Wow!  They must have a fast track to the court house if they are taking you to court today!  NOT!  Please read:

Consumers across the country report that they're getting telephone calls from people trying to collect on loans the consumers never received or on loans they did receive but for amounts they do not owe. Others are receiving calls from people seeking to recover on loans consumers received but where the creditors never authorized the callers to collect for them. So what's the story?

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:

is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.
If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:
Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.

Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.
Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft ? charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.
Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate ? but you think the collector may not be ? contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.
Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.

Received similar threatening calls from 1-888-209-4837. They told me I was going to be arrested for felony check fraud because of a payday loan that I did over a year ago. They insisted that I settle that day or I was going to jail. I paid them $300, and set up a payment for later this week. Well, I have been calling and leaving them messages to change my payment schedule...but no one calls me back. I went to the original payday loan office and it turns out they are closed down. These guys are clearly a scam! What should I do? Report them?

It is a crime to impersonate as an attorney. Go file a police report, contact your State BAR association and tell them what happen. Also, go to your local DA office and file a complaint with them as well. This is a felony case. Licensed attorneys frown on this type of behavior.

I just received a call from Marie Bryant at United Check Investigation, phone number 888-209-4837 x330. She was looking for someone I have not seen or heard from in 5 years.

The person she is looking for was arrested in 2007 for committing check fraud. I know the criminal case is close because I had to bail him out of jail. I made sure he went to all his court dates. Therefore, I can definitely say the criminal case is closed. I don?t know if he made any restitution to his victims. Knowing him it doesn?t sound like it.

I think these people are going through old court cases to shake people down for money.

PLEASE DO NOT PAY THEM ANYMORE THEY ARE A SCAM!! I had "investigator Richar Schaw" from that same company and same number call me. He said he was caln from the sheriff's dept. and that he had already contacted the county to file against me for a payday loan he intimidated me, so i agreed to pay two paymnts of $381. they got one but then i told them that i wanted a written statement of out agreement or else i would not pay anymore. He was so mad and yelled at me and called me a FRAUDElent person and he was being sarcastic, then he transfered me to Joe Michaels "lead investigator" and he was yelling at me saying he would see me in court and hung up on me. A real collection agency knows they would be violating the law acting this way. THere are do's and don't's that they must follow. So i called back and told him i knew my rights and that i would report them to The FEderal Commission and he yelled back and hung up on me. I also contacted the State Attorney @ 360-753-6200 and they gave lots of advice. I called my bank and due to it being fraud they will refund my money!!

These people contacted me like 6weeks ago, at my job saying within the hour I was going to get served a court summons b/c of a past payday loan. So I agreed to make payments...I've been paying on it for the past few weeks...today I call for some information that I never received in the mail and they gave me the run around. It was Todd Williams and Rick meyers's assistant...I feel so helpless because they have already taken over 300$ from me because they seemed so legit. Today I searched their "company" name..united check investigation...and I came across nothing but this website. Can anyone help me?? I closed my account they were taking money from...Im so dumb for believing them.

I rec'd many calls from this guy Todd Williams, asking me to pay a settlement from a Pay Day Loan that was borrowered.  I purchased a prepaid card from a Walmart and sent him a payment, he has called me back saying since I did not send in another payment they would be sending me a summons to  my job to come and get me.  I then pulled this phone number up on the internet and saw all these reviews I was just terrified of what I read.  Because I am trying to clean up my credit and then I get this scam on me.  I asked the guy to send me something in writing from his company but I have never received anything all I get is calls harrassing me for payment.  I was really going to pay the full balance I owed but now that this has happen to me they want get any more money from me because I talked with an attorney and he told me to don't pay another dime to this guy it is a scam.

don't fall for this scam and don't listen to anyone on here claiming this is legit. they are part of the scam. any time you have someone claiming to be an "investigator" and refuses to give a physical address and requires payment over the phone, it is a SCAM. if it isn't and they are a legitimate collection agency (which they're not), they have broken FDCPA laws and are subject to penalties and you should contact a law firm who handles FDCPA violations. it won't cost you anything as the collector is responsible for attorneys fees. but i wouldn't even bother since this is some loser calling you from his mom's basement.

Yeah they do try to scare you.  Problem for them is, when they say you owe on a payday loan, and you have never taken out a payday loan in your life, the call becomes a form of entertainment.  After these idiots mentioned "payday loan", all I did was laugh at every question and statement they made.  In the end, they hung up on me.

I don't think they will be calling back.  But if they do, I am going to have another round of laughs at their expense.
