I just received the same text. Thought it was odd because I didn't apply for the specific job. I never called the number, just came straight here. After seeing the previous entries, I will not call because my suspicions have been confirmed.

Got a txt from this number asking to me to call about a job I applied for.  I think it is a scam. I have applied for jobs but an employer would never send a txt for me to call them.

Telemarketer
Got the same text as everyone about customer service position. Called the company after reading about this online from google search since just about everything is a scam these days.  Confronted the guy about their scam and he said "fine, dont give us any information, its your choice if you dont want a job" and hung up.

I just got a message too. Thanks for the input. Reading all the comments, the number must belong to a telemaketer.

The text is sent by a "Career Network".  It's a scam, don't respond, don't give them your info.  They seem to be using creative telemarketing for educational advertising.

They asked me to respond to a job that I hadn't even applied for.  Google "Career Network Scam" for more info.

Just got a text message on my cell phone to call this number to confirm my application to a job I applied to on CareerBuilder.com. I called the number back and they claim that they are asking some questions on behalf of the company I've applied to that would take 5-45 minutes. Sure enough, one of the questions was...
What is your level of education and do you plan on furthering your education?

I don't know about you guys, but I provided a resume that clearly shows any education I have after high school. This seems to me to be some kind of scam for some online school. Needless to say, I gave my education background and said "No, I'm not interested in furthering my education."

That was the last question that was asked of me.

I got that call too this morning - - called them back but told them I was on a lunch break - they told me to call back - but seemed very 'disinterested' when I asked if the location was where I was looking and after a brief pause, she said yes.  I dont want to waste 45 minutes - I did the telephone interview with another job I had - but it was a local company and lasted about 10 minutes AND I knew who they were calling for. This one seems too fishy and playing on people who are job-hunting  . .

I also applied for a job online and this company sent me a text
(without asking me if they could)telling to txt STOP to end it.
Seems like they were going to enter a subscription of these texts.
I didnt call them yet so I dont know if there really is a job or not.

I just called this number back, received a text message this morning with the same info that other people did.  They reviewed the information I put in an online application, asked about my education level, and that was it. I am hoping not to hear from them again, but seems legit so far...

I too received a text today with the following message.

(CAREERNETWORK): Hi Josh ******, call me about the Web Developer Job you have applied for 8779659990. (txt STOP to cancel)

After confirming my information with the guy, he asked if I was interested in furthering my education within the next 1-3 years. I said yes and he said, "well let me give you the name of this service, they work with people trying to work and go to school at the same time." I immediately felt like I had just wasted 5 minutes of my day.

I kept telling him I was going to pay cash for my education, I have already picked out my school and I already know what classes I need to take. All he would say is, "they do all that," whatever that means and, "it's worth checking out." He tried to be all buddy buddy with me and say stuff like, "good luck," and "we already got the ball rolling by sending your application directly to the employer."

Seems like a scam.

Got one of these today about a job I applied for. I agree with gregcom...why would a legitimate, well-meaning company refuse to give out their information in looking for employees, especially while trying to get all your information? I think it's simply a scam to get people's information for telemarketer lists.

i received a couple calls from these people, I have yet to hear from any job offers but they have contacted me again and again to inquire as to if I would like to further my education.  I actually got a little mad at the guy because they want more info from me, but they cannot tell you who the employer is.  I think its a scam.

It is not a scam, I called and they are a middle man for employors that pre screen you over the phone. If you get the text, call them because you may get a job through them. I guess they text because they so many incorrect info and it is more effecitant for them to have you call them to verify.
