UGGGHHHH THEY CALL ME ABOUT 5 TIMES A DAY!!! I HAVE ASKED EVERYTIME TO BE TAKEN OFF THEIR CALL LIST AND THAT IS WHEN THEY HANG UP ON ME!!!! IF YOUR GOING TO HANG UP ON ME DONT F***ING CALL ME BACK!!!! THEY WERE CALLING FROM AN 888 NUMBER BUT IT CHANGED TO UNKNOWN TODAY SO OBVIOUSLY THEY KNOW I KNOW THE NUMBER!

I got the same text and called back and received exact the same answer. I said that I did not have a credit card, how about they sent the rebate to me and I sent back a check to them. The guy said no....then I said ok, good bye. Hope people are smart enough not to give out info but play around with them.

I got the same message this morning.  I called the number and they wanted my credit card number to charge a $2.95 fee for sending me a "free" $100 gift card supposedly sponsored by Walmart and Target for being their customer. The operator had a foreign accent and when I asked her who sponsored this program she told me the same thing.  
 I told her  that I would not give our my credit card number and hung up.  Decided to try and find out what this was all about and came across this site.  As they say, if it's too good to be true it usually is.

03-05-12, I was calling Charter Communications  A woman with a foreign accent (sounded Indian) answered and told me that I was one of the lucky winners of $100 worth of gift cards and all I'd be charged is a  $2.95 processing fee.  Thinking that it WAS Charter, I gave them the information requested.  When I finally got through to Charter, they knew NOTHING about this promotion. Guess I'd better call BBB and my bank.  The number listed on my phone was 888-436-2427.  Charter's number is 888-438-2427.

The number they gave me to call to cancel was 877-817-0164.  When I called that number, I got the usual Customer Service message about being monitored/recorded for quality assurance and that my wait time was estimated to be 30 seconds.  After the 30 seconds, it rang a few times and then gave me a busy signal.  It did this twice.  Then I got a guy named Trey who said the name of the company is "Your Benefits" but he didn't know their physical address (other than that they are in Tampa, FL) and he started turning it around and asking ME questions when I asked for their mailing address.  I did end up giving him my phone number so that he could take me OUT of their system.  I'm supposed to call them back on Wednesday to confirm that.

So I looked up that number and this is what I found:

What happens if you do reply STOP to the text? Will the messages stop?

I just filled out to join Joe's Crab Shack resturants e-mail list and I filled out information to get a coupon to Joe's Crab Shack. Not sure how the text was generated but I just got a text from 707-971-9721: "Congratulations! As a thank you, call 888-208-4854 to receive your $100 retail rebate. Reply END to STOP". I googled the number and came up with all of these complaints. Glad I checked it out first. I'm going to delete the text. Thank you all for posting these notes.

I got the "Congratulations" message from 415-323-9276, so add this to the list of numbers not to call.

I just got this same text about Congratulations as a Thank You please call 888-208-4854 to receive your $100 rebate...the number sending it is 707-971-9721. I haven't shopped at JCPenney's in YEARS so I really doubt it is through them...I don't use my number much at all for forms I fill out online, so I really don't know what it's from!

I got the text after I bought my plane ticket on orbitz. I'm hoping my phone number is the only thing they were able to get from that. I'll be checking my bank account regularly just in case <.< I can't believe a website like Orbitz would allow something like that. Makes me feel very unsafe.

am I the only one that was getting calls from several different numbers for some male enhancement crap from someone claiming to be nancy ??  I went to a local dollar store and bought 1 of those air horn things people use at sporting events just incase they or another calls again

to funny I am sick of all these idiots calling my cell  you fill something out online and those jerks sell your address.  I got numerous calls from a company selling some male enhancement crap.  I typed in the number and tons of people were getting it too

I believe it a scam.  I was looking for coupons fpr Michael's store and one asked to put my phone # and i did.  I got a text few minutes later that I won $100 rebate etc.  just finished talking to the guy. I asked him why this money and he said because i have shopped at walmart a lot, don't make any sense cause i don't shop at walmart that much.  anyways i am going to call them back and let them know about their scam business!

I just received a text about the $100 rebate.  The only thing I could think of was a couple hours after a purchase at Lane Bryant store.  Nothing filled out on the computer.

Now we know why JC Penney has dropped their prices by 40%.  They are selling our info to scammers.

to repeatedly email an SMS message to this j***off from a disposable gmail account.  After sending the first message, just keep hitting the REPLY button.  I sent a 1000 reply SMS to jerks like this just to clutter up their mailbox.

same stuff different day.   The origination number was a text to me from san diego cell 619-387-6616 with a call back of 888-208-4854.  Its best to remember that they will continue to get better at this... fake websites, fake US numbers... keep your eyes and ears open.  

I'm mostly pissed because I'm over on my texts until tomorrow, so these punks just got me for 20 cents to verizon!!! f*$k!

Did that work out?  I'm debating ignoring it. But I don't want to be charged some monthly fee......

please do no give out any information this is a SCAM and they are hopeless people... they just want to trick you and take $2.95 from you credit card. you will never receive any $100 gift...


AS WE ALL FORGET nothing is FREE in this WORLD or there is nothing called LUCK. its ALL Hardwork you do and get the fruit of it (money etc).....

Orignal number is 510-386-6520 that stated to call to claim $100. Tired of these companies taking up my text msgs.

Got a text to make 100.00 to eat/shop/stay in hotels-
Been getting so many texts telemarketer lately- there is a way to personally sue since DO NOT CALL  does NOTHING at all, its a joke- I wonder how much they are getting paid to do nothing....now that is a job I would want!!

Received a text message on my phone from phone number 510-316-6984 saying, "Congratulations! As a thank-you call 888-208-4854 to receive your $100 retail rebate. Reply END to STOP.  I didn't call or text.

Same text, but mine was from 949-572-7019 and the return call was to 888-208-4854. I did nor reply by text or phone and blocked the number on my cell phone. The whole scam started from a pop-up on the web to find coupons to print for Papa Murphy's Pizza!
