I got a voicemail from a phone number with the same area code as mine and like some of the other comments the message said they were from sprint calling about a "service alert" placed on an account ending in 4 digits that do not even match my account. My sprint bill isn't even DUE yet, obviously a scam but I thought i would google it and I found this thread.

I got the exact same message, automated, said they were calling from sprint and there was a "service alert" placed on my account and it was extremely urgent that I call in next 24-hours.  Sprint does not communicate with it's customers like this at all.  The number they called from 817-382-5160 looks like a local number as it has the right prefix for DFW area.  The number they asked me to call them on is 888-211-9939.

This is a scam. Received a call from this number that left an automated mssg stating it was Sprint customer finance and so then I called Sprint from my phone to verify and they said my bill was not yet and that they did not call but have had many people calling in regards to this prank/scam and advised me to be careful of people asking for any personal info as they do not place these types of calls. Do not give them your info!! This is a scam!

Just got this call as well. Started off with (508) 980-1378. Left a message to call back as there was a flag put on my sprint account. The call back number is (888) 211-9939.

very glad to get the information on this 888# i too was called & a message was left on my cell phone. they claim to be calling from sprint and i was told an alert was placed on my account. I imediatly called the sprint customer service dept and was told that it was a bogus call & not to return that call.

Hello all! I just received a call from this number and did as I always do and googled the number before giving them. Found this scam and started to work. I work for a fortune 500 telecommunications provider. This 8882119939 number is being provided by Zone Telecom and they can be reached at 866-539-9663. I for one know that my company has abusive use and fraud policies in place to protect people against this type of scam so I called Zone Telecom and reported my personal incident and also directed the service rep with Zone to this site to solidify my statements. I encourage any one and everyone who receives a call from an 800# trying to solicit information to go to the site I'm providing below. Use the drop down to select the correct 800# type then fill in the blank with the remaining 7 digits. It will ask you to solve a simple math problem to thwart bots. This will give you the carrier of the toll free number in question and in most cases a number to reach/report them!

i recieved a call from a local number 757-847-5040 stating they are Sprint  do not answer this call . The are not spring and left a number to call them back at 1-800-211-9939

I got a call from 882-211-9939, they would not say anything when i said hello. ?????

Received an automated call on this number stating that they were sprint and that my bill was past due, and that they would shut my service off that evening if I didn't pay immediatly over the phone.  I put them on hold and called Sprint on the other phone.  They confirmed with me that I actually had a credit balance and that my service was in no danger of disconnection.

i live on the west coast so i get the call twice a day at 12:30 and 6:15....lucky me.  i don't answer 888 or 800 numbers, and things like this are why.

Any chance this is for damaged phone returns. It might be a third party provider working for Sprint.

DONT PICK UP!!!!!!!!  DONT PICK UP!!!!!!!!   DONT PICK UP!!!!!!!!   They got me once before, and just tried again.. Somehow they have a list of SPRINT phone numbers, they call you and identify themselves as SPRINT to get a little info from you.  Then once you give it to them they use your account and your bill will be a bit higher than normal... maybe much higher.  Probably some shady SPRINT employees abusing the system on our dime.

I recieved a call from this number and they stated that my bill was 78 thousand and change, I spoke with sprint and they are not aware of the bogus calls. they said they would contact me at another time.

They are a bogus company saying that they are Sprint. They always call at 2:15. I have reported them to Sprint on several occasions, but they still call me once a month at 2:15 pm. Do yourself a favor and do not answer that call. I have heard stories of people being charged by them.

Just got this call at 2:15pm, this is the second time my wife says it's happened. I love the internet. :)

Just got a call from 888-211-9939 and started googling the number as soon as my caller ID didn't identify it as someone I knew.   It took me 2 seconds to find your posts about it being a scam - so I didn't pick up.  I would not have picked up the call anyway if I didn't know who was calling.  But I just wanted to thank all of you PREVIOUS POSTERS for alerting me to something I had a sixth sense not to answer from the beginning.   HOORAY FOR GOOGLE + YOU + THE WEB! =) -Mr. Thankful

This number called and said they were from Sprint and that a flag had been placed on my account. For security purposes they wanted my billing zip code. I hung up and called sprint (they ask for your pin number NOT your zip). I was told that this call is a fraudulent call and to watch my bill for fraudulent charges.

I sat through their electronic BS and got to a rep who wanted all of my account info, meanwhile I was on the sprint "chat help service" the official sprint girl told me that I had a credit on my account - the people on that phone number would not even verify with me that they were sprint because I would not give them any info beyond my zip code.  They could not even tell that I was calling back from a different phone.

this call says it is from sprint but when you call it back the robo person prompts you to enter your zip code and then tells you the zip code you have entered is not connected to your account and that your account has been restricted and hangs up on you. A call placed to Sprint Reps. say that it is not one of the numbers they use and that there is no restrictions on the account.
