months now, Contra Costa Times near SF CA. I tell them I'm on the Do Not Call list and they just switch up numbers and keep calling. Real pleasant 3-4 times a day, you could not GIVE me that lousy paper at this point and I will NEVER buy another one from the newsstand.

Toll free hides behind identity.  Suspect it is Pioneer Press as I recently had problems with my account and cancelled my delivery.  They hire call centers to make never ending calls once and twice a day.  I have asked them to STOP calling (651-288-2880) and the calls continue using a different number.  I will be lodging a formal complaint with the MN Attorney General office.  

I prefer to not do business with this type of company.  Disrespectful harassment of customers!

i have.  yep, they got my attention after calling me three or four times a day.

I have, in the past, filed many complaints with the FCC for the seemingly endless number of violators to the 'Do Not Call Registry?.  Although this has proven to be effective and has prevented specifically identified violators from calling again there will always be more idiots who choose to do so.   I have since applied all of my valid incoming telephone call numbers with ?special unique? assigned ring tones and I do not answer any incoming call that activates the ?standard? ring tone.  With the ?special? ring tones the desired calls can be easily identified from a distance and even before looking at the callerid!  One needs not be interrupted from daily activities by having to rush to answer an undesired and intrusive phone call.   I advise facilitating this logical ?solution?.  It is very easy, takes only a few minutes and it will solve nearly all of the problems by immediately identifying the intrusives.  Unfortunately, as with all technologies, the uniquely and specially assigned identifying ring tones don?t activate 100% of the time because nothing is completely accurate (in rare instances ?desired? calls may activate the ?standard? ring tone) but since I took this course of action many months ago I have discovered that it performs as designed about 95-98% of the time.  I understand that we are all aggravated by the inconsiderate idiots who push their products and services or attempt to obtain money or our personal information when it is our desire and our right to be left alone.  We pay for the use of our phones and these other ignorant a$$holes have no right to take advantage of them.  I have chosen to live by the philosophy ?ignore the ignorant?.  It is up to all of us to personally take actions to ensure that our own rights are protected because others are focused entirely on themselves and their desires for personal gain.  If no one chose to answer (yes, we have a choice) these intrusively ignorant phone calls all of the efforts of those undesirables would be in vain.  Please take a few minutes to give this identification method a try ? if you do not feel that it helps then you can always reconfigure the phone numbers back to their original specifications.  I sincerely hope that this ?solution? helps.  It has proven to work for me!

They call twice a day.  I never answer.

No one ever answers when I get a call from 877 944 9744.  It rings 2-3 times then quits. It is SUNDAY and it happened again.

Keeps calling my number, after 3 rings I pick up the phone and no one is there. Did the do not call  2 months ago but still getting calls from WHOEVER this person is.

They just keep calling and never leave a message.  Saturdays and at night, what a bunch of low lifes.

If the law gets harassed.
They can't even stop.
Computers are taking over

I keep getting a call from 8779449744 and I want it to STOP!
When I call it back I get a constant busy tone.

When I get one of these calls like from 877-944-9744 I add it to my 'BLOCKED NUMBERS LIST' available to Verizon cell phone users for $4.95 a month, (blocks 20 numbers).  The caller gets a buzz and hang-up, they quit calling.  Works great if you have financial problems and your creditors keep calling you.
I list the phone callers name, usually found from an Internet look-up, along with the date, then the phone number.  When my 20 number list is full I start deleting the oldest first in order to add new offenders.

Do Not Call does not work because theee people use the loophole. Someoneyou have done business with gives them your number. Because you are a "customer" they have the right to call you. Just wait. In a couple of days, our scumbag Congress gave these thieves the ability to call all cell phones. Thanks Mr Speaker

These people suck!!! Been getting these calls for several weeks.  I don't know who they are because I don't answer them.  I've had it.  There must be something to do about these calls. I will look into this further.  They've opened a can they can't close.

They're back! These folks keep changing their number... You can add them to the list of companies that ignore Do Not Call. I found a call blocker a few months ago at http://www.BlockTelemarketers.net that works really well... with the push of a button it permanently blocks any more calls from an unwanted phone number. It's been a godsend, as I think I'm on every phone SPAM list in the world.

This number has been calling my cell every few weeks. Weekends/evenings/daytime you name it- very annoying!
