Suspiciously, along with the mysterious charge from SuperPass that began transpiring at the same time, I've also been charged $25.75 on my bank statement.  I'm doing some research and will investigate this further before cancelling and requiring a refund.  I'm also notifying my bank.

I checked my bank statement this morning to see if I got paid from work and I saw on my statement a charge of $19.95 from a place called Privacy Matters 123 with the phone number 877-993-6264 next to it. I called it immediately because I didn't know what this was. They wouldn't help me without me telling them my social security number, my pin number or my debit card number .  I am going straight to my bank tomorrow morning and seeing what this is and hopefully i can get my money back. If not hopefully i can cancel my debit account and open another one.

My elderly parents noticed unauthorized charges on their Bank of America bank statement reflecting two separate $1 charges (9*24 Protect) and then one for $29.95 (Privacy Matters). They went to the bank to ask about the charges and were told that they had to call the phone numbers listed on the statement. They called me and thanks to your postings I was able to quickly direct them to report the charges as fraud and close their account before any further damage is done. Their bank account is tied into a debit-Mastercard that they rarely use. How on earth can these scammers keep getting away with cheating the innocent?! My parents went back to their bank and their rep called Privacy Matters ("PV"). After two calls the bank rep spoke with "Christina". She asked for my parents' telephone no. and my parents refused saying if they have their bank account they should have their telephone number. Christina was then provided with the zip code. Christina told the bank rep that my parents applied for the PM service via the internet which is a bunch of hogwash because they haven't had internet service in over a month and NEVER EVER make purchases online. The PM person indicated that their records show my father's name and home address. The bank rep told PM that the charge was not authorized. Christina gave the bank rep her ID no. and said they would credit back the account within 10 days. To be continued . . ."

There was a charge on my monthly credit card statement for $19.95.  I did not call 1-877 993 6264, despite the charge appearing on my statement.  I notified the credit card company of the unauthorized charge and allegedly, they will follow-up on the desputed charge.  Maybe yes, probably maybe.

If you signed up for a FREE Credit report and didn't read the fine print you our SCREWED.  It's the price you pay for not paying attention.  The fine print says that in getting your 'free' credit report you agree to sign up for a 7-day free trial of credit protection.  If you don't cancel after 7 days you get charged a monthly service fee.  In the same process they attempt to sign you up for 2 or 3 other services with a bright red "Too continue, enter your e-mail and ACCEPT".  In very small print under is a 'no thanks' icon.  The fine print says that by entering your e-mail you are agreeing to have your account charged for ANOTHER monthly charge for ANOTHER service.

Read the fine print.  I actually DID get my credit report for free.  I worked the system, only agreed to the required 7 day trial, and then cancelled immediatly after printing my credit report.

I had charges of $19.95 for seven months from this company!

All I did was look up my FREE (yeah right!) credit report/score and then for 7 months and then 2 more months, I was charged on my credit card!

I had called and called and called and wrote and wrote and wrote.

FINALLY, I had over $180.00 put back on my credit card.

And get this the next month, you guessed it ANOTHER charge of $19.95!

I thought it was just ME, but after reading this post, I see this company's business practices are something that is way beyond lacking professionalism!  Goodness!

I got my bank involved and I had to write a letter to my bank, send it via certifed mail to confirm that I did NOT authorize these continual charges!

And today I got an e-mail from Privacy Matters 1-2-3 and I called my bank immediately.

Thank goodness there are NO charges on my account TODAY, we'll see about tomorrow.

SIDENOTE:  watch applying to job sites that reqire a fee to look for jobs.  I just went to one webpage, for minutes to look around, and my credit card was charged.  I got it straighten out, but had I NOT looked at my bankin statement, I might now have ever known.  You almost need to hire a person to look at your banking statements/online statements 24-7!  Now for those of us on al budget, that is even more stressful!

Dr. C.

*Hang in there gang and get those charges be it $1.00 or $100,000,000.00 off of your accounts.

Write the BBB too.

Hope this helps, I hate to see people hurting over this mess! :(

I checked my account to find that this thing called "PS BUYERS CLUB 877" had billed me $69.80 for some nonsense that I've never even received once. Funny thing is they said they wouldn't bill me until the first of July, and according to my account I actually got billed on the first of June. Now all I can do is look for the phone number associated with them so I can cancel this. Need help.

I have had this happen to me and now they are using another number and I looked that # up online and there were other people who posted stuff about this same issue...check it out her is what I posted on that stream:

I just started to recieve calls from this number 616-980-1153 on the date of 4/7/10, but of course I did not answer a phone number I do not know and like many of you I let it go to voice mail. No one left a message and they called me 4 times at 10:57am,1:27pm, 3:24pm, and 4:44pm(est) and my cell phone shows the caller id as different cities in Michigan? The one thing I can think of is that I have used my card for online was a people search engine I had looked up a person to see if the were who they said they were, and paid 0.95 cents for it the number of this company is 1-877-993-6264. Since then they have tried to bill my pre-paid debit card $29.00 and then another charge for $16.95, well luckily there is no money on my card..lol..and they have not tried to bill my card since March 29th and the automated voice response is stating the membership has been cancelled(hence I never signed up for a membership). Believe me I will be continuing to check my card and I think Im also going to give them a call later during their business hours. Thank you god for all of you posting your responses because it has helped figure out exactly where these call are originating from! It shows some people still cares and so not want others to get ripped off.

I had THREE unauthorized charges taken off my credit card in Oct. & Nov for 19.95 and another in December for 23.95.  A firm called Privacy Matters 123 stated they received authorization from Classmates.com.  Both are FRAUDS. When I called they stated they could only cancel my "membership" and return the Dec. amount.  What is interesting is that the person I talked to found my situation to be very funny.  Tamarra
# 70041 she continued to laugh as I ask for answers about authorization. Their statement of wanting to give "outstanding service" lacks any respect for those they have committed fraud to and hopefully someone will SHUT THIS OPERATION DOWN SOON.

I was billed twice for this and found out it was from free credit report agency. They make you sign up for it then tell you to cancel within 7 days so that you can view your report. I DID cancel within 7 days and got a reference #. I just called and she said she would forward the charges back to me?  Hmm we'll see. what a scam. free? what about the overdraft fee they caused me?

FRAUD, FRAUD, FRAUD!!!! Please check your banking statements everyday!!!! I found 6 charges on my banking statement in the amount of $ 19.95 each. Three of them from INT*IDPROTECT MNTR SVC telphone # 888-337-4295, two from PROTECTION PLUS SVC telphone # 888-337-4295, and one from HEALTHPLAN telephone # 877-993-6264.
I called my bank to report it and they sent me an AFFIDAVIT OF FRAUD FORM along with a FRAUD CHARGE LIST which contained the information of all 6 transactions. I had to fill out the Affidavit and fax it back to the bank. My check card was cancelled and they had to issue me a new check card which will take up to seven days to arrive to me. What a mess!!!
