I have worked harf for the last 7 years to eliminate my debt; through repayment,  settlement,  or as last resort bankruptcy.

These rude, hateful collectors call my house sy all times; early morning to late at night and even on weekends to collect a debt that has been "paid" for years; when I explain and try to verify to them that there is no debt ( because I fesl with the. original party not a collector ) the tell me " our computer says
otherwise and they never lie " and I tell them " computers can be wrong " and the collector say " if you don't make arrangements with me ... " and I say " a whole lot of words that I can not quote ".

Point is these companies have control " power " of the average citizen that can't defend themselves over s phone line. whether the debt is real or not; these companies call and procede to harass and threaten law biding,  taxpayers, ( I say this because if I wad a criminal 1. I'd be working for them, and 2. as a criminal. I'd hunt them down and let them know what it is like to fear harassment ).

It is my wish that someone in the government cared enough for its citizens to prevent collectors from harassing and threatening the people of this once great country,  so that we can take our first steps back to freedom.

Rise up my fellow citizens tell our government no more power to the " evil ones that mean to oppress us, i.e. debt collectors ", and complainn to the government in person, they care not for the internet; it is only through phone calls snd letters that change will occur;  meaning " do to the government what the debt collecters are doing to us ".

dont know who they are, but i just got this phone number less than a month ago and only had my previous number for a month, so way 2 quick 4 collections from my monetary history 2 catch up yet, havent gave number to any1...perhaps they're getting it from the place selling the phone. wont say the name of the store i got it at, but its a LARGE dept. store, if dept stores had religion this store would be Allah. read the fine print brothers & sisters ;)

They keep calling my cell phone. How do I get them to not call?

Get the Panasonic phone: you must have caller id service. You can block up to 30 numbers; some of these jokers have hundreds of numbers that they used. At least, turn your phone ringer off so you won't hear the harassing ringing; these callers by now should know, take it else where, nobody is listening to them. If you must leave your phone on, notify family members that you will only answer when you hear their voice on the answering machine.

Don?t ever answer yes and no questions from anybody who you do not know and especially if you did not initiate the call.
There should be something done about the incessant harassment via the telephone.

There must be some type of network where these harassers are adding your telephone number to a data base. They must be in cahoots; every tom, dick, harry, sue and jane is calling and for what. If they do not leave a message that is pertaining to you, do not call them back. If it is important, they will leave a legitimate number to respond.

I keep getting calls on my cell from this number. There is no message, and when I answer, there is a machine that says "please hold for important information," which I am not going to do unless I know what this is about.
My number is on the Do Not Call list.

Conserve debt collectors looking to collect on student loan debt they block the number and the caller ID says unknown or toll free call. Anyway, don't answer unless you have your check book out and ready to pay.

Remember, don't pay on old debt because, if you do it becomes new again and they will report it on your credit report as NEW DEBT. So, anything that is 5 years or older don't pay it statute of limitations to report it on your credit report is 7 years if you pay it they will report it as new debt and lower your credit score.

Me personally, I wouldn't feel comfortable giving my bank account or credit card information to some fly by night collection agency. You don't know who they have working for them, I have heard that sometimes they have people with shady pasts working for them. That is the last thing people need is some weirdo with all their information.

These people keep calling me to collect a student loan, that I never got, because I was on FULL SCHOLARSHIP.

Apparently it's a credit agency named "Conserve" that keeps harassing people who don't even know the persons they want!

it is called swiss colony collections department among other names and numbers Got a call from them yesterday. Don't know who they are or what they want and I don't owe anyone or anything any money. I don't answer my cellphone for any phone number I don't know, and any that's long distance not answered at all because most of them are scam's of one sort or another. Glad I took the time to do a lookup on google about the number to find out who they are.

I spoke to a Robert Allen regarding a bill from Villanova Online for a course I did not take.  I advised him of this and he stated that is not his problem.  I asked for the address to fight this and he stated I will pay and it will be reported on my credit on 12/13/10

By law, the collection agency has to notify you in writing after contact with you has been made.  It is also ILLEGAL for them to threaten you. Suggest that you report this agency to your State Attorney General.  I am currently receiving harassing phone calls from these a**holes regarding a person who does not live at my address and found this discussion thread while seeking information on who the company is who owns the 800 number.  I will be reporting "Conserve Debt Collection" to the Texas Attorney General

These people are harassing. They are rude and have no clue what they are talking about. They will try to collect on old student loans that you have already paid off or are paying on. Don't talk to them. Send them a registered letter telling them to no contact you again.

Kept getting calls for someone I dont know. Called the 877-999-1956 number back and the rep removed my cell number from their list within 2 minutes.  Seemed freindly to me.

They are contract harrassers making harrassment calls for a fee.
You could tell as they never leave a message,not indicate who they try
to reach or why they call.If you call them back most likely you have to
