I just talked to Crystal from Elliot Greene attorney. I told them I was not comfortable giving them my SSN and a copy of my drivers license. She informed me that getting the paperwork notarized was sufficient and I did not have give the my SSN nor my DL.

After all of the CORRECT documentation is submitted, claims are submitted and funds are released in 90 days. If you have not received your money than there is something missing. Perhaps documentation that was not provided or can not be found. The Law Office does not get paid their fee, unless the families are paid first, so NO...money is not in Amber's pocket, thus it is NOT A SCAM. I'm sure she would like for the claim to be processed, just as much as you.

EVERYONE IS ALREADY AWARE OF THAT> Please read additional notes that have been posted for the past few years. That has been mentioned numerous times. No one has denied that. However, all claimants are not able to claim their money. Thus, when needed, the law office helps out. Reading is fundamental. Have a great day.

If you ask, they will tell. I asked if I was able to claim on my own and they agreed that I could and left me their number in case I had problems. After trying to do so and realizing the State wanted a lot more information than what I had, I called them back. So, essentially they could have saved me a lot of time. Rather than in the end having to wait for half a year, I could have went with them and only waited three months.

Seems like you're ALMOST right, but not really. Fees are limited to 20%, ONLY IF they do not give you full disclosure. On the paperwork clients receive it gives full disclosure. Disclosure meaning where the funds are located. fltreasurehunt.org is not a secret. Elliot Greene's law firm does not force anyone to work with them. They're actually doing numerous people a favor by even letting family members know they have unclaimed money. So, I guess in that case, you're right. They should thank them. I sure did

Ok Kiddos, sounds like the Elliot Greene Law firm is collecting a fee for something that you can do for free yourself. Probably technically not a "scam" but sounds like they do not let you know that you can get all the information and money yourself. Here is what they are doing. There is a process in EVERY STATE called escheatment. If property is left unclaimed in a bank account or a pay check where they cannot find you or any other form of unclaimed property, then the property has to be transferred to the secretary of the treasury of the state. So for example the site in Florida, where the firm is located is https://www.fltreasurehunt.org/. The firm will probably call you and say something silly like "Did you know that you have unclaimed property or that you are an heir to an estate!!!" OMG! (not really exciting they are pulling it from public records). They will offer to get you the funds for a fee you can do it yourself though. Say "no" and check your secretary of the treasury unclaimed property division. WIN!

Okay everyone, LISTEN UP!

Florida law allows this attorney (Elliot Green), along with a slew of other Florida licensed attorneys, private investigators, and CPAs to register with The Florida Department of Financial Services as claimant's representatives. These firms have access to the Departments records and frequently contact account owners, or their heirs, soliciting contracts to assist in the recovery for a fee. Fees are limited to 20%, up to a maximum of $1,000 per account, with some very limited exceptions to the 1k limit (meaning more than 1k).

HOWEVER, with the same amount of effort it would take for you to provide the information and documentation to Mr. Green, you can do the job all on your own and will get ALL of your money? NO FEE REQUIRED. (You're going to have to wait for your money either way. Don't let them try to tell you it will take less time with them, or con you into thinking you can only do a status check with them, because you can check the processing status of your own claim on the The Florida Department of Financial Services website.)

Therefore, even though Mr. Green is in good standing with the FL bar, this is still a scam of sorts? it?s just a legal one.  So I suggest that you thank them very much for letting you know, and go to the site yourself (fltreasurehunt.org) to start the process of making your own claim, and KEEP ALL YOUR MONEY.

(Just FYI, I was contacted by another company AFTER I had already made my own claim.  Needless to say, I?m ignoring their letter wanting me to fill out their form and let them take some of my money.)

My parents got a call about my late husband, gone 3 years ago, from an amber.  Rude and obnoxious she was.  My parents gave out NO information and Amber didn't like that.  My dad told them to send information to him and he wasn't going to give out any info on phone.     Very rude people.

If this isn't a scam, why won't your office call me back after I gave you all the information you asked for. I have been waiting for months and no return call or funds. Amber hounded my family on almost a daily basis for the information that was requested. Is the money in her pocket?

I too got a call from The Law Office Of Elliot Greene and checked him out and believe that he is legit.I got the paperwork from the firm and it provided me with the information I could use to get the funds on my own. I did go to the Fl. website but had a problem with the account numbers as Greene gave me 7 account numbers and Florida would only give me one number.
I am considering using this firm to retrive the money that is due to me however I do not feel that the fee that they are wanting to charge me will be acceptable with me and I refuse to pay that kind of money for something I can get for free! I would be willing to negotiate with them and pay a Fair finders fee,but 33% is just out of the question!
I may have born at night.....But it wasn't last night!

More than likely if you have not heard of the deceased person, than you are not the correct heir. They are hired by government agencies to try to locate the proper party and if you were called you probably had the same name as a relative

Many people need the assistance of an attorney in order to submit a proper claim to the State.  There are people that do not have a computer and there are people whose situations are more complicated than, apparently, yours was.  Those people -- you can be assured -- do not agree with your statement, "What a shame there are attorneys like this..."  If you change your oil and oil filter on your car, do you say, 'what a shame there are mechanics like this...'?

That interesting. Its obvious you're upset, but just because their services do not and will not work for you and your family, doesn't mean it hasn't worked for others. The Law Offices of Elliot Greene is not the ONLY law office that assists people in claiming unclaimed funds. Perhaps you should contact the Unclaimed Property Division and inquire as to others. P.S> I'm sure if it was scam, they would not still be in good standing with the Florida Bar.

Elliot Greene, PA in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. Desperate for business!
Blocked after Google search revealed they were money chasers after unclaimed funds; which did not stop them.
Their so called research department came up with a distant inlaw who suffers with a permanent illness & they contacted her while she was very sick; they stated they were attorneys who needed to locate us immediately.
Inlaw understood it was an emergency and became distraught after learning this was only a law office soliciting for business; entire family is now upset with this law office & extremes they went to to acquire information that was not only in local phone book along w address; but also on internet along with immediate family.
The fools in this office were advised of our disgust with them and we were aware of the fund they were after and was in the process of having it returned.
Then expressed our "disgust" of their tactics with a promise to add to the online comments...
Spokeo was #1 & this is #2 of ...as many as I can submit.
For those who may not be aware of unclaimed funds out there....WITH PROPER DOCUMENTATION, NO ONE NEEDS AN ATTORNEY TO CLAIM THEIR OWN FUNDS FROM "UNCLAIMED FUNDS" FILED WITH A STATE. JUST GO ONLINE TO UNCLAIMED FUNDS W ANY STATE THAT YOU HAVE LIVED IN AND FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS IF YOU HAVE FUNDS.

I so agree;  cannot make a mistake like "his"  for "hers".  It's not like a grammer err or spelling err like writing  "their", for " they're". Something is awry in Denmark with some of these defending comments of the Greene Law firm.  If I had recieved $1,200.00 and found out the law firm got 1/3  of it when it could had gotten$1800.00, I would be annoyed I got skunked.  Otherwise, he is ignorant or stupid or both.
