I've received a phone call from them for both me and my brother. He and I have never had any account together and I'm clueless add to why they are calling.. is this a get a job and take responsibility kind of case?

This 'law firm' called my dad at his office asking for me....by reading other posts on this thread, it seems to be for a Bank of America account. I did have a Bank of America card accoutn but that was paid off several years ago. I may have given them my dad's phone as a reference when I intially applied for the card in the early '00s (I have since cancelled the credit card and it hasn't been valid since 2010), but I'm scratching my head as to why they are calling now! I called the number back and told them to stop calling him (and another number they had)...they said they would, but will have to see if they listen....

No, it's not "a bunch of angry people who don't want to pay their bills" - they're angry people who want proof of debt and proof this scamming "company" can actually collect that debt - in writing - per federal law.

The office of Kevin Shine has called my home cellphon and google my family member. No debt is owed. I want them to stop acalling me.

I received a call from this number. The message said a Mr. Suriani was looking for my father in law. The really strange thing is that they also called my parents and asked for me in regards to my father in law... but they asked for me using my maiden name which is also my parents last name... which is NOT my father in law's last name. Why would they call MY parents... is that even legal to reach out to people that are basically strangers?, could my FIL have used my former address or phone number when applying for a credit card that he didnt pay back... it seems so ... random.

We were called by this scum bag firm asking for personal information about another person.  The caller was rude and aggressive and evasive about who he was and why he was calling.  We are not in debt not are we behind in any payments to anyone.  They were just fishing based on last name.

They called me wanting to settle for lump sum.  They wanted my checking acct info and post dated check. I agreed to the lump sum settlement but wanted to wire the money.  The Darrel bagney that was calling me got loud, rude and obnoxious.  He said he could give my deal to someone else if I didn't want to do check over the phone.  DO NOT GIVE THESE PEOPLE YOUR INFO!!!!!

Got a call from this number on my cell phone. They were looking for my dad. I know my parents are in a rough financial spot right now, but my dad is always sure to make minimum payments on his credit card. Do they handle more than Bank of America? He doesn't have a Bank of America account. There isn't even one near them. I told them I was his son. The woman got nasty with me, saying his name was registered with this number. I told her she was flat out lying to me because I opened the cell phone account on my own and my name is the only name that has ever been used with this number. She also tried to tell me they have sent numerous letters to MY address, which has also only ever been in my name because I built the damn house. I told her I'd pass the info to my dad, which I did. I still get calls from them daily, accusing me of being my dad.

I've been in tough financial times before and fell behind on almost everything, but I got caught back up. For those of you coming on here ripping people about being behind on bills, you need to get lives or a hobby. Some people simply don't have money to get caught back up. It happens.

To the moron saying people falling behind on credit card bills is what crashed the economy: you have to be living in a basement somewhere. Did you watch the news or read a newspaper from 2008 to now? Last time I checked, 2 wars we didn't have money for, banks handing out mortgages to people who couldn't afford them in the first place, and poor governmental leadership is what sunk the economy.

A person at this agency by the name of Mr. Bagley had been calling me for several days wanting information about my father. How he got my number? IDK . The area code was from my local area, but he told me to call him back at the 888 number. I was fed up with the calls and I wanted to find out what was going on so I called the number from my area and asked to speak with him. He had been trying to reach my father but couldn't and I found out he was from this law office, it all seemed sketchy. I told him I'd tell my father to contact him....is this really legitimate?

I had the same happen to me. I explained I know about the debt, but don't have money right now, but in a couple months.He said it was unacceptable that I have a full time job, so I should have the money. He said he could make the debt less if I gave him $1,000.00 up front. He said to borrow from family because that's what they are there for. He even said he would talk to my Mom for me...I said absolutely not and it's not my family's business to get involved with my loans.You can't get blood out of a stone! they call constantly throughout the day I don't answer anymore.I will be contacting the bank from the original credit card. They had told me the charged off amount would be persued by an inside collection dept...Not a Law office.

I received a phone call on my cell phone from 585-454-8588 from a man. He had my last name wrong and asked to speak to my son. He had my sons name correct. He asked how to get in touch with him and I asked if I could help him? He said it was personal. I asked him to give me his name and call back number, he said, Jeff Ley, from Buffalo with phone number of 1-888-201-6643. Not knowing what this was about I looked this number up. Will start with Bank of America first to see what this is about?

I guess we can all assume that your post is an effort to validate your endeavors. Especially since you decided to post it here at the top of all the complaints. It says you're fully compliant with federal regulations, so I don't see why you'd have any objections to my stating the following;
If these people contact you, demand verifiable written proof of their claims to be mailed to you. Not e-mail or fax. Ask for their legitimate address and phone number. Ask for their license number and if they are licensed to collect in your state. If they have contacted you at your workplace, tell them to stop. If an employer or coworker is contacted by them, have them tell them to stop.
Record all of your calls from them at home or your workplace. Be sure to tell them you are doing so. If they become harassing, send a registered letter to them instructing them to contact you by mail only.
If you owe a legitimate debt, verify that this firm has a legal right to collect it. Believe nothing you're told until you have verified any claims. Always assume you're being lied to. An Atty. will rarely tell you outright lies, but the complete truth is an area that they are not familiar with..at all.
Educate yourself as to your rights under the FDCPA. Research the statutes of limitations concerning debt in your state. Check with the BBB and carefully read any comments, complaints and reviews about any firm or company that contacts you.

you are both correct and incorrect and yes, it is completely fair to continue trying to be paid back for money borrowed.
Charged off debt is debt removed from P&L books so that board members don't have to explain to investors by the numbers don't match.  If $1B in borrowed money shows on the books as payments yet $500M is not being paid by borrowers (debtors) then investors wonder where that 500 is.  Therefore the 500 is charged off and removed from the books and sold.  It taken as a loss and a tax credit given.  Then accounts are then bundled and sold.  1% of something is more then 100% of nothing.
Those accounts are fully collectable and sue-able.  The SOL to sue is different in every state, however the SOL to report on your credit reports is 7 years across the board.  There is no SOL on collecting a debt.  It is owed until paid.  There is simply no way to enforce said payment.
FYI: be careful paying off debt.  Be sure to get letter agreeing paid in full.  A 1099C can be issued on balance.
