Sent an email yesterday to Ledbury (cc: the attorney general's office) and surprise, surprise it came back as undeliverable! "Relay Access Denied".  They did call my home yesterday but I did not listen to it and have no plans on listening to it, but they have not called today.  I'm sure someone got the email and then blocked it - LOL

I spoke with the Texas Attorney General's Office just a short while ago.  She sent me to a link that should be read by everyone.  It was posted on May 5th.  Even if you are not in Texas, this is very valuable reading material and probably your state will offer similar alerts.

https://www.texasattorneygeneral.gov/consumer/scams.shtml

Here are two others on that site that are must reads:

https://www.texasattorneygeneral.gov/alerts/a ... hp?id=50&type=1
https://www.texasattorneygeneral.gov/consumer/debt_collection.shtml

She also sent me to an FBI payday loan extortion scam published 12/7/2010:

http://www.fbi.gov/news/pressrel/press-releases/paydayloanscam_120710

As I was scammed, I want others to read up before it happens to them.  I hope everyone finds these articles valuable and informative.

Just wanted to pass on an update.  I did contact my bank and they stopped any future payments, will be stopping by their branch and fill out a fraud report.  Also finally got an email back from CashNet and guess what - Ledbury Management Group is not anyone they have used or know.  They did provide me with the group that bought my account so I can contact them directly.  Also, CashNet asked me to fill out their fraud report so I did!  Again, Tamianth Thank You for all your valuable information!  You saved me from really stepping into this scam any deeper than I already did.  I will be contacting the Atty General in TX and hopefully others will learn from my stupid mistake.

File fraud with your local LE and your bank asap!  As per the FDCPA laws, the threat is in violation and they need to provide proof of debt/debt validation and that they have the legal right to collect it. Also, they can not touch SS/SSI/SSD money's at all. Also look up your states SOL laws.  As for your loan, you should contact the company you had it with and find out who they sold it to.  You might also want to check your states payday loan laws as well.  Also they must be licensed to collect debts. From their web site, it say's management, let us help you - which implies they are not a legal debt collector and may not even own the rights to collect on it.

***I'm trying to run this company down and will post more info later on this one.

Extortion Scam Related to Delinquent Payday Loans

Washington, D.C.
December 07, 2010  FBI National Press Office
(202) 324-3691

The Internet Crime Complaint Center has received many complaints from victims of payday loan telephone collection scams. Callers claim the victim is delinquent in a payday loan and must repay the loan to avoid legal consequences. The callers purport to be representatives of the FBI, Federal Legislative Department, various law firms, or other legitimate-sounding agencies. They claim to be collecting debts for companies such as United Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Net, and other Internet check-cashing services.

According to complaints received from the public, the callers have accurate data about victims, including Social Security numbers, dates of birth, addresses, employer information, bank account numbers, and the names and telephone numbers of relatives and friends. How the fraudsters obtained the personal information varies, but in some cases victims have reported they completed online applications for other loans or credit cards before the calls started.

The fraudsters relentlessly call the victim?s home, cell phone, and place of employment. They refuse to provide any details about the alleged payday loans and become abusive when questioned. The callers have threatened victims with legal actions, arrests, and, in some cases, physical violence if they do not pay. In many cases, the callers harass victims? relatives, friends, and employers.

Ok, so it looks as though I've been duped!  I received a call from 877-957-4822 claiming I would be taken to court for an old pay day loan.  I did have a loan that fell through the cracks when I had to take an early retirement due to my back.  I called them and they said they would set up payments.  I have paid $75, then $150 on the 9th and they are going to withdraw another $319 on the 14th!  Is there anything I can do to stop this payment or am I just going to have to accept that I have been taken for a ride?  Live and learn I guess.

Also, the original calls were going to my cell phone. When I called to see what it was all about, I used a different phone. Guess which phone # they are calling to tell me my case file has been "escalated" on? Not my cell phone! So they apparently use caller ID.

I got a call from them about 2 weeks ago. When I called them back I kept getting transfered to different people. I told them I had never taken out a payday loan in my life and they said ok, then don't worry, we will file it as fraud. I thought that was wierd because when has a debt collector ever dismiss a debt because someone said it wasn't theirs. Anyways, I just got another call from them today saying the same thing they're saying to the rest of you guys. That they are going to serve me, blah blah. That is when I looked up their number to find out about them and I seen the other posts. I knew something was fishy. Beware. Scammers.

I got the same message today....that they will now be esculating my file.
Today I called back and asked when I was going to be served because when I was I planned on serving them. They told me I could not "serve" them. I said really?? cause I spoke to an attorney (a friend) who informed me since they continued to harrass me and threaten me with serving me with papers I could sue since this is harrassament. I also told them that the my attorney was looking into the matter and would be soon serving them at thier work place, in front of management, and that they management would have to sign. They hung up.

I've received calls from a "Christine" 3 days in a row informing me she would be serving me papers at my residence or place of employment. And would only be attempting one time before returning as "refused." Well, I am a SAHM and no one ever showed up at my residence the day she said. And in my county, process servers don't typically alert you ahead of time. Now today, I get an automated call from Ledbury Management Group that "due to lack of response" they are escalating my matter to their litigation department. Ok. I have never received ANYTHING from them to respond to. After researching their company, it is for a payday loan from 2011. I have no problem paying the principal amount, but will not pay their outrageous interest rate, as it is illegal in my state! I have also sent cease and desist letters to all 3rd party agencies they have tried to use. And yet, they continue to harass me.

Leaves messages about a payday loan that I never applied for.  It's an automated message that just keeps looping.  When I press "0" to speak to an operator to "get this matter resolved" all I get is a looping message, the same message.  I've tried calling the number it leaves me, but I get disconnected after 1 ring or an operator that tells me this number is no longer valid.

guy called from this same office 3 weeks ago on a Monday stating that he was a process server would be filing papers at my local county court and serving me personally at me home or place of employment.  Called the clerk of court that day and for 3 days after that and they had no record of any filings against me.  They use really official terminology to scare you into paying them when all you have to do is check your creidt report and contact the clerk of court.  Any actions filed against you would have to be on record--
