I didn't get a phone call, but got a letter in the mail.
Red Flag number 1: The only ID on the letter was "Cardmember Services"; No bank name at all or letterhead of any sort.
Red Flag number 2:  It thanked me for my recent payment but said that the payment came from an invalid account number ending in xxxx.  I don't recall ever having had a card ending with that number and even if I did it was cancelled long ago.  How could they receive a payment on a card that has long been cancelled?
Red Flag number 3:  "if we continue to receive payments from the invalid account  after 60 days from receiving this letter we will return the payment to the remitter".   Very "bank-ish" language but complete nonsense

"If we continue to receive payments" - something a vendor would say of the bank/CC not something the bank would say of the vendor
"FROM the invalid account" - the CC account that I use to MAKE a payment, which according to this document goes to . . . my CC account???
"We will return the payment to the remitter" - i.e.we will send the money back to who sent it - presumably ME or the bank/CC company.  Again, very "bank-ish" language but a load of hogwash.

The letter did include the same phone number, which is listed on the US Bank site as a valid number, but I've received numerous legitimate documents in the mail from US bank and NONE of them look like this.
This has SCAM written all over it.

Call came today - Press one if this is: (my name) - which I did. Then it asked for my Zip Code. (which I did not give) and it hung up.

Havn't found out who the "_uck" this is but I wonder just how much a scam it is.

Same exact thing happened to me. I did not give the zip and they hung up. But, it kinda freaks me out that they had my name...  But, if it was legit, they would have told you who they were up front!

It's US Bank... If you had a WorldPerks credit card- those cards are invalid starting Jul 3 due to the Northwest-Delta merger. New credit cards were issued as "FlexPerks" and need to be activated (if you choose) If you get a call from this phone number, you can hang up-- but go to the flexperks website for info.

It is U.S. Bank, letting Worldperks Visa card members know their cards will expire. The call is benign and informational.

It also has to be a legendarily moronic way of doing so -- what kind of credit card company calls you and then asks you for information (or uses zip code as its security question when, um, any not-intended person answering the phone would likely have a pretty good idea of their current zip code).

Same story here on 9OCT2009 recording, when you press two it says goodbye.
no ID of who it was.
Could be  US bank as I have/had a WorldPerks card that they want me to switch,
never could figure out why I should.

That may be so.  I have been called at least twice today by the same number.

I have been sitting on my US Bank "Flexperks" card deciding whether to activate it.  (The "FlexPerks" offer doesn't seem all that compelling to me and is a response to the combined Delta/Northwest moving their program to Delta's AMEX and more or less "firing" USBank.)  Same MO as reported: "This is an important message for" (pause) (my name).  Press one if you are (my name).  Press one and it asks for your zip code.  I hung up at that point.

Their opening recorded message would do well to include some sort of identification of who is calling... I don't answer calls like this and usually just hang up if there is no one identifying themselves within the first five seconds (and I still hang up sometimes anyway).

Perhaps I'll activate the card and then cancel it straight away.

It is US Bank calling regarding their new Flex Perks credit card that will take the place of the World Perks credit card if you choose not to apply for Delta/Northwest's new credit card that gives you points for flight miles, purchases, etc.  If you go with the new Flex Perks credit card, you need to activate it and that's why they are calling.

I do not know where all these people get my phone number that is not listed in the yellow page directories. I got 2 calls from here today, but they did not leave a message. I am making a list of unwanted calls to keep by the phone that I have researched, so I know what idiots are calling me this time.
I also check the CallFerret site which also lists unknown calls. It has additional #s not on this site that come in handy.

This number has called me several times in the past couple days. It is a recording. When I call it back, the recording asks me to enter my credit card number which I won't do. I saw some previous posts saying this is US BANK phone number but I have only one credit card (It's a Citibank card) Sounds like a scam!

Found out it is US BANK's customer service phone number

Whoever called did not identify themselves as being US BANK but just started by saying if this is Eric "Lastname" press 1 (I did that) but then when they asked to have me put in my ZIP code I did not enter anything and just hung on - it disconnected.

I have checked with US BANK. They said they did not make the phone call. So it might be someone who faked the caller ID and is trying to phish for information based on some calling list.

Got a call from the same number - they asked me to press "one" if it was Eric "My Lastname", then asked me for my zip code - which I did not put in. If they do not know where I am then it must be a sell job or a scam.
