American Cancer Society.  Call the number back and wait until it asks you to "press 1 for more information about the organization and the call list", after you press "1" you can enter your phone number to be taken off the call list.

I've been getting calls, too.  Be careful about pressing numbers.  I read in the newspaper about 1 1/2 years ago that pressing a number opens your line to the caller's use (i.e., abuse).  I'm sure the American Cancer Society wouldn't do this, if you can believe it is, indeed, the American Cancer Society.  I wonder why our Caller ID reads "800 Service" instead of "American Cancer Society", which certainly would convey much more credibility.

This number simpy comes up as "Unavailable" on my caller ID.  If it were really the ACS, that would be identified under the number.  Smells of a scam to me!

Hopefully the American Cancer Society monitors sites like this one.  I have put my number on the "Do Not Call" Registry and added the American Cancer Society to MY "Do Not Give" registry.  It is a shame for the people they are trying to help, but going about it with robo calls turns me off so much it trumps their effort.  Don't bother beating me up about how much cheaper it is and how the money saved can go to research instead.  The Salvation Army doesn't call me.  Even when I walk by the bell ringers without donating, they smile and wish me well.  Therefore, i rarely walk by without donating.

I have worked for a non-profit for almost ten years.  Even in this economy we are still doing well and we NEVER EVER cold call people.  I cannot stand getting these calls.  They call at dinner time, ask for my husband (who is never home at that time because he works late nights) and then hang up rudely when I say he's not in.  They should be ashamed of themselves!  I just got another call from them and it's 5:45 on a Sunday!  That's pretty bad.

Thanks for the tip on getting your number removed. Seems they've changed it, though. Now, you have to wait through their message, then you are given the option to "press 3 if you would not like to receive calls like this". I pressed 3, then entered my number, and was asked to verify. Then there was a message about it "may take up to 30 days to remove your number from our lists but we will make every effort to do so as soon as possible."

Can't ask for much more than than.

They call all of the time, and we do not want to receive these calls any more.

  You CAN stop telemarketing calls by logging onto www.donotcall.gov. This allows you to block your phone number. You'll still get politicals etc, but it does cut down the number of calls dramatically.

They call every day and there is no one there when you answer. It just goes to a busy signal.

We have been getting a call every day for the past month.  We have caller ID and I do not answer.  I have reported many other calls to the Attorney General Office in Pa.  and those calls stopped but received new calls with a changed number.  I have heard that these are off shore tele-marketers and this is how they are getting around the do not call list

I called the 888-200-0381  number & pressed option "1".  I entered my number & the computer voice says they will remove my number in the next couple of days.   Definitely seems to be the American Cancer Society,

This does bring up a point. Don't you think EVERY number that calls you should be REQUIRED to have this option to have your number removed from future calling attempts?  

What a simple solution to what is rapidly becoming a HUGE problem in this country!

Did anyone check their phone bill for any charges for calling this number?It may be a way the get money check it out!!

Just tried your number (4/21/2009)to cancel the calls from Cancer Society and it was intercepted with "This number has not yet been  activated"
